Days like today are why I enjoy working for the local government. Get paid for staying home and doing nothing. Anyone else feel my joy?

No, I live in the area and I, sadly, have an online job so no break for me ... though I'm working from my bed which is a nice bonus

I work from home everyday, so today I just get to do it with my 5-year-old running around.

My dog (Bailey) loves snow days because I am home ... though something tells me her current behavior (sleeping on my bed) isn't too far removed from her standard behavior save that she can't get into the trash

So your efficiency is hovering around the 5% to 10% level today?

1) That's Smack-ish

2) Why? The government is by far the largest employer in this area, what is wrong with working for it?

I see you used "work" and "government" in the same sentence. That's where I lost you. What was the question again?

Why is that weak? If it is a joke then I just don't get it. I work in IT. They were the first ones that gave me a chance at systems administration so I took it. Now, I don't get "top dollar" but I am gaining the valuable experience needed for a phat pay day. Not saying my pay is bad (most I have ever been paid) but I have learned to be patient.

Plus the paid holidays, 7hrs a work day and all of the leave they give you also helps.

Ah, then I can tell you that the forecast calls for icy temperatures, with a major guilt trip moving in overnight. Scattered questions about when the grandkids will be visiting again, mixed with an accumulation of money will result in a flooding of gifts for the kids. There will be an excellent manicotti warning around the holidays.

He cheated.

If you check, I'll bet you find that the "straw-cam" was up and running the whole time. Bastage.

I only love snow days when you have power, food, family, etc. We've not had power since 7 a.m. yesterday and we've all had to split up and stay at different places. We are told we "should" have power by 11:30 p.m. on FRIDAY. That's not a good thing for all the food in the freezer and possibility of frozen pipes. I have a friend who is nice enough to take in me and my dog and the kids all went to other friends (with power). Not a fun snow day at all for us.

Please, please tell me Jake is riding a bike right now to generate enough power for the computer so he can post

It's not exactly efficient but ... OK, it's 100% inefficient but it makes him happy
