SNYDER TO SELL IF 'SKINS STUMBLE AGAIN?

After eight years of trying to take the Washington Redskins back to the Super Bowl, owner Dan Snyder could soon be admitting that he's not cut out for the role.

A league source tells us that, if the 'Skins fail to make the playoffs in 2007, Snyder might be firing the only person whom he hasn't fired yet. Himself.

"He seems to be starting to realize that he's the common denominator for every season since he bought the team," said the source. "The question right now is whether he loves the Redskins enough to walk away and let someone else take over."

The source said that another possibility would be for Snyder to sell the majority share of the team to someone else, and then to take a backseat to a new owner.

I would prefer if the skins can learn to win, a lot, with Snyder as the owner and with his hands off any football decisions. An owner willing to risk tons of money is a good thing.

After all... it cites a 'league source' and it came from PFT... how can it not be true?

As long as Snyder allows the football people to make decisions regarding personnel acquisitions, and just continue's to sign the checks, I have no problem with Snyder being the owner of this team.

I find it VERY difficult to believe that Dan would sell this team this soon, or at all. I also find it extremely difficult to believe, that if in fact he was considering this, that he would release that information to a 'league source'. I don't buy it.

April Fools or not, I think Dan Snyder becoming a minority owner would be an improvement. He is too hands on and aggressive to make himself take a back seat Kent-Cooke style if he stayed the majority owner. He should sell enough of the team so he bacame a 49% owner and did not actually work at Redskins Park.

We need an owner who lets football people make the football decisions. I'm an engineer and cannot do my job well if a management guy or a marketing guy at my company is breathing down my neck every day trying to "assist" me in making engineering decisions. The term is MICRO-MANAGEMENT and it does not work.

I can think of about 50 million reasons why he won't be selling the team any time soon....

From the same web page... "[EDITOR'S NOTE: It's April Fool's day. If you haven't already realized that everything posted from the McNabb retirement story to this point is completely and totally phony and made up, please convey our deepest condolences to your family, your friends, and anyone else who has to interact with you on a regular basis.] "

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that The Redskins are the most profitable franchise in ALL of professional sports. Now how could any businessman even think of walking away...this article is garbage.

Snyder has improved as an owner and our franchise is a lot more valuable since he took over in spite of the fact that the football operations have left a lot to be desired. Snyder does not strike me as someone that has done all he has so far and then will walk away from the challenges ahead.

We are a lot better off with the devil we know.

IMO we will be better off short term with Snyder as the owner and that should also lead to a better team, long term, as well.

I love Daniel Snyder as the Skins Owner. It could be worse we could have Al Davis, or Donald Sterling or someone like that. :P
