Hooah!

On PSP so can't type.

Good luck dodging those IEDs in Iraq. Now you can join these other fine Americans defending our country....

Seriously, congratulations, but don't allow yourself to die for some politician.

What is it that you wish to discuss?

That's all I have to say, for now, actually.

I guess this just seems a bit odd to stand out as its own thread. The congratulatory thread is here in The Lounge, and the off-topic conversation spurred by it is in the Smack Forum.

Is there nothing new that you wanted to talk about when creating this additional thread in the lounge, and (if so), why is there now a 3rd thread on this?

I think you might find the Congratulatory thread in the Congratulatory Forum, where people are only allowed to say "congratulations", or "way to go". There's also a Smack thread that has been moved to the Smack Forum where people are allowed to talk like they're in Grade School. So, this thread is for those that might want to say anything besides "congratulations" in a non Grade School environment.

Be careful though, by discussing what that the topic is I fear we might actually be a little off-topic.

The problem is that you used the congratulatory thread to post your political agenda. You have shown how poor your taste is and how little you really understand about the military and the people who fight to give you the freedom to criticize the government!

Well, I was unaware that it was a congratulatory thread, what with it being posted in the Lounge instead of the Congratulatory Forum. Not that I necessarily intended a poltical discussion. My intention was, and is, to persuade the young man from dying.

You have shown how poor your taste is.

Not in my opinion.

and how little you really understand about the military and the people who fight to give you the freedom to criticize the government.

Oh really?

OK, if you didn't want it to turn into a political discussion then why did you persist in posting this point of view? You posted it twice before anyone said anything to you.

And as for "persuad[ing] the young man from dying," don't you think that he is aware of the risk? I mean its pretty obvious what the point of joining the military is.

My second post was a link to an article which illuminated what I orginally wrote - That he didn't have to die for some politician, if he didn't want to.

Because my comments were under attack. I was fine with leaving at that, as I've written. I feel I was no more responsible than my antagonists, as I've written.
