DA 'BOYS' BILLION-DOLLAR STADIUM
ARLINGTON (Dallas Morning News) – The Dallas Cowboys new $1 billion stadium, scheduled to open in 2009, will include two quarter-mile-long steel arches and a retractable roof mimicking the famed signature hole in the roof. The largest and most expensive stadium in the NFL, it will also feature the world's largest movable glass walls, field-level suites and open-air end zones
The 'Boys' new digs will contain more than twice the square footage of Texas Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys for 35 years, and cost nearly 30 times more. Seating will accommodate 80,000 fans on an average day and up to 100,000 for special events, such as the Super Bowl.
Team owner Jerry Jones and Bryan Trubey of HKS Architects said the team's new home was designed as a world-class sports and entertainment venue for hosting many other types of events as well, such as a World Cup soccer match or Olympics opening ceremony.
Arlington voters approved the public financing two years ago. The city's share of the cost is capped at $325 million.
The Texas Rangers' traditional, red brick Ameriquest Field, just down the street, was also designed by HKS and architect David M. Schwarz.
More than 15 new NFL stadiums have opened in the last decade.

After this stadium opens, the Cowboys will pass the Redskins as the most valuable franchise in sports.
So let's enjoy that reputation for a couple more years....

I just hope Danny doesn't try and one up Jerry and build a stupid dome or retractable roof stadium. At that point they might as well change the team name and retire the B&G we love so well.
Can't see it considering how new FEDEX is anyhow.

I'm hearing that Texas-Arkansas might start a yearly series in football at the new stadium. Jerry Jones would approve.

Just this past week you could here DUUUUUUUUEEEECE VERY CLEARY on TV whenever the Saints ran the ball!
More proof that the old man has lost it! He's building a bigger stadium so he can fit more opposing teams fans in!

Public transportation in Texas?

That's like George Bush taking a Black girl to the prom.

Yeah, very attractive drawings.
Still, it reminds me of a very expensive pair of shoes. They look great, but you tread in something nasty, and you won't want to wear them. Once the Cowboys start stinking this place out, their fairweather fans will be off to the local rodeo.
And yes, I'm jealous. Fedex looks like a warehouse in comparison.

Put the haterade down, that's just an awesome looking venue... stunning were it not for the blue and silver accents.
And it will be the straw that breaks the Danny's back as to whether or not he's staying at Fed Ex. Too nice a toy for him to not try and at least emulate - especially if it looks profitable.
Cripes if that happened we'd be lucky to get a bottle of water for under $10.

Tickets went on sale last week
Lower-bowl seats will have one-time personal seat license (PSL) fees between $16,000 and $150,000, which will give each ticket-holder the right to purchase seats at the stadium for the next 30 years. Those who pay the license fees will have to fork over $340 per ticket for 10 games -- eight regular-season, two preseason.

And the taxpayers of Arlington are picking up a third of the tab. Way to stick it to the fans, Jerry!

That stadium makes FedEx look like a dump.
Wait!!! FedEx is a dump.
