this is quoted from someone else on extremeskins.com and i thought it should be brought up around here.... and i agree with this 100%...

"Since the draft, I've noticed that there has been an uproar regards to us not addressing the D-line, which i can understand. So, just for curiosity I just wanted to check to see who are some of the younger talent that we may already have that i haven't paid attention to, including some that we are familiar with. Below are all of our D-linemen under 30, most of which has less than 4 years experience:

-DE Green, Jamaal 27
-DE Demetric Evans 28
-DE Andre Carter 28
-DE Joe Sykes 24
-DE Chris Wilson 24
-DE Bryant Shaw 28
-DT Vaka Manupuna 24
-DT Anthony Montgomery 23
-DT Larenzo Alexander 23
-DT Ryan Boschetti 25
-DT Jared Clauss 26
-DT Kedric Golston 23

Of course i'm not saying that these guys are going to make the team or even the practice squad, but personally i'm trying to find some rhyme or reason as to maybe why we didn't address the D-line at all during the draft."

**EDIT**

i do see why we didn't address the d-line from 5th pick on...does anybody really think that they would have competed and pulled ahead of these guys for a spot?

Evans, Sykes, Montgomery (saw little playing time compared to-->>)...Goldston, Carter (all under 30) all played last year and these guys we "could have" signed doesn't show that they would be ahead of who we have.

I think Demetric Evans can be a good stop gap measure at DE, a guy who can start this year until we upgrade this position. He makes plays and doesn't get caught out of position very much. If Phillip Daniels can still play another year or two, we know what he's capable of doing on the football field. Andre Carter has shown at the end of last season that he could live up to the hype. It would seem that Jamaal Green has some potential at DE. Heck, he must be tough. He grew up in Camden, NJ.

As for DT, with Griffin and Salave'a healthy, this tandem can be really good. With Golston and Montgomery and whoever else that they can dig up to back these guys, we should be OK.

Problem here is that we don't have a big name up front, a proven guy who can dominate the opponent. We need a DT who can clog up the middle and one really good pass-rushing end. Maybe in next year's draft or via free agency. Doesn't matter because our QB is still developing so it makes sense our core Defense would be too before we win any championships. I just hope we can smell the playoffs this year.

Thanks for posting that! Its starting to make sense why they didn't plan to select d-lineman now. Hopefully we got at least one hidden gem in there.

I agree with this statement, he showed some flashed the 05 season and I beleive he was injured last year, so I hope he comes back strong...

Tore a knee ligament and was given an injury settlement and released. Don't know if he's on a roster.

Maybe we will draft Chris Long next year...DE out of Virginia, since we only draft players who had a relative play in the league. Actually he may be pretty good.

I went to Virginia when Patrick Kerney, a former walk on was there. Although Long doesn't seem to have made his presence felt as much as Kerney did, he does make plays. A DE who is always around the ball, even when double teamed, just doesn't get a ton of sacks, but he pressures the QB alot.

With a breakout year, he could be around in the late first, or second round. I'd take him in a heartbeat.
