LOL, check this video out.....
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/04/0 ... ools-poll/
"And the winner is (drum roll) it was
Britney Spears...."
"Also on the list - so and so, so and so, and
George W Bush"
I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

Crooks and liars would hands down win any poll on the most useless, inane, fact devoid site ever put on the web, and that's against some mighty stiff competition

Nice diversion attempt.

Hmm, in a forum that uses crooks and liars to attack Fox's credibility, it's a diversion to attack crooks and liars credibility.
Got it. I'm going to write this down. Where's my pencil?

How is a site that uses factual video clips devoid of fact?

First, did you realize it was not FoxNews, it was a local Fox affiliate? "Fair and Balanced" is FoxNews. Local Fox affiliates aren't run by FoxNews. Did you notice the News report that presented the graphic says "Fox 10?"
Second, here are the correct statistics:
The total list this year is as follows:
1. Singer Britney Spears 76%
2. Socialite Paris Hilton 67%
3. Singer Michael Jackson 64%
4. President George Bush 63%
5. O.J. Simpson 60%
6. Vice President Dick Cheney 56%
7. Actor Mel Gibson 56%
8. Astronaut Lisa Nowak 53%
9. Former Congressman Mark Foley 51%
10. Seinfeld comedian Michael Richards 51%
Britney won, sorry, Crooks and Liars, despite that a local Fox affiliate screwed up a graphic.
Third, the poll is sponsored by New York publicist Jeff Barge, not Fox News.
So, a local fox affiliate screwed up a graphic and Crooks and Liars used it to attack the FoxNews Network. Does that qualify as "devoid of fact?"
I'd say it's worse then devoid, I was being kind. It was a lie. Here's an article on the poll with the correct data, it doesn' mention the local Fox coverage of it but it provides the results of the poll.

Well, it would appear that Kazoo is actually right on this one. Well, mostly. Those number he posted were indeed the results of the nation-wide poll. The results that the affiliate posted were from their own separate poll on their own web site. Why a Fox News affiliate they would have Bush at the bottom of their own poll is anybody's guess.
It sure is reassuring to know that the public doesn't think Bush is as foolish as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Sure, they think he's more foolish than OJ Simpson, Mark Foley and even Dick Cheney, but if they thought he was more foolish than Spears and Hilton that would really be saying something.

So does this make you question Crooks and Liars credibility at all?

Hell no. They have had all the correct details right there on their page. I mis-read it, and have since made the proper corrections to my original post.

Was screwing up a graphic "distorting" the news when the reporting of the story was correct?
We'll never know for sure. I've seen Fox News do worse.
step back and tell me what legitimate point Crooks and Liars made about Fox News, the title of the "story?"
That a Fox News affiliate displayed Bush at the bottom of their poll even though he belonged at the top.

It would appear ATV is actually right on this one. Well, mostly. He is wrong in saying I was mostly right. I was right.
OK, listen to the story in ATV's link and you will hear them say Britney Spears won accorging to "The Opinion research group."
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/04/0 ... ools-poll/
Now, look at my link and how the numbers I cited were from an April fools day poll sponsored by "Jeff Barge."
- The quote and link
"Both top the list of the eight annual 'Most Foolish' American Survey sponsored each year by well-known New York publicist Jeff Barge."
The total list this year is as follows:
1. Singer Britney Spears 76%
2. Socialite Paris Hilton 67%
3. Singer Michael Jackson 64%
4. President George Bush 63%
5. O.J. Simpson 60%
6. Vice President Dick Cheney 56%
7. Actor Mel Gibson 56%
8. Astronaut Lisa Nowak 53%
9. Former Congressman Mark Foley 51%
10. Seinfeld comedian Michael Richards 51%
http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/pu ... 2457.shtml
Now look at this link and you will see the poll Jeff Barge sponsors is the poll by the "Opinion Research Group, the group cited in the Fox News Story.
- The quote and link
"The poll is conducted by publicist Jeff Barge and the Opinion Research Group in honour of April Fool's Day."
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=257996
- Conclusion. The graphic was screwed up, but the story as reported by the local Fox affiliate that Britney Spears won according to a poll sponsored by the Opinion Research group was correct.
Oops!
---------------------
This is how to conduct a link argument, I actually provided relevant links and told you what my argument was and what you would see. Not 30 links of unsupported accusations, bitmap forms and other minutia.
And so even if you ignore that Crooks and Liars is clearly trying to blame the Fox News channel for the story of an independent affiliate, the story as reported by the affiliate was correct and they simply screwed up a graphic.
Crooks and liars are liars.

I went through this one more time and oops, the graphic wasn't even wrong! Listen to the words in ATV's link.
They accurately talked about the Opinion research poll as I already documented. Then they said "also high on the list" and named the 5 people in their graphic with the percents from the MyPhoenix.com poll for the people "high on the list."
Then they said "That" poll was still open!!!!
They didn't distort anything. Crooks and Liars did. This is what they are about.
So anyway, Fios, I'm done now. I went to the trouble to make this argument because I was asked by someone credible, you.

That's what I just wrote. Again, the poll the affiliate showed the chart for was the affiliate's own poll, not the nation-wide poll that they were mentioning the whole time in their report.

They just said the 5 people were in the Opinion Research Poll and put the numbers from their own poll, they never stated any significance to the order. I would have put both poll numbers in the chart.
On Crooks and Liars, they lied and said Fox 10 was wrong, Bush won, and used that to bash FoxNews, who wasn't involved. Clearly they knew when they did that they had cited the correct poll and lied that they didn't. Or they are really, really stupid to post that without listening to the text and verifying what they said, like I did.
On FoxNews, the target of Crooks and Liars lies and your ire in creating the forum you're going to have to speak for that, what did we learn? I say nothing, you have only demonstrated Crooks and Liars are liars.

Sure you have. Isn't that what the Daily Show is all about?? I liked it more back in the days of Craig Kilborn, though.

1) The Daily Show is parody, as such it does not claim to be a source of news
2) You have poor taste in comedy if you think Kilborn is better than Stewart

2) You're right. I have poor taste in comedy. That probably explains why I laugh at a lot of your jokes.

On Crooks and Liars, they lied and said Fox 10 was wrong
"Phoenix Fox 10 News runs a poll to see who is "the most foolish American" and the host proclaims—Britney Spears the winner! That wouldn't be surprising except that the real winner of the poll was…..drum roll please……George Bush" - The poll the affilliate showed WAS wrong. By showing a poll that had no relation with the poll they were mentioning was misleading. I think it's fair to say C&L, like all viewers, were misled. That's all I have left to say on the subject.

OK, they had a graphic with only their own poll's data and talked about both and that confused Crooks and Liars, they didn't lie. Sure.
I don't see anything presented as having to do with the "Faux News" Channel you're attacking at all. Local, independent affiliate reporting on their own poll and a poll not conducted by FoxNews. Your accusation, back it up, what does this have to do with FoxNews? I keep asking. Back it up.

Fox 10 News and Fox News are connected only by the fact that both are Fox affiliates.

Oh my God, what a devastating post! You just convinced me! I HATE FoxNews now! Well done, the wit, the emphasis on facts, the relentless barrage of irrefutable logic! I concede, I will never watch them again!
