I don't know if this has been posted on here before or not, but HogsHaven.com had an article with a link to a presentation that was put together promoting Monk for the HOF. Everything Skins fan needs to check it out-brings back ALOT of great memories from my childhood.

If he doesnt get in this time (his last chance I believe), I will be very ticked off. More than I have ever been.

MUST we start this again? I'm getting tired of hoping for this guy. I've decided to just let it come by itself now. Whatever we do won't' change anything...really....
we all know he deserves it. he'll get it, lets be patient?!?!?! (though it'd tick me off too if he didn't get in this time)

I wasn't really trying to get anything started-I agree with you that we need to just wait and see what happens. However I felt that this guy did a really good job putting it together and all Skins fans deserved the opportunity to check it out--I don't see how anybody could keep him out if they seriously think about what they see.

We know you aren't being confrontational but we have talked about this every year since his eligibility. I think that we get so excited every year and he doesn't get in. It's just a big letdown.

Wow, this is actually really well done. Seeing this makes it even harder for me to believe anybody could be so moronic as to not vote him in. It just goes to show you how far loyalties and politics can push people from doing justice. Awful.

Don't forget:

Good stuff. I'm typically a fan of defensive players and offensive linemen, but Art Monk is my favorite player of all-time, and that video just reminds me of how much Art meant to this team.

By the way, don't forget you can get arguments and quotes for this discussion from our Art Monk Tribute page, put together by our own BH and TCWest.

I have nothing to say about Monk that hasn't already been said, but thanks for the link - I'm having a lot of fun watching the video.

Thanks for the link and as you can see from the link Redskin in Canada sent you this has been covered ad nauseum here - we all agree that Monk should already be in the HOF. It is still amazing to me that all of what is on that video has existed for all to see since Monk's name first came up - :thump:

I have always wondered why someone does not get into the HOF when they are eligible when they obviously belong in that sports' HOF - there is no way that anyone can convince me that Art Monk should not be in the NFL HOF already - even if they could only put in 1 player per year.

someone should put up a new HOF and just put in the guys that belong there - take out all those who do not, and there are quite a few!

At the same time baseball needs to recognize what Rose did - especially after what we are now seeing

You're getting tired of hoping for this guy? What? We should just quietly let this time of year slip by to avoid the emotional letdown that his non-inclusion has brought?
Man, am I glad that Monk never took this attitude on GameDay. I think we owe the man every moment we spend sitting on the edge of our seats, biting fingernails and waiting for the vote to come up.
How do you know that what we do has no impact? Peter King finally caved, didn't he?
Watch the video. It's a great piece of work. If nothing else, it'll remind you of why the topic won't go away.
More likely than not, you'll feel embarrassed for your post.
Monk belongs in the Hall of Fame...and until he's in there, you ought to be emailing voters and pushing for him.

Thanks for the props, Tonto...but that part of the site was all Mark. It was my privilege and honor to help with the legwork. Seems like a million years ago...

Just pull yourself together. Get a firm grip of yourself, stiffen your upper lip, and act like a man. No time to be getting Art Monk HOF fatigue now.

You never quit. You never give up. You never surrender.

That video was simply BEAUTIFUL. Magnificent career for a magnificent person. He better get in this time!!!

That was a great video. You can just tell by the way he played that he was the hardest working guy on the field. The media shouldn't be allowed to vote for the hall of fame. That should be left to the coaches of past and present. Anyone that has one working eye ball can see he is hall of fame material.

The message the guys that haven't voted for him are sending is that if you ARE a team guy you will not get in. Its an all about me sport now and it shows with all of the personal foul calls because nobody takes one for the team anymore. Possession Receiver? 13.5 YPC is not just a possession recevier. Monk was the guy that opened up the whole offense for the other guys to have nice careers.

He was the total package. Tough, ran great routes, made the catch when it counted, great blocker and had good speed. He did all of what he did with who throwing him the ball? Exactly. There are too many names to try and think of. Marvin Harrison has had Manning throwing him the ball his entire career but of course that will get over looked when he goes into the HOF. Jerry Rice? How about Montana and Young! No HOF quarterback and still put up the numbers that he did is staggering.

Get out your pitchforks and torches. We need to start rioting if he gets overlooked this year! (not really but thats how I feel)

I would vote for these guys, it's a pretty good list. Some of the oldest ones I don't remember, or don't remember well.
*Richard Dent
*Russ Grimm
*Ray Guy - I know a punter? But he was exceptional for anyone like me old enough to remember him. He may have been the greatest all time.
*Art Monk
*Derrick Thomas
*Thurman Thomas - I don't like him personally, sort of a putz. But I can't deny his accomplishments.

Do you remember that at the time (and probably since then, too), he was the first and only punter selected in the first round?

Russ Grim,Art Monk,Paul Tagliabue,Ray guy and Bruce Matthews should all go in this year. The rest of the guys will get in eventually. Monk is long overdue. It might be the year they may put Grimm and MOnk in together.
