To Mark Brunell....

Mark, first, thank you for being a warrior and trying to extend your career with this team.
Thank you Mark for helping us turn it around at the end of last season and getting to the playoffs.
Thank you for fighting your guts out week after week even though your body has betrayed you.
Thank you for being a class act on Sunday with the way you answered Steve Czaban's questions and standing up as a man in adversity; last year when you were replaced by Ramsey and the class act that I expect you to be in supporting Jason and this team. It's hard being replaced and I know you don't like it but I am sure you will be a true professional.
The time has come for you to pass the torch. You had great success in Jacksonville and flashes of brilliance here but the time has come for you to teach and help the "future". I think that you will be a valuable asset for Jason and even Todd, with your experience and knowledge. It's your body that has let you down and you shouldn't feel bad about that. It happens and nobody can beat Father Time, especially in a sport as violent as Pro Football.
Many of us on this board have been calling for your replacement for quite some time, but not because you are not a smart QB but mainly because the one thing that bought you success, your body, has now failed you. Today's NFL has players on defense that are lightning quick and your ability to avoid them like you did successfully in Jacksonville for many years, is no longer there. You now need more time to throw than before because your body is broken and the time to throw has gotten shorter than before. Don't take it personal because no one can play at their best forever....
Once again, thanks....

You may be correct but I wanted to pay my respects now because I don't think he's getting his job back unless Campbell is seriously hurt. Plus, he could very well become a "Cap Casualty" this summer anyway....
Even though the fans and the media have been calling for his replacement, he still deserves a measure of respect for the way he has handled himself this entire time and the effort he has put out in spite of his body and offensive line failing him.....

well written roybus! I agree, I was calling for his head bigtime, it's cut-off now, and thank him for the 2005 season. It's time for a change, we all could see and feel that. That time has come. Hope Brunell is a professional and works his butt off teaching Campbell to get him to lead this team to win after win. It's gonna be rough for awhile, but at least we will see the field begin to be stretched finally. There will be picks, but I doubt 90% dumpoffs from now on. Patience. I got enough patience for rest of year and maybe 1st 5 next, then i'll be calling for campbells head if he ain't cutting the mustard. Hope week 5 next year I'm feeling good!
It's really a math issue.

I thuoght the same thing until I was enlightened in another thread. Read for yourself:
BossHog wrote:Talk of Mark Brunell doing anything here next year really just shows a lack of knowledge of the facts at hand if you ask me.
You don't pay a guy 6.5 million dollars to back up any position... even quarterback... especially when you can cut him after this season and save over 2 million off of what his cap number will be next year. They can cut him, pay out the contact AND sign a replacement with the same amount of cap dollars spent for 2007.
He won't be a Redskin next year and while the smart thing to do would be to wait until after June 1st to cut him so that we could spread the cap hit out over two seasons, I'm sure the Redskins will release him ealy to give him an opportunity to catch on with someone else if that's what he wants to do.
The only way you'll see MB in D.C. next year (in my opinion) is if he retires and comes back as a position coach a la Ray Brown this year.

"
As Brunell's #1 fan, this is certainly a tough pill to swallow, but, Joe's gotta look out for what's best for the team, and carrying a multi-millionaire backup might not be the in the team's best interest. We already have a million dollar back-up, who's been in this system longer (Collins).

Barring an injury to Campbell Brunell has thrown his last pass as a Redskin, probably in the league.
Well said!

My sentiments exactly roybus14! Though I've not been a Mark Brunell fan during his somewhat tumultuous tenure in Washington, I've always admired his body of work with Jacksonville and I've always tried to accord him the respect he deserves based on those achievements (though after some shots at the bar I could be seen screaming at the top of my lungs for him to retire). He was a smart QB and decent scrambler in his heyday and I felt that he was instrumental in our success the first half of last season. And I will never forget the first Dallas game of last year. That was one of the greateset Redskins games I've ever witnessed!
Good luck Mr. Brunell. You won't be missed but you will be respected.

Thanks for breaking the consecutive completed passes record. That was fun.

Well put. Criticism comes with the territory, but you have to appreciate his service under some tough circumstances. Thanks, Mark.

It's really great to see some of the people that have been pissing all over the guy undo everything they ever said by NOW saying they respect the guy or wish him well.
That takes real.... well it doesn't take real anything actually.

Dude, you really crack me up.....
Question: Don't Site Admins and Site Staff on Message Boards only come out when people break the rules of the board, otherwise, they are never seen or heard???? And if they do peek out like the infamous groundhog, isn't it under another moniker without Site Admin or Site Staff posted all over there Avatar???
Just wondering, actually.....

You're right, I shouldn't participate in my own message board. I mean I started the thing so that I could speak to other Redskin fans since I live n Canada and there aren't many here.
But it is ridiculous that I particpate on this message board isn't it?
I'm just a Redskins fan man. I have a right to state an opinion on here as much as anybody else is. If you don't like that arrangement, I can't help you.
Isn't the better question here who are YOU to say who does and doesn't particpate on this message board?
Of course, it would be a question for a different thread because this one is about Mark Brunell...

You ask for an explanation, then whine about getting one. If you have any other concerns that pertain to me personally then I suggest that you either PM me or take it to smack.
This thread is about Mark Brunell. Thanks.
