It is a tough group of Hognosticators for sure. Joe is defending his crown.

Since it worked so well for me last week, I’m going to continue the self-deprecating theme and predict that HOSS kicks my rear end up and down the field this weekend. My picks, and, even though you didn’t ask for them, explanations behind the picks:

Pats at Colts: Colts win, 23-20 (43). A tight game throughout, sending many drunk, overweight New Englanders to the emergency room with chest pains. In the end, Vinatieri kicks a field goal to put the Colts ahead. In a last minute drive, Brady leads the Pats down to within field goal range, but the rookie kicker misses a 54 yarder, sending the Colts to the ‘Bowl. Later on, Brady and Belichick are arrested in a Indianapolis suburb for lewd public behavior after being caught cuddling in the backseat of Brady’s car. ‘He was just holding while I cried’, Brady was later quoted as saying. (The real reason for my picking the Colts is that I live in Pats country, and I’m darn sick and tired of hearing about them, most especially from my brother-in-law).

Saints at Bears: Saints win, 27-13 (40). Grossman finally has his meltdown and throws three picks in the first half. The Bears then have to turn to Brian Griese at quarterback after Urlacher eats Grossman’s head at halftime. At one point, the Bears look like they’re prepared to come back and win the game, but God then strikes them down halfway through the fourth quarter for trying to stand in the way of the Team of Destiny, forcing the Bears to forfeit the game, and vaulting the Saints to the big game.

So there you have it. My final picks of the year. Good luck to you, HOSS (but not really).

Both home teams win:

Chicago wins because Lovie Smith will review the tape of the Redskins-Saints game. 38 points.

Indy wins because Dungy will review the tape of their game with the Pats during the regular season. 45 points.

Total points: 83

Interesting analysis. I must say that I like your picks. Looks like I will be spending a very late night reviewing all the game day footage of joebagadonuts. I think our teams are pretty evenly matched and it may come down to two factors: special teams and coaching.
I'll have my picks in by Friday night.

My mom always told me I was 'special', so I may have you there.

My picks are as follows:
Colts win over the Pats-42 points

Bears win over the Saints- 38 points

I want the Saints to win but my gut tells me the Bears.

I guess joebagadonuts and I will know after the 1st game who will be going to the Hognostication Bowl. I must say it has been a fun ride so far.

Our scores have become meaningless. It really comes down to Pats v. Colts and manning v. Brady.

I like Polian, the Colts GM a lot because he is an ardent supporter of Art Monk, so, I am cheering for his team. It is time for Dungy too.

Hoss knocks out the defending champ, joebag, and moves on HB II. He is attempting to be the first regular season winner to also win the Hognostication Bowl. We may have to rename them Hossnostications.

snippets from the post game conference:

I just want to thank my players for playing their guts out....

We have a bunch of really smart players....
I want to say thanks to our fans. They are the greatest fans in all of sports!
My congratulations to joebagadonuts' team for a great game and season and we look forward to our opponent in the HBII. We'll take tonight off and be in early tommorow to start our game plan.

Thank you!

The second game was more of a nail-biter, but RiC overcame his history of choking to air_hog, and finally made it to the Bowl. The matchup is set. Read all about it here.

Well, congrats to you, my friend. A well-played battle. We fought our guts out, but we just couldn't get it done. It all starts with me. Seriously, well done. Kudos for going with your head rather than your heart, which I admittedly did not do. I thought the Saints might bail me out in the third quarter there when it was 16-14, but the decision to try for the long FG was the turning point which led to their (and my) demise. At least I lost to the regular season champ.

I wish you luck in the Hognostications Bowl. While I'm interested in the matchup between you and RiC, I'm really interested in how good the commercials are.

Peyton and I got the GORILLA off our backs. #-o

I must be the first Wild Card that makes it all the way to the THN SB.

Several very tough Hognosticators have been left behind in this conference:

1. EA7649 Wild Card game
2. JSPB22 First Round
3. air_hog Conference Championship

And now I have the top Hog during the regular season: HOSS

Are you ready to RRRRRRUMBLE????
