Salary Cap question

Hypothetically, let's say the Redskins want to sign some players, but they would go over the cap. Could the organization pay them less, but Snyder give them "endorsement" deals through Six Flags to make up for this, such as appearing in commercials. Or is there a rule against an owner paying players through another entity he owns.

At best, that would be unethical. I don't know if there is a specific rule against it, but I certainly don't think his business partners would appreciate it.

There is. It is called fraud. It is a criminal offense.
Can anybody imagine the Danny in a cramped jail sharing a cell with Bubba?

Uh, that's not a crime. The NFL might find it to be a violation of thier salary cap, and fine Danny some picks or something, but he certainly can't be charged with a crime!

Paying a player in endorsements to get around the cap would come back to BITE all involved somewhere around April 15th.

I agree, this is not a criminal offense, it would be a NFL cap violation. I'm pretty sure Danny has thought about it...he's probably already checking out the free agents for 08!
