Marty Gags?

Another question: Commentators mentioned Marty not wearing a headset. A Charger makes a potentially game-icing pickoff. He fumbles it. Marty immediately challenges and runs around looking for a headset. Was this Marty gagging. Could his flustered attitude have shaken the team at that point?

Hindsight is 20/20. He went by his instinct. It could have been the call by a genius. It was a costly call for sure.
It is too much to put a single play as responsible for a loss. It was the pile of them that did them. They were a Superbowl caliber team those Chargers. It must be hell to be one of their fans today.

Marty needs to learn to keep playing football, instead of sitting on the lead, thats why he always chokes up in playoff's.
In regular seaon games he never does it, but it seems that when its the playoff's, he sits on the lead.

he didn't sit on the lead...L.T. only ran 23 times...they were passing on 2nd and 3rd down every time...receivers were dropping balls, players were extending drives with penalties and players were fumbling balls as well. there was no marty ball in this game...in fact, a lot of analysts said he should have ran the ball more considering L.T. was averaging 5 yards a carry...but if he ran more and they lose, he gets scrutinized for playing marty ball. i never liked marty as a skins coach, but this loss was not his fault IMO

Goes a lot without his Headphones (he doesn't call offensive or defensive plays). I'm sure someone was telling him to challenge the call.
The DB should have all been told to knock the ball down while in the hudlde. Marty didn't have on headphones so it was someone else responsiblity to pass that message own to the players..\
Someone should have had the reponsibilty to tell Marty it was a dumb challenge also.

Definitely not trying to blame the loss on this play. Just wondering if Marty was gagging here. Kinda like Greg Norman gagging - not necessarily by making a bad ball strike but by making a poor decision on shot selection in the first place - a mental gag. Is Marty challenging immediately on a seemingly obvious call and then running around screaming for a headset belying (spell?) his otherwise calm personna when the pressure is greatest? This was maybe the time to rally the troops and say "no big deal, it's not about the last play, it's about the next play" as he is known to say ............. in the regualr season ............... when pressure is not as great.

As HC, it is Marty's loss BUT that was mainly, IMO, because the offensive play caller (appointed by Marty) did not use the best RB in the league enough and a guy that has killed the Patriots in the past.
This is a L for Marty but it was not caused by Marty, per se, it was due to who he had calling plays. Now, it is always easy to second guess someone when the plays do not work, but shoot, when you have LT in the backfield and you are tied for the lead, you run the damn ball - Marty should have grabbed that guy and told him, "keep running the ball until LT is exhausted".
