Alright, if someone would tell me I heard this wrong, that would be great.

I was listening to the Fox Sports reporter tonight, and he said because around 3,000 tickets werent sold at the Rams game, that the Redskins game would be blacked out, in otherwords, wont be shown.

Anybody else hear this?

Cause right now im super pissed.

In and around St. Louis.

I can see how people would be confused by the NFL's blackout rules -- since it hasn't happened here since, ummm ....., ever?

Well thanks for clearing that up, I am now back in holiday cheer.

i think if they tried to pull that blackout crap in the DC area, the TV station would get burned down.

i know they don't make the rules, i'm just saying people wouldn't stand for that here. it's utterly absurd.

the good news is, the game is actually being shown where i live (most of them lately haven't been, so i've had to go way out of my way to see them).
i guess beating the saints last week made us "interesting" enough again to actually be broadcast in the same damn state where the team plays!

Does that affect what Direct TV will show on the NFL Sunday Ticket?

Yes, if you live in St Louis and the game is blacked out there you cannot see it on Sunday Ticket. I believe sports bars can get the game though.

The Skins have sold out since sometime in the sixties and last I heard the waiting list for season tickets was about 20 years. The DC area is in no danger of a blackout for a home game.

I read somewhere that we've sold out everyone home game since 1958!!!

So.......needless to say I really don't understand the blackout rules myself!

I looked it up, the sellout streak began in 1968.

Second place is the Denver Broncos who began their sellout streak in 1969.

You got me. This map:

has the look of what would be the case if the Patriots had a 1:00 home game on CBS. But they're on the road. Same thing's happening in and around Indianapolis even though the Colts are on the road.

I guess there are special rules in play since it's Christmas Eve and all the games are being played no later than 1 p.m. local time in deference to the holiday.
