Randy Moss traded to NE for 4th round pick.

i'll go as far to say that he'll have a monster season....

he might be as dumb as a stump, but he's still a freak of nature. i heard on ESPN that he ran a 40 for the patsies during his physical, and it was a 4.29

Might work out for NE but IMO we are lucky that Gibbs will not have players like this on his team - this guy is not a "team first" player - his priority is to be on a team that has the best chance to win a SB NOT to help his team have a better chance at winning by trying hard on every play - there is a difference.

If Belichick made this move it shows the difference between the coaches but maybe Bill is feeling like he can get something out of Moss that Moss has not shown for a while now - it was certainly worth a 4th to find out.

Bill also selected a "questionable" player out of the U yesterday (and later defended his pick) - maybe a fun few months up here.

I think this is a smart move. Unlike some places in the NFL (cough, cough, DC, cough), I don't think Moss will be a distraction in New England. Number one, they are too good a team anyway - they just don't need to put up with any of his crap. If he acts up, he'll be gone. Number two, if he plays as well as he can, then the Brady to Moss combination could be unstoppable.

I think he'll only be there a year, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up the ring that he wants.

More Proof that Gibbs has somehow traded "the Danny" to the Pats for a player to be named later.
He'll line up across from Donte Stallworth, the DBs in the AFC will earn their money this year.

New England is the team to beat this season. Even if you do not take Moss into consideration, they improved themselves immensely. Having Moss is a cherry on the cake.

They are going to be many people's favourites to win the SB.

Yeah, instead we gave up a 3rd AND a 4th for Lloyd, who's best year equals a bad Randy Moss year. How are we 'lucky' not to have Moss?

I love Gibbs, I love the Skins put lets please get off of this holy art thou crap thats going on. Maybe we should give New Orleans our 1st round pick for the rights to the name "Saints" since this team is so holy all of sudden.

I'm glad that we have a good crop of guys but lets stop acting like we're so much better. It's like Redskins fans are always trying to find something we're "better" at to make up for these sub .500 seasons.

Anyway, this is a great pick up by the Pats. This is the PERFECT place for Moss. He now has a coach that will tell him to shove it up his butt when he acts out. He now has someone on the field in Brady who will tell Moss to quit his whining because this is his show and he's done it without and doesn't need him.

Moss is no longer the man in the spotlight, he's just another act in Tom Bradys show. The Patriots IMO now have the best WR corps in the NFL.

yes and yes... brady has never had a great wide out in NE. now he has two? yikes. cant see them not making the superbowl. truly the team to beat....

I think the pick up is great but it also comes with risks - no worries - I also remember Culpepper as one of the hottest rated QBs in the NFL and everybody telling the rest of the league to watch out! Moss and Carter and (I forget the 3rd guy) were all "the best WRs in the NFL" - BFD - guarantees this team nothing - you still have to play as a team - talent is only as good as the amount it helps the rest of the guys.



Interesting also that there are a lot of so called experts who are V surprised at the Merriwether AND Moss pick up by a team that loves its core players.

All though Brady and company are going to be scary. Something will happen to make them lose. Whenever a big time free agent gets picked up everyone expects them to win it all. But somehow that team ends up losing.

I almost threw up when I heard the newz. Brady and Moss? Are you kidding me. Whats next Larry Johnson going to the Pats?

T.O. got a lot closer in 2004 than any of us were comfortable with, of course. Corey Dillon had a monster year for the Patriots that season -- although one could argue that he wasn't the essential piece of that Superbowl. (Still, he brought stability to a backfield that was only average in their previous championships).

I'm sure there are one or two here and there, but those kinds of free agents are rare. Both Faulk and Owens were more "final pieces to the puzzle" than anything else.

Moss is one of my favorite players, im glad he has a chance to win again, and with a top 5 QB Tom Brady throwing to him, i see him having a monster career in NE

But hey we get to see Landry and Taylor go versus Moss,STallworth and Brady. This will be a good learning experience for our defense.

Belichick is a 'by the statistics' kind of guy. He obviously feels that Moss' potential payout is worth the risk of having him around. I will say this: I'd rather have Randy Moss on my team than T.O. (assuming that "neither" isn't an option, of course).

Moss has had attitude problems but he hasn't single-handedly destroyed a team. T.O. is working on his third , although he did manage to get a legendary coach kicked out.

I can't say that I agree with Belichick on this decision, but I have to respect his accomplishments in the past as well as his ability to play the odds.

The interesting part of all this is that they also added Stallworth and Merriwether and Moss - one would have been a little out of character but all 3 is a very different philosophy for this team. can you imagine if this was the Bengals? - talk about a double standard, it's OK because this is the Patriots

Its one thing to get accepted by Bellichick, it will be equally important to have the team leaders accept these 3. They will be scrutinized and nobody will be allowed to step out of line - be even money that only 1 makes it to the end of TC.
