Make your own D

I am going to attempt to combine a lot of the topics into one. Many of these topics are defensive needs and draft picks. What should we do, who should we get. Well what I want to see is what everyones perfect d would look like next year but please be sensible. I will get the ball rolling with some side comments.

DE Carter, Jamaal Anderson (not sure I really want this but you will see why)
DT Griffin, Terdell Sands (I like Sands better than any free agent choice at DE because of his price and size which leads me to Jamaal over Branch)
OLB McIntosh Washington
MLB Lamar Marshall (sorry I still feel the guy can play, rough season with lingering injury and instability on the line, one more chance, save money on a MLB for a corner)
CBs Rogers Assante Samuels (I am obsessed with Samuels and would be happy if he was our only big splash, in my eyes a much better player than Nate Clements)
Safeties Taylor Springs****(undecided in many areas here, would like to see a safety by committee here, AA in running situations and a blitzer in dime situations, Springs in passing, Prioleau in the mix in nickel and dimes. I think all these guys if used correctly could work)

Ok I am done

Your emptying the bank, I can't imagine the amount of money it would take to get freeney clements baker and sign Branch. I am going to say this is impossible and it is what we are trying to avoid as a team

The Redskins don't have to abide by the salary cap

The Freeney and London Fletcher-Baker discussion needs to stop. These signings are the kinds that got the Skins in trouble in the first place. Baker is going to be 32 YEARS OLD next season, and Freeney will cost way more than we can afford. We can only afford one splash signing, and it has to go to a DB. Draft a good DE, sign a hole-plugger at DT, and maybe upgrade at MLB, but not with a 32 year old guy.

I agree, free agent cb seems to be the biggest discrepency on this topic. We have one clements, samuels and smoot so far. I think smoot is not physical enough at all and I am not always confident in where his head is at. I think clements is overrated and he is a great self promoter. I think Samuels is solid in one on one coverage, tackles real well (as does everyone in belicheks defenses), has a knack for making big plays and is young. I can't find anything I don't like about the guy other than he might get franchised and if he isn't I want to see the price tag on him

Agreed. Signing a CB from Free Agency who can make an impact is the number 1 priority.

I dont hink we can afford clements, Little, Briggs, and Arrington. We also only have 1 high draft pick. We can't get both Jamal Anderson and Alan Branch, 2 top 10 guys. You are dreaming me. It would be a great dream, but there is no way it can happen.

We can't get briggs and arrington and we wouldn't. We are not going to be a fulltime 3-4 team so why even get both of them. We can't afford all those players. Clements said he wants to be the highest paid cb, he won't be but he will still make over 7 mil. We are not going to be as wild in free agency in the past. So little, lavar, clements and briggs is out of the question

Updated

I would make four major signings in the offseason

1. Gaines Adams/Jamal Anderson/Alan Branch- Anyone one of these guys I would pick up.
2. Nate Clements/Ricky Manning Jr. - Whomever is cheaper both are good corners-
3. Terdell Sands/Vonnie Holliday/ Keith Traylor- I would go with Terdell Sands being that he is younger and more upside to him.
4. Lavar Arrington-This is highly unlikely but is possible. If he can humble himself and accept Vet minimum or decent price I say we bring him back. If he can bury the beef and the Skins can bury the beef. Then I say come home son where you belong.

We could make four signings that could put us over the top.

So heres my updated version on who I would pick up

DE-Jamal Anderson
DE-Andre Carter
DT-Terdell Sands- At 6-7 300+ much improved interior
DT-Cornelius Griffin
OLB-Marcus Washington
OLB-Lavar Arrington-
MLB-Lemar Marshall
CB-Ricky Manning Jr. - I picked up Ricky because he came at cheaper price leaving money left over to bring in Lavar.
CB-Carlos Rogers/Shawn Springs
FS-Sean Taylor
SS-Adam Archeletta- He should be improved with second year in system.

This lineup right here takes us to the Super Bowl baby no doubt! What a story! Lavar returns home reunited with Marcus Washington and Grim Reaper Taylor. The Redskins Defense Nicknamed "RED RAGE" Reek Havoc on the NFL QBs setting an Nfl Record for sacks in 2007 and earn SuperBowl under Gibbs.
With the help of free agent signings Ricky Manning Jr. , Terdell Sands and Rookie Jamal Anderson help propell the Skins Defense to number one Defense overall in the League!!
