ProFootballTalk.com says Chiefs are interested in Champ.

Take this as you will. ProFootballTalk could be way off on this thing. I have noticed that they have a tendency to report a lot of "breaking news" and when one of the things they reported actually happens they are quick to toot their own horn and use the "See we told you so" line and claim they broke the story long before ESPN.
In today's rumors section they say the Chiefs are talking to the Redskins about Champ. They even report that a deal could be reached as soon as today. I really don't think the Redskins are looking to trade him this quickly. For one thing, Champ has to decide if he wants to play in KC, then he would need to reach an agreement with the Chiefs. They don't report what the Redskins would get from the Chiefs. The Chiefs have the 30th pick in the draft, so we better be getting a whole lot more than that if this is true.

Gee, after being doormats to Peyton and company in the playoffs the Chiefs are interested in a Pro-Bowl CB. Go figure.

I just went over their roster again, to refresh my memory. They have a pretty good offensive line, and a real good tight end (when he's playing). Barber is there, but he stands out in my mind as a Redskin, not an Eagle or Chief. They have Dante Hall, Kennison, Morton at WR. They have Holmes and Richardson running. Folks, this just looks like an average team that overachieved last year. They had a real nice streak going for a while. I don't know if they have any personnel to offer that would take the sting out of losing Bailey.

How can a team with Trent Green, Priest Holmes, Tony Gonzalez, and Dante Hall be an average team?

Champ "Runs Like A Deer With Runs" Bailey.
As I've said before, this is the least professional site out there. These guys are bums who shouldn't consider themselves writers. It's an insult to every pro writer or amateur ones trying to become professionals.

I'd take their #1 this season and their #1 next season and DE Vonnie Holliday or their DL Eric Hicks from MD.

Devensivly, Those are the only 2 chiefs I would want. The ONLY reason the Chiefs did good is cause there offense would score so fast that they would intimidate the other team, but the good teams had no problems stopping them. Trent Green & Brad Johnson get are so over hyped and overrated, neither of them compare to some one like Peyton Manning. I think if you put most QBs on the Chiefs this year or the Bucs last year, you would get the same result. If you put a different QB on the Colts, they wouldn't even make the playoffs. Green & Johnson are nothing more than mediocare, why does everyone say they are so good?

The same way a team with Champ Bailey, LaVar Arrington, Deion Sanders, Darrell Green, Mark Carrier, Bruce Smith, Brad Johnson, etcetera can be average, my good man ! That 03 KC team was pretty good offensively, pretty bad defensively, pretty good on special teams. It's just my opinion, buddy. See, the way I look at it is, if I grade their offense with a 90, the defense with a 75 and the special teams with another 90, I get 85 for an average. That's an "average" average !
Man, they held Tomlinson to about 40 yards the first game of last season. After that ? They gave up 159 + rush yards eight times, and gave up over 200 yards four times.
Trent had a phenomenal year. Priest Holmes had that really good o-line blocking for him The WR were just guys. Did you see the playoff game with the Colts ? 5 drops.
I wasn't looking to say anything except they don't have anything that I personally would think is good enough to replace Champ on our roster. I'd want a player and picks.

The problem with that is almost all teams will get a lower score. What would be the best team? Colts, Titans, Patriots? What would there average be? Or the Panthers?
Relative to the rest of the league, an 85 is pretty high.
That being said, ranking teams like that is pretty stupid. There are so many other factors to consider...

Just wanted to jump in here. I came to this board to see what Skins fans were saying about the Bailey situation but thought I would reply to this. I am a lifelong Kansas Citian, Chiefs fan, and am a Chiefs season ticket holder.
First of all, on offense the Chiefs have pro bowlers all over the field. Trent Green went to hawaii this year, and was responsible for more than 50 plays of 20 yards or more this season. This season, with zero for wide receivers, he threw for over 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns, and had a >90 QB Rating.
In the backfield, Holmes needs no introduction. He set the all time records for both total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns this year. In 3 seasons with the Chiefs he's gained over 6,500 total yards and scored 61 touchdowns. Fullback Tony Richardson is also a pro bowler and among the best in the league at his position
The offensive line is the best in football, most will tell you. For three seasons now we've started the same 5 offensive linemen every game. Will Shields is a first ballot hall of famer. Willie Roaf belongs in Canton too. Tait, Waters, and Wiegman are all excellent players. They are physical and can run straight ahead, but are also the quickest group of linemen in the league and excel at pulling and getting outside to block.
Tony Gonzalez doesn't need to be introduced, but as for what you said about "when he's playing", psst...he's missed exactly one start in the last six years.
The wide recievers are the only weak point on the offense because we dont have a legit #1 wideout.
As everyone and their dog knows the defense is our weak spot. The firing of Greg Robinson immedately made it better. A shutdown corner and a DT that could allow Ryan Sims to play under and you have a pretty good defense.
It's pretty silly to call KC an average team that overachieved this year. For the second year running KC has lead the league in scoring. KC's giveaway/takeaway ratio was number 1 in the league, and I don't guess I need to mention Dante Hall, either. More touchdown returns this year than anyone in history.
The offense is dominant, the special teams unit breaks off a huge return or return for a touchdown just about every week, the defense is all that is keeping the Chiefs from the promised land. They gave up a lot of yards but were middle of the road in points allowed (#19), and good enough to win 13 times out of 17 this year.
Tune in and catch a Chiefs game sometime, they are exciting to watch. Seems like you probably just caught the playoff game this year, which was indeed a rout, but I wanted to post and let you know that KC was not a fluke.

I think it has been mentioned more than a few times that KC's offense is good. And I know that it is more exciting to see a 41-38 game over a 6-3 game. Special teams are good too. One of the earlier posts hit it on the nose...
"Offense - 90, Special teams - 90, Defense...where
I've always heard that defense gets you to the playoffs; I think it was backward for KC. Offense got them there, and a lack of defense made them choke.
Trent went to the pro bowl...yes. Man, I wish Ramsey had as much protection as Trent, maybe he would have been there!

I would say 75 for the defense. Against the run, they are not good. Against the pass, better, but still not good. The bottom line is that the defense has been bad all along, but early in the season when they were causing turnovers we were reeling off wins... giving our offense extra posessions is deadly. But later in the year when some people figured us out a little bit, started running the ball more, etc., the turnovers dropped off and our season did too, as a result.
Trent Green is my favorite Chief, I think. Trent is no Peyton Manning. No way. But, he has done a hell of a job the last two years. He's not that physically gifted but he gets the job done. When he's on he can throw it with anyone. But you hear him on the radio and in the local media here, and the guy refuses to take credit for anything he does well. He always responds to praise with comments about the good blocking, or the receivers getting open, or the game plan was great that week, or something. He never takes credit and he never blames anyone else when things don't go right. A freaking breath of fresh air after dealing with Elvis Girlbac. Trent Green can quarterback my team any day of the week.
