Do You want GW as your head coach now??

I don't think anyone has said it. This team has gone from #3, #9, to dead last. This defense is putred!! I was embarrased to be at the game today (thank God it was a free ticket)! I don't think I would want him as HC as this decline is a horrible and infectious trend. I was giving AA hell all year when this whole unit just is plain bad.

No. There's nobody else I'd rather be their Head Coach. Yea, I think it has been a mistake to stay with Brunnell, but as much as it sucks I'd rather have Brunell as Quarterback under Gibbs than Peyton Manning at Quarterback under anyone else. As far as I'm concerned Gibbs IS the Redskins.

Yeah, I too am starting to get a little frustrated with GW's blitzing schemes.
I mean, there are too many delayed blitzes that accomplish nothing, and I don't know if it's poor stratagey or poor execution but everytime I see one of those I know we're about to give up a big play.
But what really made me mad today was on Philly's first drive, when we overloaded the Weakside ( I think it was the weakside) and McNabb was like "Okay..." and just ran to the other side for like a 12 yard gain! That was just a stupid call.
And another thing I've noticed is I think we're playing too much zone. I mean if our LB's aren't blitzing they're playing zone and all they do is kind of sway side to side and watch the QB's eyes. Then the WR just runs right behind them and the QB picks apart the D.
And finally we need to TACKLE! I mean whatever happened to Greg Williams Rule of Thumb of wrapping up and bringing the runner down? Now all we do is hit them with the shoulder and they get like 4 more yards. We definitely need to tackle much better.

No. Look at GWs record in Buffalo. He was great at Tennesse when he had a gifted set players, but not as a head coach.
I really don´t think he´s the answer for the Skins because of the ineptitude the defense has shown this year. If you think Gibbs is conservative, wait till you see a Williams-coached team.

I think GW's packages are great. But to think they can work with anyone is crazy.
You can't win without talent period. So L.A. did not fit into his plans?
But Holdman does?
I think we need to start sticking with, and paying our home grown talent, instead of overpaying telent from other franchises that never work out.
(Talking about the Defense)
Carter has not lived up to the hype and is starting to remind me of another guy who used the monkier "Big Daddy"
Man I can't stand seeing guys land on othere teams and become productive while the guys we pay these huge contracts end up busts.

Now? No.
In the future? Most definitely.
I have a lot of confidence in Gregg Williams. I would love to, sometime in the future, see him as the head coach of the Redskins. Yes I know that the defense has some problems this year, but does that negate what he was able to do with the defense last year? He's a good coach, and I think the players have a lot of faith in him and believe in him.
With that said, he has to have a good support system, meaning offensive coach, defensive coach, a GM (he would need a freaking GM).

Gibbs will not abandon this team, he signed for five years and he has 2 more.

I think that Gibbs will stay too, but I'm not so sure that's whats best for the redskins. Sure he was great in his day, when Jack Kent Cooke was throwing big bucks around to put stars on the field and on the bench, when there was no salary cap. Now, however, he is clearly pedestrian. He doesn't even believe in himself...he doesn't call plays anymore...I, being a Cowboys fan, had a hard time realizing when the game had passed Landry by too...that's life, it happens. I know somebody here will probably shoot down everything I say by saying, "he's a Dallas fan, of course he'd say that", but believe me, I'm saying what I think is true. It's hard when legends lose their edge. Loyalty is admirable and honorable, but you have to be honest with yourself. Gibbs should leave before he does more to smear his good name....but I hope he stays!

Wait a minute!! Saunders and Williams are the ones calling the damn plays, why would anyone want them as a coach over Gibbs at this point!

I don't think that GW will do any better because of his arrogance and oh, let's not forget that he "Hand-picked" Archuleta who they gave a $10 million dollar bonus to that is now riding the pine behind a 15-year veteran that just walked in off the street.

The Skins Defense gave up 20 pts on the Road - thats not really that bad. Thats not to say they havent stunk it up the other games....
What is bad is the Offense - the play calling was horrific yesterday. They cant throw a pass? They keep running down by 17? HA! What an joke.

I hear peolpe on the radio whining about the defense.
Our defense could have held the Eagles to 0 yards on offense but the Skins still would have lost due to Brunells TD pass to the wrong team.

I am in no way disputing the horrible defense this year. Just curious. Since your standard for a coach is to have never been unsuccessful at any point in their careers, injuries irrelevant. Who are your candidate?
I think a better standard for a coach is their capability for success, GW has shown in spades. The NFL is a difficult business with a steep slope. Good luck with finding one when you eliminate everyone with any blemish on their record.

That's what I find to be most frustrating about the way Gibbs handles Brunell, it's fine to have faith in a guy and stick with him but when he makes the kind of terrible passes that a rookie would make (and he made a few of those yesterday) he should be benched for that.

But Brunell gives us the best chance to win now! He's a super-smart veteran who fights his guts out! And he doesn't make rookie mistakes like throw interceptions for TDs! REAL fans have faith in our flawless coach, who makes no mistakes and is smarter than you, and knows who the starter should be. If Joe Gibbs wants to throw away more games with Mark Brunell as our starter, then that's good enough for me!

But Gibbs -- or Shula, Lombardi, Walsh, Parcells, you name it -- can't succeed in this cluster-*** of an organization.
The virus permeates the club -- from the top of the food chain on down.

At last GW looks like he is p*ssed off during the games. Unfortunately I think this team needs somebody with some fire in their guts willing to call people out and god forbid make a change with the guys who aren't getting in done.

Really. Not to mention; 16 completions, 10 of them for less than 10 yards.

I was really glad to see Joe Gibbs return to the Redskins. I thought that now we would get back to being the power team that we were during his first tour. After last year, I thought that we were on our way. That is not the case! It is painfully apparent that Gibbs is not going to be the Redskins savior and that he NFL has passed him by. I do not wish for 2 more years of Joe Gibbs.

Are you Steve Czaban in diguise??? Kidding... Seriously though, John Riggins asked the "game passed him by" question on the radio last year when he was still on Sportstalk 980 and everybody thought that he was crazy. He saw it in his body language, his decision making, his inability to effectively use the replay challenges but people poo-poo'd the notion. Riggo has always been known as a rebel and one to speak his mind and I think that there was alot of merit to his statement back then.
Let's look at what is known:
1. Gibbs won three SB's his first go around;
2. Joe Gibbs was out of Football and in NASCAR for 13-14 years before coming back.
3. Free agency, players, money, rules, etc. have all changed since 1991.
4. Offenses and Defenses are fancier and more advanced then they were in 1991.
5. The costs to be a fan has doubled or tripled since 1991.
With all of those being said, the NFL is not the same NFL that Joe Gibbs walked away from years ago. I think that he has failed to make the adjustment and his heart is really not in it. You can still be an old school coach and succeed in this league now. Look at Marty out in San Diego. Look at what Jack Del Rio just did down in Jacksonville by de-activating a player for a DUI. Look at Parcells in Cowpuke land. And last but not least, look at what Belicheck and the Patriots have done in NE with a payroll that is probably half of ours.
There are so many things that can be said about this team and it's coaches that there is not enough room on this board. It's time for the blinders to come off about this team and get real and tell the truth.....

I'm really curious about your proposed solution. Since the end of Gibbs first stint we have barely been to the playoffs. Snyder keeps going for the biggest name guy available and paying what it takes. Every time we switch coaches we change philosophies and purge the team to get new guys who play the new philosophy.
Gibbs came back and got a bad team. Second year he goes to the second round of the playoffs. This year behind a horrible QB and with key injuries we are bad. And bad we are this year, no dispute there.
But you say can him. OK, now we sign another coach, get another philosophy and purge the roster again. To me that seems inevitible to lead to another losing cycle, and you would I am sure can that coach before they can turn it around.
So, what is your EXACT proposal other than firing Gibbs? How are you going to end our endless head coach changing losing cycle when you are ready to fire the second winningist percentage active coach, who's in the hall of fame, who has won all 3 of our Superbowls after only 2 1/2 years with one of those having ended a long playoff drought?

I think this team actually needs someone firery to get in some peoples asses when they make mistakes. I have confidence in Greg Williams and I will say yes, I hope he is the coach when Gibbs leaves.

My solution? Simple, convince Dan Snyder to sell me the Redskins.
Actually my solution and yours does not count for anything. I am serious about Joe Gibbs though. It is painful to watch him stand on the sidelines and listen to his acknowledgements of failure. He deserves better. He put himself into this situation because he felt that he could take the team back to their place as a powerhouse team in the NFL. He deserves credit for that. But he does not seem to know what to do to fix it. I truely wish he could.
As for a new coach and a new system? New Orleans seems to be doing just fine with a new coach and a new system. San Diego and Arizona are not doing fine with an old coach and an old system. Face it, the era of Gibbs, Parcells, Green, Shottenheimer, Brunell, Warner, Culpepper is gone.
