First Portis knee problems, then Running back Rock Cartwright injured his left ankle Tuesday when a teammate stepped on him. The injury has grown worse in the last couple days with some tendinitis developing, so he has been held out of workouts. . . . Wide receiver Santana Moss has a sore right hip flexor and also has missed workouts. An MRI exam on the injury showed no damage. . . . Linebacker Lemar Marshall has a sore hamstring and has been kept out of workouts. . . . The team expects linebacker Marcus Washington to be cleared to play at its minicamp in early June. He has been recovering from surgery on his hip and elbow. . .
This is not a sign is it?????????????????
A sign of whats to come. This seems like a lot of injuries to me this early.
Is this normall?

Completely normal.
People are constantly finding little things to worry and complain about.

I think that it's completely normal once you sit back and think what they're doing?
These players are putting their bodies through the rigors of the NFL game (no contact).
I'm sure our guys are in tip top shape but when you're making a sudden burst for the ball, it's a lot different than the running you've been doing in the offseason.
The injuries thus far are just little things that come when you start getting back into the swing of things. IF they're treated and allowed to heal they'll pose no issue for the season.

Many of these injuries wouldn't even be a factor during the season. They'd play with them. But there's no reason to take a chance during OTAs. Better to let them heal completely so they're ready to go in September.
Every team in the league is going through the same thing.

Completely normal.
Well, it may be normal up in the great white north, but down here, when the sky starts falling, we look at it as a bad thing.
Falling chunks of sky hurt when they hit. It's very serious...

Not when you acknowledge a wicked sense of humour in a different thread brought back from 2003.
Yes, it is the offseason but just like the team, it is time to start getting serious about things.

Well hey, there's nothing else really to talk about. Other than quoting stuff from redskins.com I guess no real news from redskin park is better than bad news.

There are some concerns about how much Clinton Portis will be able to do in the preseason.
If this is true, there may be more to the knee tendinitis than the Redskins are talking about. The Washington Post writes that Portis needs to improve his work habits in the offseason. Another update should be available Thursday when the media sees Portis.

The Washington Post, who really has no clue what they're talking about writes that Portis needs to improve his work habits in the offseason. A possibly accurate update should be available Thursday when the media sees Portis and can stop conjecturing.

lets gander and see if our competitors are a pillar of health
..I THINK NOT
Cowboys finished their second week of OTA's here Friday, but were missing six players due to injury and rehabilitation.
Four of those were the usual suspects, Greg Ellis, Marco Rivera, Isaiah Stanback and Akin Ayodele. But there were two new guys joining the group, left tackle Flozell Adams and tight end Anthony Fasano. Adams developed some swelling in his right knee after the first mini-camp, and is being held out of the OTA sessions. Fasano suffered a sprained A.C. joint in his shoulder after he was fallen on during a recent non-pad OTA practice
EAGLES
Dawkins Not Present- Free safety Brian Dawkins was also not at practice, but it was for the same personal reasons which kept him home for the post-draft minicamp. Wide receiver Zac Collie was sidelined with a stress fracture in his leg. William Thomas rested following knee surgery earlier in the offseason.

Hush now, this would require some level of grounding within reality.

That's never been a prerequisite to posting here, has it?

No, and I think its a harbongerof things to come. Just yesterday Jon jansen stiubbed his toe while walking back to the locker room and he is expected out 4-6 weeks; earlier today Chris Samuels cut himself while shaving and while its still early they think he might be out 3 months; 2 days ago Ladell betts was raking some leaves in his back yard when a squirrel dropped an acorn on his head - predictably he has a concussion and may have to go on injured reserve for the entire year.
The sky is falling; the end is near.

I'm not worried about these scrapes, but I do believe tendonitis is more serious than people think. It will certainly shorten Portis's career. I don't know how it will affect his play in the short run. Hopefully, they will rest him a lot until the regular season starts.
