PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Brian Westbrook received an extra $3 million from the Philadelphia Eagles in an accounting error.

The star running back intends to pay the team back after getting his roster bonus twice. However, the Eagles filed a grievance with the NFL against Westbrook because the money hasn't been repaid yet, a team spokesman said Saturday.

Westbrook finished last season with a career high of 1,217 rushing yards and was sixth in the NFL with 1,916 yards from scrimmage. He signed a five-year contract extension worth $24.9 million during the 2005 season.

"ohh, so that's where that extra 3 million went"

Not a big story by any means, but it made me laugh when I read it. I just picture the Redskins shaving more money off the cap every minute, and the Eagles are accidentally paying their players extra money.

Goes the show the difference between their FO and the Skins.

Phithy had a option to convert a $3M roster bonus into a $3M signing bonus (this is a tatic the Skins have been using for years  ) to save cap space this year. The E-gals had never used this tool before and obviously no one really understood what "convert" meant, so he was paid a signing bonus AND a roster bonus.
ROTFALMAO

As tight as they are it seems impossible to make that mistake. I would have thought they would have cheated him out of money instead of giving too much

Depends on how long it takes them to recoup the money
