Jimmy Sexton and Snyder are having lunch or dinner on Friday. Some of you guys seem to specialize in hypothetical conversations - can't wait - bring 'em on!!! (They've got a lot to talk about so maybe you can present a list of which topics and in what order those two will discuss them.)

The first thing Sexton will want to talk about is the deal with Ramsey. Gibbs, of course, said he loves Ramsey and he will get a chance to start in camp if we indeed get Brunell. But Sexton wants to hear certain things from Danny, like he will step in if Gibbs wants to start Brunell over Ramsey. This of course makes no sense to do since Gibbs is god and he will start the guy with the best chance to make us winners, but Danny likes control and agents really don't care about sound football decisions, they care about getting their clients paid.

Hostess: right this way mister sexton, mr snyder has reserved a booth by the fountain.

Sexton: dan, good to see you.

Dan: Jim, have a seat. how are things, did you get that new yacht i sent you? here's the final papers on the deal, all i have to do is sign here....

Sexton: yes, a 48 footer too, what a nice little touch.

Hostess: so what can i get you guys to start off with.

Dan: a bottle of your finest champagne.

Sexton: sounds great

Dan: so, jimmy, i really need you to shut the hell up. i'll pay you directly for any commission you lose through any of your clients. understood (snyder looking over the papers for the yacht.

Sexton: sure, mr. snyder, anything you say (eyeing the papers, AND the box of cigars at the table.)..... are those cubans?

Dan: yes, help yourself, here's a light.... so jimmy what i need from you is a reworked deal on samuels. we'll pay the signing bonus in 10 installments(smiling). we need to cut his cap number in half. i'll leave it up to you to convince him(smiling even bigger, almost sinfully). wow, says here the yacht has a whirlpool spa, NICE!

Sexton: yes, it's great. and chris will be no problem, the bigger they are, they harder they fall....(laughing)

Dan: we also would like to get a new deal on patrick, and since he's a backup now we expect him to be paid like one(wink).... make the deal for seven to ten years(smiling).

Sexton: oh, yes that can be arranged.

Dan: well then, when i sign right here...... there you go.

Sexton: (grabbing the papers)well, dan i'd love to stay but, i've got business to attend to.... i'll have my clients sign those new deals, and you'll have the paperwork in your hand by monday.

Dan: great. (shaking hands, sexton leaves at a fast pace, almost a run)

Dan: vinny.....

Vinny: yes, mr. snyder

Dan: as soon as we get those new contracts, be sure to call the police and report my yacht stolen. (grinning)

Vinny: but, you just signed over the papers....

Dan: true, but, it was my dog license.

Vinny: the one you bought for mrs. snyder, but it didn't work out?

Dan: yes, the 145 lb. st bernard with diarrhea. (still grinning)

Vinny: but what about the whirlpool spa?

Dan: it's a doggie spa..... be sure to send the diarrhea dog AND the spa to sexton via fedex also, when we get those new contracts in hand.

Vinny: yes, sir.

Dan: that is all, dismissed. (setting back with feet proped on table, lighting another cuban.....)

Sexton: Dan, I'd like to talk to you about some football related issues.

Snyder: Sorry Jimmy, Coach Gibbs handles all the football related issues. I merely sign the paychecks while I sit back and watch poetry in motion.

I have to disagree with you here Hail2daskins, the dozen or so agents I have talked to yes they do care about getting there clients paid and getting themselves paid, but they all agree that the best way to accomplish that is to place there clients in positions for them to shine. Winnings teams and players on them outshine the losing ones.

In fact 2 agents that i talked to always wanted to know what the O-line would be like for there QB clients that to me seems like they care about sound football decisions.

Of course, there is the possibility that there are a few agents out there who have hearts. But, to refute what you said...

Getting their players on good teams only increases the chances that they're going to win it all and be on a national spotlight, leading to big money. Remember last year? Who knew about Dexter Jackson until the Superbowl? And then he signed that nice conctract with the ::gulp:: Cards.

And a QB's agent worrying about the line? No duh, if their meal ticket catches one in the face from Ray Lewis or LaVar, they lose money too.

So agents care if their players are going to be protected and given a spot to shine on the field, but that benefits them too.

I guess the spirit of my comment was this: Sexton would rather see Ramsey start and the Skins lose than Brunell start and the Skins win. That is what i meant by "sound football decision" I'm not saying this would happen, i believe ramsey gives us the best chance to win, but if Gibbs, a much more wiser football man saw it otherwise, Sexton would be furious. This is why i think the spirit of his meeting with Snyder is to get some sort of definitive answer.
