Who is the best head coach in the NFL? (joke of a poll)

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Who is the best head coach in the NFL? (joke of a poll)

Post by Cappster »

ESPN has this pole on their website. It just goes to show how far off of the map that they have fallen. Joe Gibbs coaching job in jeopordy?!?!? The Danny can't fire a legend and not have a major backlash from us!!! They don't even have him on the list of "Which of these head coaches who didn't make the playoffs in 2006 is most likely to reach the playoffs this season?" This pole is a really really bad joke!

1) Who is the best head coach in the NFL?

Bill Belichick (Patriots)
Brian Billick (Ravens)
Tony Dungy (Colts)
Jeff Fisher (Titans)
Mike Holmgren (Seahawks)
Andy Reid (Eagles)
Mike Shanahan (Broncos)
Lovie Smith (Bears)

2) Which of these head coaches who didn't make the playoffs in 2006 is most likely to reach the playoffs this season?

Jeff Fisher (Titans)
John Fox (Panthers)
Marvin Lewis (Bengals)
Scott Linehan (Rams)
Mike McCarthy (Packers)
Mike Nolan (49ers)
Mike Shanahan (Broncos)

3) Which of these head coaches that made the playoffs in 2006 is most likely to miss the playoffs this season?

Tom Coughlin (Giants)
Herm Edwards (Chiefs)
Mike Holmgren (Seahawks)
Eric Mangini (Jets)
Sean Payton (Saints)
Andy Reid (Eagles)

4) Which of these head coaches most needs a strong season in order to keep his job?

Tom Coughlin (Giants)
Romeo Crennel (Browns)
Joe Gibbs (Redskins)
Jon Gruden (Buccaneers)

5) Which of these new head coaches will have the greatest impact on his team this season?

Cam Cameron (Dolphins)

Norv Turner (Chargers)
Ken Whisenhunt (Cardinals)

I can't believe I'm even replying to this garbage. I hope we do well this season for Joe. He deserves more respect and thats the only way we are going to get it is by winning! Nuff said!

If I were ESPN, I'd be upset that someone made fun of my pole.

It's their own fault. When one is poorly endowed, it is not wise to bring attention to one's pole.

I don't know how anyone could be up in arms about this poll. Gibbs isn't even at .500 since coming back, and has had his two worst seasons in his career. That's nothing to brag about. And honestly, if we see another stinker of a season (5-11, 6-10, maybe even 7-9), his job should be in jeopardy. Most coaches only get 3-4 years to right the ship, or they're gone. Heck, everyone was wondering if Coughlin would get the boot in NY, and he made the playoffs! Schotty got fired too, and he went 14-2!

Most coaches, the greats Coughlin and Schotty included (), don't have three Super Bowl Rings to their name.

I hate stupid polls. They are made so that some person can keep his/her Job there. I mostly now watch the nfl network. Or check scores on my cellphone. I don't need no stinking ESPN.

Uh, thanks. Having only been a fan since the late '70's, I was unaware of those SB wins.
And none of those wins were during this current term, so how do they matter now? Tom Flores actually beat Gibbs in the Super Bowl, but does he get many calls these days for head coaching positions?
