When animals attack...

When an animal kills a human being, is it always right to hunt the animal down and kill it?

I'm not talking about dogs and other creatures we see daily, I'm more so referring to sharks, bears, pumas and the such. I'm really having a hard time coming to a decision on this.

I guess one argument is that they don't want animals to have a taste for human blood... But who the heck confirmed that animals can differentiate blood tastes.

I also feel that if we choose to go into an animals ever declining habitat, we have to assume certain risks. Just because camping is cool and fun doesn't mean you should treat it like it's your living room.

I kinda laugh when circus animals lash out and reporters say that animal has "gone crazy"... That animal aint crazy, that animal went animal on your behind.

You can't blame an animal, IMO, for doing what it does naturally. If human beings are lower in the food chain then so be it.

Can't you also argue that humans are naturally inclined to "protect" themselves from harm?

If so, preventing the animal from attacking the same human or another community justifies the act of taking him out. After all, it's the victim taking it to the "aggressor".

I don't support hunting down an animal just because it harmed a human. Like you said, if you go camping in bear infested woods, bon't be surprised when you see a bear! But at the same time if an animal population is becoming so populous and brazen as to attack people in what aren't normally considered, "Wild" areas then I think we have every right to cull that population.

I'f I'm hiking by myself in British Columbia, 150 miles from the nearest town and I get killed by a bear....so be it! But if I'm in Shedandoah State Park on July 4th and I get attacked by a bear, then by all rights we need to be going after those animals; If not to kill them, then to get them further away from populous areas.

I don't like picnics, too hard to keep the pizza hot.

Do bears like hot pizza? Maybe if they eat you at least they'll burn themselves on the pizza and you get some measure of revenge. I guess that wouldn't work with sharks though. No way you keep pizza hot in water.

Maybe if the pizza had anchovies a shark would eat it, and it wouldn't have to be hot. Who here hasn't eaten a slice of cold pizza for breakfast at least once?
