Back To Basics: Burgundy Pants & Pound the Rock

Now that the torch has officially passed to Jason Campbell...we need to return to Redskins football, but with a twist.

I say off with the White on White. Go back to the Burgundy pants, and along with it...pound T.J Ducket and Ladel Betts just like we did with Byner and Riggs.

Use J Campbell to air it out to our receivers off of play-action, but re-establish Redskins identity. But this time with a mobile quarterback, something that this team hasn't had in a long while.

Well I have Betts on my fantasy team so I want to see plenty of him.

That philosophy is great, and i'd love nothing more for it to happen, but it's not Saunder-ball. Thats Gibbs-ball. Unfortunately whats more likely to happen is exactly whats been happening all season. By that i mean conservative passing(those damned screens and nothing that requires a pass to travel more than 15 yards in the air) and off tackle outside sweeps, pitches, end-arounds. Also, Gibbs hates turnovers. And seeing as how that is inevitable with a rookie QB (interceptions) Gibbs might even let Saunders go the other direction and be even MORE conservative and never let JC air it out. I'm also voting for the white/white to stay.

I like the white on white, Also I dont see much changing with the offense, Jason Campbell wont throw many long passes. But i think Betts is going to do a great job the rest of the way for us

I think it's up to Campbell and how he plays. I am old enough to remember Gibbs entire career and recall no time that he didn't allow a QB who can throw down field to do so.

We are going to get lost of runs, not doubting that.

I'm just saying if Campbell delivers we will see him throw downfield plenty too.

I like the White on White too from a look stand-point...but just like changing to the white correlated with stringing together some wins, I'd hope that the change would correlate similarly this year.

Granted the wins can't be the direct result of the Uni-change...but who knows what the psychology of that is....maybe if they see a change, they will start with a fresh outlook on Skins ball,

I hope we do see some downfield passing, i just dont see it in the near future. Although Gibbs has never kept his QB on a leash as far as un-corking one downfield, he's never had a rookie QB make his first NFL start under him either. I expect conservative play sunday, I hope for fireworks.

Runnning a lot would be a good thing. It can build confidence and it sets up the play action pass. Both would be a good thing to witness. You know that the Bucs D is going to come with all kinds of fancy blitzes. We need to run and run effectivley. If we can run, expect some big shots down field.

Bring back the burgundy! I am sick of seeing white and its time for a new era! We need to take down the "white flags" aka jerseys and switch back to the old school way of doing things.

I thought this team was burgundy and gold??

Leave that all white trash for the colts. We need more B&G blood on those unis.

Campbell's not a rookie.

I never liked white because the Cowboys did it first. For years they were the only team that played white at home. That's a good enough reason to me to never do that.

We need to go with burgundy jersey and burgundy pants with gold and white number. I Have been a fan for34 years and i cant recall ever wearing burgundy on burgundy that would be a good change for the new rookie qb and the team.

I am not really up on either the Chiefs or Rams offense when Saunders was there but I seem to remember that they were both #1 offenses in the league and that both produced many, many long touchdowns.

The white on white look suckles the cold hard teat of Mama Mediocrity. It just doesn't LOOK like the 'Skins out there.

And I, too, have Betts on my fantasy team and am willing him on to greatness...

I've been saying all year that our pants were our problem.

I'd love to see us go back to the ol' skool but they still have to do it on the field. I say that they should stay with what they got because the old uni's are all we have left at this current time to remember the glory days of Gibbs 1.0 and the Hogs. When they turn this thing around, which they eventually will, then we go back to those uni's and really represent.....

I'm actually pretty sure the skins will be wearing the burgandy jerseys with white pants again this year in Tampa

I like both KAZOOSKINS and CHRIS LUVA-LUVA...You made some incredible points, especially needing to showcase more of our Burgundy.
But 34andCounting...said it best, we should wear our burgundy on burgundy!!!! To me, our burgundy is the best combination in the league!
We would terrorize teams simply with our Beast of the Burgundy and Gold Look... 8)

I demand to know why gold pants weren't an option.

I like the uniform colours too.

I did not vote because there is no burgundy jersey with yellow pants.

I actually think this would work, but some people think it would make the players look like their in a one piece outfit. But the Ravens go Black Tops, Black Pants...and it looks fine.

That's not true at all. Saunders has been conservative, this year, in DC. He has never, ever, been conservative in his other places.

I think it was more of a function of limited the offense to play to Brunell's strengths, rather than Saunders suddenly becoming short-ball Jon Gruden.
