It sucks, but you can't blame the guy, and I'm glad he didn't get that contract from us. Man.

John Cayton reported on Sportscenter he signed with the Bills. Tough loss, but I think the price tag was too high for us to keep him. Anybody know if we are eligible for a compensatory draft pick?

Sucks he isn't on the team but that is a huge contract. Loyalty and all but hard to turn down an additional 6 million than your origional team is offering....Bring on Todd Wade

Nope. He is/was a UFA

Wow... so that's what it feels like for another team to sign one of your important players....

geez, he was starting to get a lot better but that contract seems way out of proportion with his performance. have fun with that, buffalo.

Huh, I was wondering about that myself. Wade played great when he stepped in for Jansen. But could Wade move to a guard position? I did a little research on him a while back. I was looking to see if maybe he'd played the guard position at some point along the way, but it appears he's played RT his whole career. Don't know if he could make the transition, but it sure would be nice to keep him.

Dock's departure does leave a rather large void in the o-line, though. I do agree however, too much cash for that guy.

Dock Hit A Grand Slam

Holy bleep. here are the numbers I got for Dockery's deal with the Bills - it's basically the record setting deal Hutchinson got with the Vikes last year (the one with the poison pill).
I hear Dock got 18 guaranteed. Yeah, you read that right. It's worth a total of $49 milllion over 7 years; $23 mill over 5 years and $18 over 3 years. That's right, from the Bills.

Good for Dock. His agent, Todd France, did an amazing job on this one. I can see why the Skins didn't do it as well, given this market. They could have got him cheaper early in the season, but he had also yet to have a real breathrough season at that point as well and I could see why they tread slowly.

Holy moly. I still can't believe it.

I am not sure Leonard Davis will be great if these guys get him - he has some baggage but is a big body with plenty of ability - but I can't think he will command this money. My god, what will Dielman get!

On other fronts, Coach Gibbs says nothing done yet with Fletcher and Smoot. They left for the Wizards game and are still working on getting everything finalized.

Dockery took a while to get into things, maybe our coaches will have a better time with Davis than Arizona's. Wishful thinking, of course. At least he'll be hard to push out of the way. :D

I think we should bring back todd wade. Cheap and reliable.

He's not cheap, he's looking for a starting job... and he's a tackle.

We need to find a reliable guard and we have a little dough to spend as well as Betts, Lloyd and others as possible trade bait.

okay, last year it was like this with the Ryan Clark situation, everyone was like "oh whatever, he wasnt that good anyway" and then when we finish 5-11 everyone is like "man what kind of dumasses let Ryan Clark go"... this is the same kind of situation. i am pissed off, a good O-line stays together, do you know how much time it takes to build chemistry? a long time, that's why i feel our O-line has taken a major step down and we'll have one of the worst next year, regardless of who we get to fill Dock's shoes.

That was a ridiculous deal and I'm glad he got it some where else

yes i agree with you, but you guys cant blame it on the Skins when our O-line struggles next year. it'll take some time to re-build that chemistry, maybe even a couple of seasons.

That seems pretty dramatic to me, a couple seasons to rebuild chemistry when we lost one lineman from a unit with two lifers, one veteran all-pro and Rabach?

The loss of Dockery stings a bit, but the contract he got was ridiculous, and we can move on just fine without him. I don't expect the offensive line to lose much in terms of chemistry or effectiveness.

Dockery got steve hutchensen money. That's crazy. The bills way overpayed. I mean at best dock was our fourth best lineman. And he gets that kind of contract.

I bet all the teams are pissed at buffalo for just making the position of guard way overpriced. Everyone here on the board knows dock was good. No debating that. But lets really be honest with ourselves. He wasn't that good. We wish the best for him but for that price we can get a guard and a DE.

well, i exaggerated a bit when i said a couple seasons, but no doubt it will take a couple games.

so anyone have a feeling for who we might get to replace him? how about that guy from Arizona, are the skins interested in him?

Davis was supose to be at the Wizards game tonight with "the Danny" and his crew but I haven't heard if he is there or not. He talked to ttiT this morning.

Bummer, I really wanted the Skins to re-sign him during the season for like 5 yrs. 30 Million.

But once he hit FA I kind of knew he was gone. Anyways, I think this will be a huge loss for us and now we need a new Guard (I don't think the coaching staff has confidence in Molinaro yet) and is probably a new reason for why we should trade down to pick up like a late 2nd/3rd rounder and get a solid LG.

However, I do think he was overpaid and Buffalo will regret giving him that much, for just a good player and not a great player.
