Plays like he is bored.
Follows too many recievers into the endzone as they score six.
Made 1 semi decent hit yesterday.... oh, that was 10 yards out of bounds and flagged....never mind.
Doesn't seem to give a crap when he is stinking it up.

Taylor's gotten (more or less) a free pass on this board, with all of the focus on our QB and how bad other players in the secondary were / are playing.

I've never been impressed. I see no evidence that he has much of a grasp on basic fundamentals.

Taylor is a good player, but he is too aggressive and bites on pump fakes and double moves WAY too much. He's got the talent and the tools to be dominant. He just needs to exercise more discipline on the field.

I blame the coaches. I think that Taylor could be a Pro-Bowl Strong Safety because of his speed, athleticism, hitting, leaping ability. But his strengths are marginalized when we ask him to play Free Safety.
We should have recognized this and played him at Strong Safety, and kept a good coverage Free Safety on the roster.
If he played SS, and we had a true FS, we'd be taking advantage of his strengths and not exposing his weaknesses.

Taylor reminds me a lot of Roy Williams. Hits like a monster, but can't cover worth a lick.

last year our pass defense was noticably less dominant whenever taylor wasnt on the field... i cant really put any blame on any particular people this year it just seems like the whole defense is to blame

I agree because he can definitely cover TE's at SS. But now the question is, do you shake up the defensive secondary and go and get a FS via free-agency or the draft? I think that the draft would be the best bet to build continuity and a "farm" system. Trade or dump AA to get something out of it; keep Vincent to groom the rookie and move Taylor to SS. I think that if you move TA to FS, he is savvy enough to not give up the big play. Besides, at this point in the season, make that change now so that Taylor and Vincent can adjust to the new roles. This team is not going to make the playoffs so what will it hurt???

I agree...but we don't have any draft picks.

Speaking of our secondary, who leads the team in interceptions???? Phillip Daniels a defensive lineman (not even a good one) Are you friggin kidding me? We dont even have a blind squirrel to find an acorn in our secondary right now. Just Horrible, absolutely horrible. I give taylor no free pass he has been really bad this year along with the rest of the team. Losing and playing bad is definately contagious.

Interceptions? What are those?

Taylor does indeed play like he's bored. He seems like he's just going through the motions out there. He definitley looked more energetic last year. I read somewhere (the Times, I think) that other players are saying that he misses Ryan Clark. Go figure.

You know what, I heard that too. And quite frankly I miss Ryan Clark as well.
Sure, Clark didn't have all the talent in the world, but he was a Redskin.
And that's exactly what this team is missing.
We're missing the energy, the spunk and the mean streak of the defense.
Guys like Pierson Prioleau, Ryan Clark, Omar Stoutmire... Those guys played with energy and to win.
And in my opinion AA seems like he cam here for the money and I honestly think he could care less that he doesn't even start anymore.
Now I'm just pissed that our front office let Omar and Ryan and Smoot (even though he wanted more than he was worth) just walk out after they helped us make the playoffs.
I mean, what the hell is wrong with our front office.

I wish Prioleau wasn't hurt. I think he wouldve helped but we definitely should have kept Ryan Clark.

any chance we go out and get Darren Sharper from minnesota ...I'd like to see someone throw on a Taylor/Sharper tandem. Taylor probably is bored being the only consistent player on defense this side of marcus washington. Our d-line stinks and our corners stink Rogers i am willing to work with because he was a major investment. But springs is out after this year and we go FA shopping for corner, dline and oline

I say yes on Sharper only if he is tradable and has years left on his deal and we swap him with Archuleta. If this would be another free agent signing, then I say find a way to get a draft pick and draft a FS. Move Taylor to SS and Vincent to FS for the next year or two so that you can groom that FS draft pick to become a starter either half-way through next year or in 2008.
This team has to start building from within and stop throwing money at people. Throwing money at people has only gotten us guys that take the money and under-perform. Look at the roster of people we have had here that went to the pro-bowl before they got here and when they got here never went again after they got the money. You had a good nucleus of building from within on the defense but you left "core guys" like Clark, Pierce, and Lavar go. I am still not convince that with enough work, that Lavar could have been what they want Carter to be now. Lavar has been and will always be a pass rusher and GW and Dale Lindsay should have not been so arrogant and found a way to effectively use that dude as a pass rusher.

The Skins should switch to a 34 defense, put Taylor at OLB, keep Vincent and AA at safety, and see what happens.
It couldnt be much worse that the defense has been this season.

Why in the world would the Vikings trade us Sharper for Archuletta?
The guy is absolutely terrible in coverage and he has a huge contract. He's not like exactly prime trade bait. We are stuck with him unless we cut him.

Cutting AA would be such a cap hit unless Cerrato has some magic in the deal. I want a hard hitting, pass covering safety to replace AA and I think Prieoleu is capable of being that. What a loss that was.

sean taylor sucks this year. and i don't mean "he's overrated". you can be overrated and still pretty good but not great. this year, he just plain sucks. i've seen him miss more tackles than i can count. he's nowhere near the league of the elite safeties. not even close.
i forget who but someone said he's becoming our new lavar arrington- all the physical tools in the world, tons of hype, a big play here and there, but no consistent production.

Hahahaha. Taylor is consistent this year? Perhaps consistently beaten. Doesn't belong mentioned in the same breath as Washington for quality of play. Taylor's having a really awful year.
