things won't change until snyder feels a financial impact.
they won't change until gibbs looks up into the stands and sees them empty, because no one is bothering to waste their time and money going out to watch an incompetent, laughingstock organization show off their hapless product.

everybody, this is extremely important:

STOP GIVING THEM MONEY.

DO NOT BUY ANY REDSKINS MERCHANDISE.

DO NOT PAY GOOD MONEY TO GO TO GAMES.

let the stadium start looking like most cardinals games have in recent past-- almost completely empty... that is exactly what the redskins deserve, because we are now officially the cardinals, and it is never going to get any better until ENORMOUS changes are made in the structure of the organization.

we are the cardinals.

Oh dear, you're upset again, aren't you?

Actually, it's a pretty depressing article, mainly because I had expected the Redskins to stop making plain dumb decisions when Gibbs returned.

Still, it's a new year, and I choose to keep hold of my hope, thanks.

Scathing article and I assume all true.
This organization is a complete disaster from top to bottom.
The D is broken so bad, I am not sure it can be fixed so easily. The front 4 and the LB's were just plain BAD, as was the secondary.
JC And the Offense have done very well when it didnt matter, so it will be interesting to see if they are the real deal when it counts - thats the real pressure.
I would think JC needs at least another 1/2 season or maybe even a full season to come into his own. He did great, but there was no pressure to win.

I hate to say this, if Gibbs decided to retire now, I wouldnt be all that disappointed. 21 wins in 3 season is Crap. Coaches have been fired for allot less. They have to rebuild anyway after a 5-11 season.

From among all the criticism provided in this article, I agree with analysis made of Vinny Cerrato. I hope Joe and Dan bring a GM and let Vinny go at last.

I found this statement to be particularly valid:

"You don't have the depth because you don't have an astute personnel guy you can rely on to find some quality guys to hold you over on the cheap," the longtime NFL general manager said.

Like the Cardinals? In no way, shape, or form are we like the cardinals. The cardinals are consistently 10-20mil under the cap every year and have one winning season since they moved to Arziona. Comparing a Snyder team to a Bidwell team does not work for me.

Are you out of your mind??? If you don't want to be a fan then dont! Maybe we're not great, but I'm not going to stop being a fan because of it. And I'm not going to get mad at Dan Snyder for trying or compare the Redskins to an organization that hardly even tries!

If I was a Cardinals fan I would pay to go see them! Win/Lose or Draw I support the Redskins. If you want to jump off the bandwagon go by yourself, stop trying to pull our fans away!!!!

Did you see or hear the game Saturday night??? Opening Day at Arizona probably didnt fill the Stadium like we did, knowing we're not going anywhere having a 5-10 record!!!

I'm glad the 90,000+ fan (that were at the game) aren't anything like you!!!!

The lack of success with new players has angered some coaches. Several assistants said they are frustrated with the lack of support they receive from Cerrato and the scouting department; players said they sometimes joke about precisely what Cerrato does to earn his titles. Players said he serves as Snyder's eyes and ears at Redskins Park. "We all know why Vinny is here," one prominent player said. "Dan."

If this doesn't ring alarm bells, I don't know what would. I've been saying all season that Cerrato is a worthless yes-man who hangs onto his job by kissing butt and being a spy for the owner. And this guy is in charge of our 'scouting' dept? What scout with any self-respect would work for a guy like that? None, of course.

Its sad to say, but this organization is literally a joke. It is run so poorly that who knows if it will ever be fixed. Danny Boy wont really be concerned until he stops making money, and starts losing it.

Great plan. How is this suppose to help the team get on track for 2007?

Considering the off-season will have come and gone before any of this could actually have a impact on "the Danny's" billfold. What do you do for the time being?

I agree with you but it's kind of difficult this year :?
We do need to address a lot more needs through the draft but that cannot happen while we have the type of mindset that this group have been operating with.

I really hope we can get a GM type in here but equally as important we need people who are lot better at finding talent that is not obvious. By that I mean guys like Colston who was a WR at Hofstra and New Orleans selected in the 4th or 5th round. As I mentioned in another thread we need to get younger and we need to find some quality depth. We have very few picks so we really need some super talent evaluators and a GM who can give these coaches some players that can play.

Stop bringing in "stars" ..... start making better players out of who is available out there.

Oh and you might want to send your newly acquired seats to dcd - he does not want you sending any money to Snyder  that should help make our team better.

As a logical falacy, that is called begging the question. I disagree with your argument the Skins are a "laughingstock" with no hope to the future and we shouldn't buy their paraphernalia or go to the games. In your rebuttal, you assume the truth of your own statement and say I am enabling them being a laughingstock. I am disappointed in a poor year, but unlike you I am not devoid of hope. I think they have a talented staff and players and I think Snyder is learning even if he has a way to go and I'm just not sorry to have a billionaire owner who loves our team and will spend endless money and push every rule to win. I'm not crying, you are.

But seriously,

How do you enjoy football if one year removed from the playoffs you consider us a horrible fanchise? This is supposed to be fun and if you HAVE to win all the time, how is this any fun for you?

I like a lot of the players and most of the Skins fans. But there are people who if they are Cowgirl fans are sad for having to spend their time mocking their rivals and are even WORSE if they really, truly are Skins fans and just have no fun with the team, the players, the games or the experience unless the Skins are winning every year. One year from the playoffs they mock the team. One year from consecutive top 10 Ds they mock Williams. They only focus on the personnel moves they disagree with and even then ignore the cap and what we have learned since the move.

This is supposed to be fun, and you are calling for a ban. You have been trashing the Skins all year. If they really are your team, which I doubt, how is this fun for you? How is this a pleasurable pass time? Don't you have better things to do then hate the team you claim to follow?

The fix that is required to solve this mess is a SLOW one. Identify your 'core', maintain it, be loyal to it and fill in the gaps -- and find more guys to keep that core viable.

But we know this franchise refuses to do ANYthing slowly.

Yeah, I'm suggesting that the target for this plan bearing fruit is the 2008 season, not 2007.

Sacrifice an entire year to get it right? You probably think I'm still on a New Year's hangover. But I'm not. It's gotten that bad.

Why is everyone upset about an article that is pretty much the truth? Maybe because the truth hurts sometimes?

There is a story about 2 friends. One friend asks the other for a loan to pay for his wifes cancer treatments. The secnd fried says " why should I loan you the money, what have you done for me? The 1st friend says, I have never asked for anything before but I loaned you the money to buy your first home, I loaned you money to put your kids through college, I loaned you money for your own wife's medical treatment and you have not paid it back yet. So I am short of money. The 2nd fried say, "Yeah, but what have you done for me today?"

That seems to be Gibbs philosophy.

One of the tags that have been given Gibbs is his people skills. Forget Gibbs Super Bowl trophies, forget his last time here, forget the won/lost record, evaluate him on what he has done now. Sit back and take an honest look at what has happened to the Redskins since Gibbs came back. Place yourself in one of the players postion, make it personal; look at it from the point of that is your friend, teammate, co-worker who has busted their butt for the team, that is being treated that way. What do you see?

Gibbs return has had many good points but also major bad points. He has not treated his "core" guys very fairly. For the most part, Gibbs has stabbed the "core" players in the back. What do you think the others see as their future? Gibbs second tenure in pro football will go down as a failure. He has earned it.

The Redskins are the Cardials or the Raiders or the Texans and while they may not be a laughing stock, they are certainly not respected.

This franchise is still coasting off of Gibbs legacy....

To the outside world (non fans) this franchise is a joke.

What jokes?
Bruce Smith
Spurrier
Jeff George
Wuerrfel
Shane Matthews
Arrington
6 Flags
Obstructed View Seats
PHONY AUTHENTIC JERSEYS
Archuleta
Letting Pierce go
Retarded trades
Giving up too much for too little in return
Not having draft picks
Soley using free agency
Firing Marty when he was having success
Danny firing players behind Spurriers back
Excessive parking fee's
Fan Appreciation Day
Over paying for washed up goods

To the fans, it seems to be slowly sinking in that its not 1992.

Please for the love of all that is good in life....stop praising Danny. He's not living without heat in the winter time to save pennies for this team. He's not breaking the bank to sign these players. Stop making him out to be the saviour for this team.

The saviour for this team will be a GM. A GM that can tell Gibbs to chill out. A GM that can tell everyone to chill out. A GM that can manage trades that work out in favor of this team. A GM that wont mortgage the future away EVERY FRICKIN year.

But to some people, everything I've typed is make believe...

Gibbs said when he came back it wasn't 1992 so if they need you to point that out I'll bet they still aren't listening. Most of what you list has nothing to do with Gibbs and what's being put on the field. Gibbs didn't let AP or Clark go he doesn't do contracts if the aren't here it's because they left for whatever reason- more money, new environment, whatever but it was their call. You yourself keep pointing out that "the Danny" doesn't have trouble spending $$$

"the Danny" does everything he can for this team. He is always trying to do his best. At first it didn't matter to him how the team was doing.
1. The Redskins were making money
2. He was having a ball using the NFL as his own FFL
3. The Redskins were making money
At some point like other fans he got tired of fantasy football (or someone that really loves the Skins pointed out he could do it own line for free) and took a step back. It was after the firing of Marty and before he brought Gibbs back

You have been asking for the one consistent in all of this, in your mind it has always been "the Danny's" fault.

I've always stood up for him in these debates, yet he still hasn't done enough for me to type is real name. I'll call him by his real name when he goes back to the one inconsistent year since he's owned the richest team in professional sports.

The one consistent isn't "the Danny"... but I'm not going to answer the question for you either, you say you are a fan. I'm a fan too and I say "the Danny" ain't the problem.

Chris Luva Luva wrote:But to some people, everything I've typed is make believe...

Oh it's real and it happens every year not as much as in the past (even if you don't see it) But it ain't "the Danny" that's the problem with the team, As far as the price of water at FA day ... Beer is cheap and Gibbs would never go for that My 2 cents

I think a person can still be a fan even if they decide to stop supporting a team financially due to something the owner did or failed to do. What if Snyder decided to just pay the minimum salary for every player? He could conceivable field a team for well under $50 million, collect all the TV money, and even make a fair bit of $$ at the gate, as local fans of other teams paid to see thier favorite team roll over the low-budget 'skins. Are you saying you'd still pay the current (very high) ticket prices to watch THAT? I know I wouldn't. Just because I'm a fan doesn't mean I have to give Snyder thousands of my own dollars. Being a 'true' fan doesn't mean being a gullible idiot.

Are you haters Redskins fans? For crying out loud, we made the playoffs just last year. And consider the source of the aricle. J Lac is a redskins hater. He's never, ever been a glass half full guy.

Think I'm a fool? I've been a Skins fan since 1970 when I went to my first game. I've seen a ton of Skins football in my years. And I can tell you the team on the field this year was a group you can root for - yes, the defense was historically bad - but the players gave it all on every play. Go be a Browns fan for a decade and then come back and tell me how bad the Skins are.

I'm really surprised at the venom and doom in this thread.

Let's look at the glass half full.

We have a QB who is going to be a superstar and behind center for a decade. And guess what - Gibbs was the one who pulled a magic trick and landed him. Huh? Forget that did you?

We have a kicker and punter set for next year and our special teams rocks.

We have two 1000 yard running backs in the backfield. Gibbs traded for one and signed the other to an extension.

We have one of the best offensive lines in the game.

We have a defense that is one year removed from being top 10 and can be fixed with smart adjustments. Yes. They got old very quickly. It killed the year. But it's not a situation that is unfixable.

This year was awful. But the Skins were only destroyed twice. They could just as easily be 10-6 as 5-11.

We have a head coach who is not only willing to stand up and take the blame for this year, like a true leader, but is a role model with great passion for the Redskins. You think any other coach on this planet would have done better? Name him. Right now. And tell me how. Seriously. Name him.

If you really want to know what it's like to be a fan with nothing to root for, trying being a Browns fan, or a Cardinals fan, or any other team that has never won a super bowl and is constantly horrid.

If you want to keep hating. Invite me to smack.
