Portis or Bailey

This topic was hotly debated...Now a few years into it, I'd like to know who you would rather have on your team.
Forget everthing else...Portis' recent comment, that Bailey didn't want to be a Skin, the second round draft pick and money.
All things being equal who would you take Portis or Bailey??

We witnessed last year that it was easier to plug someone in our backfield (Betts), than to shore up a weak secondary.
Since defense is the area where we most struggled last year, I'd say Bailey.
Of course, I'm not sure he would have worn the funny costumes and stuff.

I don't think that can be judged fairly until Portis' time here is done. If Portis breaks the rushing record again and proves that he was a major factor in getting the Skins to the playoffs or possibly the Super Bowl this year, or next, then I'm quite sure some may feel differently.
I'll reserve my vote until after Portis has finished his career here with the Redskins.

I need one more year before making that descion and Im a big Portis supporter.. if this year after all the moves we made to sure up the secondary still dont work then I'll have to go with Bailey but if we get our secondary upto snuff and Portis has a monster year that carries us into the playoffs then its got to be Portis ..
I think and HOPE we got the secondary good to go now though ..

Up to this point I'd say Bailey. Portis has had 1 good season since he's been here. Bailey had 5 good seaons with us.

Before everyone jumps off the Portis bandwagon, how many championships has Bailey led the Broncos to, zero. Don't blame Portis for all that is wrong with this team. and for those who said he had bad years w/ us, 1300 and 1500 are not bad years. last year was wasted w/ injury. We had bad QBing ove rthe past few years and CP got us to the playoffs and even a playoff victory w/o a QB.

I love them both and I think they're both incredible players. I'm partial to the DB position and if I had the choice I'd pick Bailey.
My selection has nothing to do with anything aside from who I as a player.
No dogs, or 2nd round picks were taken into consideration or harmed during the making of this post.

Which means nothing - it's not like Portis has lead us to any either. If you want to compare team records (which you shouldn't; it's a team sport), ever since Portis and Bailey were swapped, Bailey's team has had a better record.
As much as I like Portis (and I've only ever praised him for his talent, personality, and hard work), I think good RBs are easier to find than good CBs, so I'd choose Bailey.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Sure, I would like to have Champ as he is playing currently. When he was playing his last games for the Skins, however, he wasn't nearly as good! His heart wasn't in it at all and his play suffered as a result.
So, if you're asking BAILEY v. PORTIS back when Bailey was playing for us, I would pick Portis in a heartbeat.
If you're asking BAILEY v. PORTIS the way they are both playing now, it's a much more difficult question.

I voted I would rather have Portis. Champ didn't want to be here and Portis does want to be here. Also, Portis has never had a quarterback behind center here that ANY secondary had to respect. I believe, as long as he stays healthy, Portis will break his own rushing record this year.

It seems like Champ has proven he is the more invaluable player on the field. I still like Portis 100x more, but...

Bailey did not want to be a redskin anymore. Portis seems to love it in D.C. so why would I want a guy who does not want to be here? So I vote for Portis all the way. Betts filling in still did not win us any games.

Its close as to who i would rather have, but there is no question that denver got the better end of the deal. Rb's are everywhere and any can thrive in Denver. Shutdown corners don't come along very often.

And how many championships has Portis led the Redskins, zero. Running backs are all over the place...you cannot find a shut down corner on the street.
I like Portis and support him, but he is not as valuable as Bailey

Betts filling in also didn't lose us games....you can't say that if Portis was in we would have won....I don't think a RB can stop the other teams offensive can you?
And the question was to forget about everything that has happened...as in what if both wanted to be here...who would you take?

What are you talking about!
Bailey was considered the best CB in the NFL when we traded him and Portis was the third best RB in the AFC West.
It was only after we didn't offer him as much as he was looking for and franchised him that he no longer wanted to be here. If we had paid him he would have been just fine with being here. The franchise tag makes player bitters - see Briggs, Lance. Seatle took two or three seasons to meet Walter Jones' demands and guess what, he was happy once he knew he was getting a big raise every year.
I'm sick of people saying Bailey didn't want to be here. That was a bunch of fecal matter that we were fed by the team after they got rooked by the Broncos. Not that it matters now, but we should have either kept him or traded him for a fair deal. We did neither! We just gave him and a 2nd to Denver for a RB. You can find a RB at the Quicky Mart if your line is good enough.
The only RB I would take over Bailey is LT and that would be a hard choice and I certainly wouldn't toss in a second rounder.
But like Boss said, this horse is dead (still fun to beet it though!)

I don't consider voting for Bailey (as I did) to be a knock against Portis.
I love Portis and think he's a great back and one of, if not the, best player on our team. But Bailey is the best defensive player in the NFL, so if I could choose either one, I'd take Champ.

You just saved me a lot of typing!! I have no clue why Skins fans feel Champ did not want to be a Skin?? Maybe it’s easier to take that way. Hey while we’re at it why don’t we start the rumor that Sean Taylor doesn’t want to be a Skin…we all know if Snyder pays Landry more than Taylor and does not redo Taylor contract that “he won’t want to be a Skin”!!

Sweet mother of something: Bailey TURNED DOWN a $55 MILLION offer with a $14.7 million signing bonus BEFORE his last season. So that's how we know, not think, not assume, not speculate, not guess, not ponder, we KNOW he wanted out.

Sounds like a pretty emphatic "no" too if he turned down a $14.7 mil guarantee...
