I've always felt that Turner was the most mediocre head coach in the league. He'll probably go to the Cowboys though and turn into Lombardi.

Dear god, please let this happen. Please. Norval is awful, always has been, always will be, a change of venue is not going to matter.

Maybe. Probably not.

Norv Turner excels as an offensive coordinator. As a head coach, he absolutely sucks. I'm hoping the Cowboys sign him!

Actually I think his genius as an OC is a little overstated, sure those Dallas teams were great but they had a fantastic offensive line and three HoF players in Aikman, Irvin and Smith.
His recent stints aren't too noteworthy:
2001 San Diego: 11th
2002 Miami: 15th
2003: Miami: 24th
2006 San Francisco: 26th
Let me acknowledge here that we, of course, can't put all success or lack thereof at the feet of the OC but his track record isn't as impressive as you might think.

Amen. When Norv turns average offensive talent into a top 10 offense, the genius label will fit. Until then, he was merely very lucky.

One thing Norv would have is he would have a well put together team going into this situation, unlike his two previous coaching jobs, where he started with scraps.

It doesn't matter, those of us who are Redskins fans are speaking from experience, he simply isn't meant to be a head coach, period. I talked today to one of the more knowledgeable Cowboys fans I know (which would make him the only one ... HA) and he is
dreading this. The idea that Norval was hampered by inheriting someone else's mess doesn't hold for his tenure in Washington either, he was given plenty of time to establish himself. Too much time in fact. Norv as the head coach in Dallas will be an unqualified failure and I pray to god it happens.

Norv is terrible. And I can't believe Troy Aikman saying that Norv Turner is the reason why the Cowboys won the superbowl. Hey Troy can you say Jimmy Johnson.

The offensive line they had to work with was ridiculous.
There were multiple years the Cowboys put FOUR offensive linemen in the Pro Bowl. Average years, three offensive line went.
That's just stupid good.

I am with everyone in saying I hope he signs with the cowgirls. He is a pretty good OC but a horrible HC. He does have pro bowler Tony Romo

so he should have a lot to work with

I remember how happy I was when I read the news that Gibbs was returning to Washington. I think the feeling would be just as good, maybe even better, to hear the news that Norv is returning to coach the Cowboys.

I mean, you know Norv's team is going to shoot themselves in the foot at least 6-8 times each season. It's beautiful!

Norv Turner: (nearly) 7 seasons, 1 10 win season, 1 playoff appearance, 1-1 playoffs.
Joe Gibbs: 3 seasons, 1 10 win season, 1 playoff appearance, 1-1 playoffs.
More appropriate comparison.

He follows football, but you have to consider the team he roots for to understand why he doesn't understand

Hey, he won a Super Bowl ... as much of a freak occurence as that might have been, he does have a ring. God it's got to suck to be a Philly fan, even Swizzler Stick has a ring.

Jerry Jones should just name himself the head coach. He is always on the sidelines and calling all of the shots. It seems like a good fit!

You're not saying for(e)skin is a schmuck are you?
Yes, well done snipping for(e)skin's absurd comparison. We need to circumcise the demons. I mean exercise them. It's hard to take someone who names himself after part his pecker seriously anyway.
No smack here, referring to nothing but his self selected high school humor username.
