To be honest I think this would make a good discussion in perhaps a different section of this site. I have been here for years and personally stopped posting a while back because of this issue. I liked this place better than extremeskins because I felt the information here was better structured and the group here were more down to earth and friendlier. :celebrate: Than I started seeing new mods and an attempt to really tighten the rules on the board and its posts. It seemed there were more posts from mods in reply top posts that someone might have already said something similar and locked the post down or moved posts than actual discussion posts. I personally do not see the harm in a new post from someone who has a slightly different take on a subject that feels it needs to be out of the open rather than buried deep in some other thread that could be 4 or 5 pages deep. O:) Frankly a thread that deep is actually difficult to follow. I do understand the need when there are multiple threads started when reporting some breaking news but that is different. I am a mod on another board for a different topic and we do it very effectively. I am not sure if as a result of this tightening of the "rules" or people got fed up and left but I have felt there have been less and less posting on this board over the past year or so. It really is sad because there are some amazing people here and it really was the best out there at one point. For those that feel I am attacking this board please do not misinterpret my opinion as that because I am expressing it in hopes that this board perhaps reconsider some of their “rules” and make its way back to where it once was. Over at ES they would have deleted this and you would have been banded. Here I'll have to split your post from the thread you strayed off topic from then move it to the proper forum. Being a mod on another site is cool making work for the mods on this site isn't.

Just like thread getting locked, it happens. Have your threads been locked? If you have a issue have you PM'd a mod about it?

Happy posting.

Hey 1niksder -

Thanks for moving the thread....I didn't feel comfortable where it was but was not sure of the best place for it and it was a follow up to a previous couple of posts. You are right ES does delete and ban from what I have seen way to quickly (although I never have registered or signed up with them so I only know through brief encounters). For a while when I was very active I was having IMO a lot of posts constantly moved or locked and I yes I did feel most of the time it was unjustified. I even felt some of the mods who were very active in do this was very condescending in their reply posts. I believe this place can be amazing (it was first place that I found the rumor Joe Gibbs was coming back) but I do recommend reviewing some of the tightening of the rules and see if a happy middle ground can be met.

I'm not a mod here and if I was even asked, i would turn it down. (nothing against it, just don't want to go to the dark side..ha ha haaaa) Anyways, for the longest time I thought that people literally had it out for me. I mean I went back and forth with a Mod about being a jerk when I was really the one not following the rules. After being fully exposed to them it makes total sense to me not. Yes some of the info will make you feel like a needle in the haystack but as long as people stay on topic within the thread, it will be your one stop shop for info on that issue as well as people's opinions. I kind of took the idea that if I didn't like the rules I could go elsewhere, and I did. But I found myself coming back because I, with all the frustration, enjoyed it here most. And have formed friendships with people on here. As aggravating as it seems, I promise if you follow the rules (not starting duplicate subject threads) you'll see it isn't all to difficult to do, it just may take a few minutes longer. I hope this helps.

A lot of the multiple threads are due to user not using the tools of the site.
The search function is one of the best on a message board that I've ever seen. Coming from "the Danny's" site I can understand not wanting to use the search function, but the two are miles apart.

There is also the option to veiw all post since your last visit (this allows the user to avoid re-reading post and they can pick up where they left off) This is the one of the best tools on the board

not a mod by any stretch, but i'd like to respond.

one of the main reasons i enjoy this site is that it has an organization to it. to me, it doesn't seem too difficult to keep content into the proper thread. i see threads started all the time that could have easily been added to a previous thread.
for the most part, i understand the mods' reasoning and i agree with their positions on forum structures.
anyway, this is where i choose to get the vast majority of my skins info. there is, simply, no way you can convince me that a better, more informative, redskins site is available. [-(

i, for one, give a BIG shout out to the mods of this site!!

The biggest reason I didn't write this site off and leave is because as you said I enjoyed it here most. At the time when I had my issues I never felt people were out to get me and I did feel I was following the rules. The problem is there is a lot of gray area on what is part of a thread and what can be a new thread. That is where I felt some mods at the time (perhaps they are not longer mods or involved anymore) were going too far with their locks and moves. Like I had mentioned at the time I would come to the board and see more locks and threads “disappear” (moved) than actual threads. I would spend a lot of time and thought into a post (possibly too much :D ) and then I would find it moved or locked within minutes and truly felt it was a new topic and warranted a new thread. When I responded to the mods I felt their responses were quick and sometimes condescending and generally not understanding. This is an amazing place for redskins fans to go and bring their thoughts and opinions and there should be control with a certain level of freedom. Like I mentioned it has been a while since I have been active on this site however I had felt at the time that this level of freedom was lost. BTW - that gray area is what posts fall under a continuation of a thread and what is a new opinion or a new thought on perhaps a old topic.

I don't get why people don't like the mods here. Honestly, unless you are semi-retarted and or can read, you should not have a problem here.

I haven't had 1 problem here and I've been posting here over 2 years now.

However people still contiue to post, "Brad Johnson signed by Dallass" in HogWash... I mean, come one people...

I have actually said most of the mods here are amazing and have had many great discussions with the mods here over the past 3+ years. As a matter of fact, without naming names, I have had an amazing discussion with a mod tonight about these very issues I brought up. I also agree that if a news report has been brought to the board than it is completely warranted not have the second and third and so on and clearly those threads need to be removed or locked. What I am talking about is the opinion posts.

You then are subject to a 3 page debate about how Brad use to be a Redskin so it should be in Hogwash, or it gets moved to around the League and no one notice. It's a message board everyone is different.
the last thing we want to do is chase people away, but order must be kept. Some people understand some don't. I don't think it's people hate the mods (well some might) some people just don't like how we deal with them. Dealing with all people in the same fashion will not always get the same results. For us it's hit and miss and some people get rubbed the wrong way.

ike075 had a issue so he left  , He came back and found it differnt, most may not remeber him but some of us do, and I for one I'm glad he returned. IMNSHO this is the best Redskin site on the web bar none and if a redskin fan comes here follows the rules and can't enjoy it means something is wrong.

Just adding my 2cents I think the mods are a little strict here but I think thats what makes the site one of the best if not the best.

And even the mods are guilty of going off topic (only to reign it in at the end of their post) but I think that is also what makes this a great site, the mods are human and regularly take part in the community.

I'd just like to say that we're critiqued and are consistently trying to refine the ways we do things to try to make the users experience fluid and enjoyable.

I have been away for a while because of what I had personally experienced many months ago and what I had witnessed at the time on the board. From some of my offline conversations it seems what you are saying is true and is a testament to the strength of this group of individuals and especially to Boss Hog. A mods job is a thankless job, which comes with more struggle and friction than appreciation. It is good to see the board is and has been evolving to best accommodate the needs of all the skin fans.

Yes, this is a very stylish site...great looking, slick to navigate, but the members make it the best in Redskin-land.

Hail to the moderators, in fact.

(Sorry I've been away...someone snapped the on-off switch on my 'puter, and I've been too lazy to transfer the components to a new case. Oh, and this borrowed laptop has a broken 'T', so if I type funny, blame it on the keyboard.)

I'm guessing he's having trouble with the space bar everytime the "t" doesn't work
