I'm sure he'll do just as well as a Congressman as he did as a QB. Maybe he can share an office with Conyers.

What year was he a Redskins qb? Just think if he was the real deal...right now he'd be ending a hall of fame career, all his time with the Skins, 4 or 5 Super Bowls rings in his possesion. So close...and yet so far away.

Let's say relatively close, I mean closer than you and I right. A highly touted #1 pick...oh what could have been.

I don't know, between us we might be able to manage throwing twice as many INTs as touchdowns ... OK, this is depressing me, I am going to stop here

Well at lease he's popular a #1 pick in the NFL and winning a popular vote for an important position first time out. I just hope, for North Carolina's sake, that he fares better as a senator than he did as a starting QB.

I used to own a Shuler #5 Redskins jersey. Yup. The only other Redskins jersey I owned was a #82. Westbrook. Yup.

As you might guess, I don't buy Redskins jerseys any more.

I have a box of phone calling cards with his picture on it.
The long distance wasn't good on those, either. :)
I went after his rookies so hard, because I was sure he was the real deal.
Wound up seeing Gussie play a lot more.

Awww what's the matter? Feeling a little gloomy waiting for George Allen's concession speech today? :)

Hey Riggo - for partisan reasons I too hope he fares about as well as he did as QB. But on the flip side I hope for NC's sake that he does a good job these next two years. I really do.

Why blame a guy for not being good enough to play in the NFL? Blame the guys who thought he could.

Naw, just a little concerned that Alcee Hastings, a disgraced federal judge impeached by the US House of Representatives 486-0 for taking bribess, will now be the top Congressman in charge of national intelligence. But hey, why should I worry - he's a Democrat, so it's all good, right?

I think it was a shame that Shuler did not make it as a Redskins QB. He grew up a Redskins fan, back before the Carolina <Cougars? Panthers? Tigers? whatever they call themselves> poached into the Redskins' traditional territory of North Carolina.

It would have been great to see a home-kid star with the team.

Sad, but, so it went.

Lots of kids finish college each year having played QB. Many are thought to have potential. Think Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch (Crouch??), on back to Gary Beban, back farther to George Mira, Ralph Guglielmi, and Jack Scarbath. Very few people can play QB in the NFL.

That's life. That's the NFL. I have no grudge against Shuler. Gus Bus, Mr. Cement Head, was no all time great, either.
