9 In A Row Or We Won't Go

Okay, the Redskins are 2-5. I suppose that means the teams needs to start having a "9 in a row or we won't go" attitude, right?

Not necessarily.

I love this team, I really do; however, I am now officially conceding the fact that there is very little chance this team will make the playoffs this season. Note: I'm not saying we "won't" make the playoffs, just that I really don't "expect" them to.

Does that mean I expect this team will give up? Absolutely not! In every game, this team is playing to the end. Their players have a lot of heart and I am sure they will battle week in and week out.

Does that mean we, as fans, should give up? Absolutely not! Now more than ever this team needs all of us to go out to each game and yell at the top of our collective lungs to support them - win or lose.

Time for a drastic change?

Not necessarily.

The only change I am hoping for right now (and likely will not get) is a change at QB.

The Redskins are at their bye week. They have two weeks to prepare for the Cowboys. Two weeks to put the "kid" (Jason Campbell) into the game plan and formulate a game plan for him.

It can be done. You've seen it in Arizona. It can be done.

Can the Skins win 9 in a row?

Don't hold your breath.

Can the Skins start preparing for the future now?

Absolutely.

I posted a poll asking almost the same question on the main site

(8-1 to finish 10-6 might get them into the post-season)

9 in a row would be tough for any team.

How about 8 out of 9 and we'll be fine.:)

This team is a disaster - worse than the 2000 debacle in my opinion - They had Norv Turner as coach - this team has Joe Gibbs and 50 other guys.
Yesterday was a complete disaster -kicking off from the 5 yard line? What kind of team does that undisciplined crap?

8-1? That means at least 4 in a row. You're expecting a team which hasn't put together two halves of decent football but once this year (talking about Jax; Houston doesn't count) to put together 4 good games in a row, against the dangerous teams we're facing?!? It will NOT happen. At this point, we're in the offseason.

Call me negative but I just don't see that happening. We have too many tough games the remainder of this year.

We are not going to make the playoffs. However, I know it is still a possibility to do so. That being the case I want to try out Campbell and if we lose who cares. Either we will find out he is our future or we will get a high draft pick. Win/Win

Three changes during the bye which I'm sure none of them will be made. It's time for Campbell to go in and see what he can do. It's clearly not all Brunell's fault but what are you saying by keeping brunell in? We are going with him next year also?? If not get Campbell in there and see what he is all about, you are the ones that trade two picks to get him. Time for Rocky to start for Holdman. Holdman has just been atrocious these past few games taking bad angles in coverage and missing tackles as well. Time to let another high draft pick see what he can do. Derrick Frost has got to go after that display against the Colts. I don't care who they bring in here but he has to go. Gibbs has got to gain back some control of this team which is coming apart quickly and you can't have crap like what frost pulled. Not like he is a pro bowl punter anyway.

We are just playing horrendous as a team this year. Someone seriously tell me this (and I can't remember when this was ever this bad) Who is going to the pro bowl for us this year??? Someone name one player who is standing out with this team? All this individual talent but terrible as a team. I agree with one other poster who said this looks a lot like 2000.

I'm sure none of these changes will be made or any on offense or defensive schemes as well because we are only "2" games out of our division. Brunell will be our starter against Dallas and we will throw 3 and 4 yard screens and check downs. Our defense will continue not to cover and tackle and we will see the same results (losses) until things are changed. It couldnt be any more obvious that changes need to be made I just hope they see it.

we could have dan marino in at quarterback but it woldn't make a difference with the way the defense is playing

Not true - the Jets defense is 30th (several places below ours) and they're 4-3. A runaway offense forces opposing offenses to keep up, putting pressure on them, especially pressure to pass. A team can go awfully far with a good offense and a weak defense. Sure, it's better to be good on both sides of the ball, but right now, we don't have either.

Look at the NFC East Standings. After tonight's game we will only be 2 and a half games behind the division leader with the other two teams with 3 losses. I know it's a long shot, but we can still win the division. Maybe 9-7 will win the NFC East this year. We can run the table in our division (with only one road game left). That will get us to 6 wins. And we beat Tampa Bay, St. Louis, and New Orleans, and/or Carolina/Atlanta.

I know this is wishful thinking but I am not ready to give up on the season, yet.

I agree. Our prospects might look a lot better in 4 weeks. We could also be done with the season by then, but I'd rather think that the Skins still have a shot.

Well, beating Dallas at home would be a huge, huge boost to the team. If they pull that off, I could see some sort of playoff run as possible.

To quote Jim Mora..."PLAYOFFS?!?!" We'll be lucky to win more than 3 or 4 games the rest of the way. Time to build for next season.

heck right now i'll settle for a well played game that shows we have hope the way we are playing right now i can't see how anyone can sit here and say that we can still make the playoffs :?
we can't continue this downward spiral year after year can we ( yes we were 10-6 LAST YEAR !!! )
i'm just sick of the game play and i understood going into this year with the new offense that we would be an on and off team all year long ..... but not this on and off ](*,)
as yes i still have "hope" we can put something together but this team playing the way we are right now there is no freakin' way we even smell a hint of the playoffs.

2-5 :lowblow: :explode: :-& :hmm:

I think a problem with this team is they continue to believe that they can get together and win like last year. I believe that all that heart is gone from last years streak of wins. I you watch some of the players post game and locker room interviews they all talk about last year.

The positive side is that we are a shoo in for a top draft pick next season.
The thing to do, then, obviously. is try Campbell now to see if he's the future; if he's not, we can draft at top QB with our first pick. What picks do we have left?

Don't forget to give credit to the team that just kicked our ass.
