No, lets look at the title: "These Rookie's will make an immediate impact." Well, Williams said that Landry will be in the rotation but will not be the starter. So I would have to say that I agree with him. I don' t think he will make an IMMEDIATE impact but throughout the season, he will make an impact of some sorts. Let him get the NFL Legs going.

wait where'd you hear he wasnt going to be the starter? i thought i read an article saying he would start alongside Taylor from day 1

Since I am boycotting fox sports, I cannot click on that link to see what was said. Of course, it doesn't really matter what they said because it is fox sports.

Washington Redskins.com about a month ago reported, G.Willaims saying that L.Landry would be the starting strong safety in the rotation and they were going to let S.Taylor roam to be more of a ball hog.

He's a Skin now, he better get used to it.

rookie safeties don't seem to make an immediate impact coming out of college because it's a long way to go to start making a great impact...safeties seem to have more to worry with on the field than most any other position out there...they blitz, stay deep/mid in zone, man-to-man, and have to make big run stopping tackles

i really think it's fair not to mention a safety...merriweather wasn't mentioned nor were any other safeties...brady quinn (who is so hyped and loved wasn't mentioned)

Landry was rated as the best defensive player entering the draft this year by damn near every expert, even rated higher than Gaines Adams. So the fact that he wasn't mentioned, when several experts have already projected him to possibly be the rookie of the year in 2007, does, in fact, lend support to a biased opinion.

That said, I'm extremely happy we are being overlooked in the media, both offensively and defensively. I firmly believe they will be eating crow this coming season. But, even though the media fails to give this year's squad any respect, I'm quite sure opposing teams that we'll face this year are not overlooking the talent we now have on this team, nor the coaching staff that is steering them.

For example, I think ey is very underrated by the media, but I'm quite sure defensive coordinators game plan for him and know he is a legitimate threat. So you can bet that opposing offensive coordinators will be game planning for both Landry and Taylor, and receivers will not be so enthused to meet either one of those guys in the secondary.

Yes, it's very liberating to ignore the hype and let it all play out on the field. Who cares what one article says. The Skins are always overlooked which is good. I hope everyone takes them lightly. We saw that when the Saints dropped their guard on them.

I can't believe anyone is debating whether or not Landry will start. Of course he will. The crazy salary he will receive will demand it. Plus, you have to get talent like that on the field ASAP. It's just common sense. The other guys like Stoutmire, Doughty, etc are insurance policies in case Landry doesn't get up to speed quickly enough or gets hurt. Landry should make an immediate impact if he's used correctly and stays healthy. Count on it.

I think this draft and FA walkons will yield a lot of future starters for the Skins who will make immediate impact on special teams and for team depth/competition, not necessarily as starters. Guys like Palmer, Blades, and Westbrook could be real gems in the rough. They need time to develop, but with their pedigree and tutalage of great coaches, I like the odds of them making it. I like their intensity and desire to do whatever it takes.

...looking back at what Skin's fans are always saying at this same time every year is "it's really good that we are flying under the radar".... "can't wait till we unleash the team on the rest of the league, cause we are so underated" makes me wonder what mishap will be awaiting us down the road.

I too buy into the pre-season hype, then become so disappointed once we are into the season. Just wondering what awaits us.

What if once he intercepts or strips away the ball, he does not want to give it back and "hogs the ball" to keep it all to himself?

Umm... neither... in that instance, he would be considered a ball whore.

Landry was the BEST defensive player in the draft. PERIOD. He will start! And he will destroy WR's. You can count on it!
