Did anyone else see the special on NFL Network last night (3/22/07) on the 1982 Redskins? It is part of the Americas Game series.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!

Thiesman, Grimm and Doc Walker give you the inside scoop. Fascinating.

If you are not old enough to remember, or were not a fan back then, this is MUST SEE TV!!!!! (actually it is must see for ANY Redskins fan)

I was 14 during this season. While I loved the Skins before that season for sure, this season is what turned me into a fanatic.

I had forgotten some of the stuff and learned some new stuff.

The Hogs, The Smurfs, The Fun Bunch, The Pearl Harbor Crew. (I forget what the called the linebackers)

Riggo taking it on his back during the playoffs.
The mid field bow at the end of the Vikings game.
We Want Dallas!!!
Danny White getting knocked out.
Darrell Grant's interception for a TD.
Russ Grimm changing Gibbs play calls at the end of the game to inflict MORE damage on the Cowboys.
70 chip - "The Run"
Mosley as MVP.
Theisman getting his teeth knocked out.
The parade, in the cold, miserable rain with 500,000 people!!

It goes on and on and on.

I was to young to remember or even be a fan, but that show was TIGHT! I loved how serious they took that championship game vs dallas and how they ran 50 gut like 10 times in a row to close it out. Gave me chills. I long for the day that i can see somthing like that with my own eyes. The first game i ever remember actualy watching was the SB vs Denver, but didnt really become a hardcore fan till early 90's... That was fun to watch!

Yes I saw it and it just blew my mind.

Even though it pumped me up, watching it I realized that today's team will never have that same type of chemistry and hunger that the old Super Bowl teams did.

I mean, they would all stay together after practice in a stupid little shed drinking beers and gaining team chemistry.

In today's game, everyone goes striaght home in their H2s to their private mansions.

And "The Hogs"... Whoa, that was great.

But again, I never see that type of chemistry and nastyness comming out of today's group.

I'm not saying we can't win the Super Bowl, but I don't think our team will ever have the bond like the teams from the '80's did.

I think thats more of a reflection of todays society instead of this team individually.

Well yeah, but I mean in the show the guys were saying the Super Bowl was huge because it was for "70,000$!" Todays the guys get that per game.

But of course the era will have something to do about it so today instead of after practice CP, Santana and whoever won't spend time in a small shed, they'll just go to a club and party.

Man, I noticed that it was coming on at 11:00 last night, and I fought to stay awake but I fell asleep right before it started. I'll definitely downlaod it, though. I was 11 years old that year, and it was an awesome time to be a Skins fan. Great memories.

Great show, saw it! I was sixteen in 1982 and really began liking the Redskins during the "Over The Hill Gang" era starting in 1974.

Although I recalled much about that first SB season, there was a lot of insider info being dished by Walker, Theismann, and Grimm.

I really enjoyed Grimm's veto power in the huddle and Theismann musing that he thought Gibb's would have been afraid to be left in a room alone with Riggins. You also recalled that Monk got injured at the end of the season and missed the playoffs completely. When I think about it, maybe that's why he keeps getting passed over which is complete BS regardless. Moseley getting abused more than anyone despite being the MVP is also comical.

Although you're not going to get that degree of comradery and unselfishness on any team because of how big the game has become and the crazy salaries, I think football players will still be motivated to win Super Bowls in today's era. I think the NE Pat's have proven that.

Our modern day Redskins need players with more heart and dedication to their craft. Art Monk was Jerry Rice's role model in terms of his demeanor and work ethic. There were a lot of unsung heroes on the '82 team, guys nearing the end of their careers with the will to get it done. They are also having fun out there too. IMHO, I think guys like John Jansen, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley and Cornelius Griffin fit this mold.

The big difference is that many of these '82 guys had been on the team for years and had something to prove to the young guys coming in. Gibb's offense was also very novel back then and defenses were still trying to figure out how to defense it.

Out of the three they did about our Skins, this one IMO was the best by far. I was a 12 yr old that year and its amazing how much of that i remember. My Dad took me to the playoff game vs the Vikings. I don't know how he came across the tickets, but I'm sure glad he did. Man I miss RFK

I was also 12 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday. The show was done very well. When they showed the Skins at their first home game, I said to my wife, "look honey, it's RFK. Man I miss that place, have some great memories from there."

I live further away now so I don't get up there very often now, but to be honest, I'd rather watch the game on tv than go to Fedex.

I DVRed it and just watched it tonight. Wow. It was truly awesome!

Looking back, it was amazing that the Skins even won that Super Bowl. I mean, after all, they played their own individual Super Bowl in the NFC Championship game against the Cowboys!
