Browns signed CB Kenny Wright, formerly of the Redskins, to a three-year contract.
Wright didn't have a great season in Washington, but was solid for the Jaguars in 2005. Cleveland needs some depth and Wright can play the nickel.

Wright signs three-year deal
Zac Jackson, Staff Writer
03.04.2007
The Browns added another free agent Sunday, signing veteran cornerback Kenny Wright to a three-year deal.

Wright (6-foot-1, 207) is a nine-year NFL veteran who played in all 16 games for the Redskins last season, totaling 39 tackles and 1 interception.
He originally entered the league as fourth-round draft choice of the Vikings in 1999 and played three years for the Vikings, three for the Texans, one with the Jaguars and last season with the Redskins.
He's the second defensive player to sign with the Browns this weekend. Both he and linebacker Antwan Peek played with the Texans when Browns defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was the Texans' defensive coordinator from 2002-04.
For his career, Wright has 7 interceptions, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 53 pass breakups. He should figure prominently in a Browns defensive backfield that saw veteran starters Gary Baxter and Daylon McCutcheon suffer season-ending injuries last season.
Wright will turn 30 at the beginning of the 2007 regular season. He's started 56 of 126 career games.

Man, what a shame. Kenny Wright was one of the best Redskins CBs I've seen in a long time and they just let him go like that... man what a great signing by the Browns...
haha wow that's even funnier when you read it aloud...

That's only because the Browns' defensive backfield has posted similar numbers since 1999, as well.

It has nothing to do with Walt Harris.
Kenny was beaten repeatedly and we didn't want him back. He would have lost his job but the guys behind him who stepped in were beaten more.
Walt Harris played fine, but he had serious injuries in the past and it was a gamble of how much we were willing to pay and count on a guy who was dubious.
The Niners took the chance and won, good for them, but that doesn't mean we would have if he'd stayed and gone down here.
So if Kenny goes and does well it means he played better then he did for us, not that he didn't get injured.

Kenny Who?
I think it's just great that he now belongs in the Around the League forum.
