Ten Guys Who Have Worn Out Their Welcome

His team did make the playoffs last year, but this doesn't appear to be a franchise headed toward the Super Bowl anytime soon. Don't be surprised if Gibbs leaves the team or joins its front office this offseason.

Archuleta is the poster boy for overpriced Redskin free-agent acquisitions. The former Ram was given a $30 million contract this offseason, making him the highest paid safety ever. And then he lost his job to 35-year-old Troy Vincent.

Why even post this amigo? Why even acknowledge SI?

Nothing like spreading the hate!

We know that certain media is pushing this issue. Where is it said Bill Cohwer needs to go? Their record is exactly the same as ours. Doesn't look like their headed to the playoffs. Time to jump ship on them as well?

Joe Gibbs has NOT worn out his welcome and I guarentee you that if you look, you will find articles just like this during our slump last year, you know a year when we went to the 2nd round of the PLAYOFFS!

Why give credence to stories like this? We have all had our say about what we think about this or that player, this or that coach or this or that decision. Stop, look and think about this year. This is the year that the football god decided to urinate on the Redskins: Portis hurt, Moss hurt, Prelouli (sp?) hurt, penalties, mistakes and just plain bad luck. This is a year that no one on the team is having a good year so just write it off as the fault of the football god.

Portis is out for the rest of the year so he can heal completely, Campbell has a half year of games to get experience, we have half year of games for the offense to get more familiar with Saunders play book (rememeber the warnings about taking a year to learn?), we have half year of games for the defense to work out their problems......hummm, maybe the football god just put our Super Bowl run on hold for a year until we learn our systems!!!

I feel better already.

Good question. I think I have a guess for an answer.

We all have different ways to deal with frustration in the face of defeat. Sometimes some will even acknowledge negative voices even if they know in their hearts that they are wrong.

1) Gibbs.

I -love- the fact that Joe has to prove himself -again-. He had been given almost a free-pass by everybody. I love him. But I think that he works best when adversity is greatest. He is the right man to guide us out of the woods.

2) A. Archuleta

I do not feel that he has been played in positions that appeal to his strengths. In fact, it has been quite the opposite. Defense as a whole has not played a G. Williams style most of this season. Williams has gotten a bit of a free ticket on this ride also. he shouldn't.

Acknowlege as in agree? I think not. I stumbled on it and posted it, it was that simple. If I wanted Gibbs gone I would have started a "fire joe gibbs thread".

I'm really not trying to pile on, I don't question your loyalty or anything of that nature, I'm just of the opinion that SI has done so much to slander the Redskins that they should never, ever get the benefit of having anything they do featured on this site

Nope. As in the first defintion of the word -acknowledge-:

Main Entry: ac·knowl·edge
Pronunciation: ik-'nä-lij, ak-
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -edged; -edg·ing
Etymology: ac- (as in accord) + knowledge

1 : to recognize the rights, authority, or status of

(in this case Sports Illustrated)

I appreciate all the input that is posted here but it is my choice to never "click" or open a site that is from that rag. I wish others would also do the same as I think it only lends some credence to their BS but that is every persons right.

I recommend never opening a SI site My 2 cents

I hate all these dictionary cut-and-pastes we're seeing here lately.

I am sorry but I do, no other website has a good stat box like theirs, I am not just talking NFL, NBA, NCAA sports. Its always good to here what other people say. Study what the opponent will say u can better defend ur team, I am not going to lie I don't defend any of my sports teams unless I am on them, because guess what they don't pay my pay check.

We know what they say about people when they assume.

You'll never find a quote from me saying that, Ive stated the exact opposite on numerous occasions. I guess there are only certain times we can mention SI.

All I did was heap some more wood on the fire to keep the forum going. Ive always posted articles from SI since Ive been here. I posted pictures from there also. Im happy that I couldnt careless about all the responses aimed at me in this thread. Keep'em coming guys, feel free to take your frustrations out on me however you see fit.

Call me a bandwagon fan, call me a Gibbs hater because those opinions are just as accurate as what comes from SI. (Except what they said about AA  )

Fired....I know I said the scouting dept earlier but I take that back. A GM needs to be hired.

Irn-Bru wrote:If Gibbs wants another season after this one I believe he'll work as hard as ever and could be successful.

He has forever in my book.

Irn-Bru wrote:Gregg Williams' D is having an off-year but I don't see why he couldn't fix it. It's clear that things went wrong this year, and I've got a lot of confidence that he's the man to fix it all.

I dont have that confidence? How are we going to fix it? 10 more free agents? We dont have any draft picks left. Its nothing against Gregg.

Irn-Bru wrote:As for Saunders. . .everyone knew that it would take upwards of a year to master the system, but it seems that few fans have the patience to be content to watch it develop.

But why watch is develop 2 years in a row? Why watch MB04 struggle just to have him benched next year and have to watch JC07 struggle too? I agreed that MB05 gave us the best chance to win in 2006 but he's turned into MB04 and well...2-5.

Irn-Bru wrote:This reminds me of Gibbs' first year back in '04. Give him time, and give the players time.

Thats the problem, we dont give our players enough time and/or money. We piss them away at the slighest twitch of their mouths asking for a raise.
