I really enjoyed the analysis offered by the NFL Netowrk on what the needs are for the Skins and what they should do in the draft.
Parenthetically, Salmon Wilcotts has really good takes, does his homework and should be put on the NFL air more than he's currently used. They should dump "prime time" and limit Rod Woodson IMHO.
Anyhow, I they pretty much reiterated what has been stated at this web site, however, I do like that they called Skin's management for underutlizing the draft (I know ESPN noted this, but NFL network did as well). Wilcotts stated having a high regard for Campbell and expected good things from him this season... god willing.
They noted Saftey and DL needs, and spotlighted Gains Adams as a hard ass pass rusher. It does not look like he'll be there at 6, however.
Who else can fill the DE pass rusher to help Carter on the other side?
Finally, they had Portis on the air and played TD calls from Larry Michael... got the goose bumps when I heard the calls from LM, must admit.
Bring on the mini camps cause I'm fired up!!

I agree it was nice to see some of the media doing something besides criticizing the Skins. The only thing i disagree with is when they said the Redskins need a #2 receiver to go opposite Moss. I'm sorry but IMHO that is at the bottom of needs. Brandon Lloyd will have to step up. ARE did step up the second part of the season and contributed well to the offense. Thrash is still a heckuva possession receiver, he can no longer get a lot of YAC, but he does catch a lot of third down balls. I am still hoping that Mike Espy will develope into a solid receiver. It appears he has the tools, now it's just a matter of experience and opportunity.

I agreed with this statement. I think our recievers have to step up to help Moss. With the Departure of Patten, Mike Espy should get more playing time and that will benefit his developement. He has the skills and along with Lloyd and AR should provice the Skins with the dept they need. I think if Lloyd doesn't step up, Gibbs should give Mike Espy the opportunity to showcase his talent..

I have to disagree.. beyond Moss we have no reciever that has proven themselves to be a reliable #2 at any point in there careers.. I like ARE hes great as a return man and running gaget plays and he can make some plays for us as a reciever but hes not someone to bank on being a capable #2 week in and week out.. hes good to have as an asset and to use in 3 and 4 wide out sets most definetly but hes not taking any of the attention away from Moss .. and Lloyd has never done anything but show flashes.. its get to a point where the player just doesnt have what it takes to go beyond showing flashes.. yea he can get deep and sometimes make a great catch but its way too far and few between.. we have depth yes but we dont have as strong a recieving corp. as some people believe.. having

ey definetly helps but he cant be our #2.. I believe if we do trade out of our 6 pick and get a pick in the 2nd and maybe even 3rd round you will see it used on a reciever.. at some point in this draft if we aqcuire more picks dont be shocked when you see a recievers name scroll across the screen (just my opnion)

I am not sure if the redskins need to add another reciever to get that production or if that reciever is still on the team... The offense was just not good enough last year to produce two quality wide outs. If JC is more accurate this year and we move the chains more the other wideouts will get more chances. I think that Lloyd, REL, and Espy could all become a number two type of widereciever, They are all still young enough and that is what you want...you want players to develop into bigger play makers and not have to sign and re-sign new players every year. Stick with these young wide outs with potential for a few years

If we get extra picks by all means pick up a late round receiver. My point is that it is not a glaring need. We can get by with what we have. If they didn't think Lloyd wasn't going to be the guy then they should not have picked up the $5 mil bonus. I think last year was a combination of things that made everyone on offense look mediocre.

Proving my point, our wideouts need to step up..I really believe Lloyd can be a number 2 reciever...is our offensive system helping out, it certainly did not do it last year, plus Campbell was also still progressing. Remmber that WR are probably one of the hardest positions to adjust to in the NFL, that is why there are so many BUSTS in the Draft. Anyway, I am positive that JC will show improvement this year and that will help in the development of Lloyd and Espy. I really doubt Gibbs will draft another Wide reciever...and also, remember we also have Steven Harris who I also believe show improvemet last year in the preseason games...I am exited to see how all our wideouts improve this year...

When your #2 WR doesn't catch any TD's during the season, you have to understand why some may feel we need a #2....and Im a Lloyd supporter.

I saw that too, but I actually wasn't that impressed.
I mean I like seeing the Skins on TV, but frankly I don't need Soloman Wilcats to tell me what the Skins needs are.
I've known since the day the season ended that we needed a improve our D-Line and such. I already knew least turnovers in NFL History and could use another playmaker in the secondary. I knew AA was a bust, I knew Al Saunders playbook would take time to understand.
Sure I like it when the Redskins get props and stuff, I don't need John Clayton or someone to tell me what the Skins have done wrong and right.
The only time I want the media talking about the Skins is after we've won a Super Bowl. Because then there is nothing anyone can say, because no matter how crappy your draft stratagey is or how crazy your owner is, if you've won the Super Bowl.
And that's all I want.

Yes, but even Moss had an off year last year. It can't help any of the receivers that we had a QB switch mid-season, and guys like Moss battled injuries. Personally, I'm giving the whole WR group a pass this past year, and hope to see them step it up in the '07 season. They should know the plays and routes better by then, and they'll have had a chance to develop timing with JC.

I understand that everyone had a ruff year but he had 0 TD's. You have to understand how the train of thought of a non fan would go. Heck! Even Skins fans think that Lloyd was a bust, they didn't even recognize that he was open a lot and not getting the ball. So if Skins fans are calling him a bust you have to assume that outsiders will feel the same.

Im all for depth, but im happy with the guys we have. I don't think JC got good reads last year or gave to many looks around the field. I think he was looking for one or two people. But I think that got better towards the end of the year and will be even better this year. We all know what Moss can do. With ARL's speed he can catch I don't know why people think he won't cut it. And for Lloyd I think he didn't really have his head in the game last year. I think we just haven't seen Llyod really show up yet and show us what he can do.

Yeah, you have to give me a break... I'm from Cali so any call hyping the Skins scoring a touchdown is like taking down 3 Red Bulls.

I understand what your saying.. and im not a Lloyd basher not even ready to call him a bust YET but that being said.. this isnt the 1st time ive heard the arguement for Lloyd just not having his head in the game and not showing what he can do yet.. it was the same thing San Fran said.. it just gets to a point where its not gonna happen ..attitude plays a part and he just doesnt seem to have what it takes.. im hoping he can get it together but i dont see it happening it hasnt happened yet.. hes not a rook or 2nd year player.. hes a vet now..Im not saying to cut anyone but we need to add someone and preferbly someone with some height to them..and the people saying Moss had a down year is true but its not all because of the QB deal .. he also had a tougher year because teams saw no threat in ARE or Lloyd unfortenatly

I saw the show and it got me excited for the draft and season ahead. One of the points that stood out most to me was the lack of sacks and turnovers created by our defense. I would have also liked to have seen our defensive 3rd down efficieny numbers. I imagine they were very bad. Bottom line, our D was aweful and forced the offense to play with a"long" field far to often. I am not so sure WR is a priority if we play defense better. I think the guys we have are good enough to be a very good offense, but I would not be upset if somehow we are able to draft Calvin Johnson. DE, DT, and S are higher priorities IMO.

We have one wide receiver and one defensive end. So we need one of each. To be perfectly frank.
