Updating a previous item, the Associated Press reports Houston Texans RB Ahman Green bought the No. 30 from FS Jason Simmons. Simmons agreed to give up the number if Green would make a down payment on a home for a single parent. Green said, " He said what he wanted to do and I said: 'Yeah I'm all on board. That's easy.' Tell me where to write the check to. So instead of putting the money into his pocket, he's going to put in into somebody else's home, house and help them get their life started."

This worked out pretty good for everyone involved, and someone that doesn't know they're involved.
Nice gester on Simmons part.

Thats pretty good. Maybe other guys in the NFL should take a look at this. I know it sounds cliche but I have stuck by the "Pay it forward" mentality.

Wow, that wasn't what I expected when I clicked on this. Good for everyone involved here.

That's a cool gesture. I figured he would be throwing a party or buying a new car.

What you don't see is that the single parent is Simmons' sister.

Does not matter who's sister she is. Nice gesture by both people involved.

Definitely....
Sadly such things don't get airtime. Only the degradation of players (people) are worthy of ESPN, IS and Fox front pages.

It is nice too see that some players get it. They have been given so much it is nice too here about it when they do something to give back. I think the NBA does something like that when a player gets fined, he gives the money to a charity.

total BS how stuff like this (and there actually is a lot of great stuff going on like this) gets no airtime, while Dog fighting and other negatives get full news network 24/7 coverage. Not just nfl either, nothing good ever gets reported. Is good news not news anymore?? I'm tired of wondering if the apocalypse is coming everytime I watch the news.
