So, now that the off-season is here...

...after this crushing, heart-breaking, season-ending loss...
A few random thoughts:
I was among those who believed that the hiring of Al Saunders was a good idea. I hereby publicly retract that statement. He's trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and it's just not working out. The personnel he's got here isn't sexy or talented enough to do what he did in Kansas City. So can we go back to Joe Gibbs' old block and tackle, plain vanilla offense...please? I know it was boring, but it seemed to work last season.
I've completely had it with Mark Brunell. I can't add anything to what's already been said, except that I'm sick of him worrying more about whose hand he's going to hold during the post-game prayer than he is about winning. I dunno if Campbell is the answer, but he sure as hell couldn't be much worse.
The inability of this team to deliver in clutch situations is tiresome, and I'm talking about ALL of them. And the lack of killer instinct is a team-wide problem, too. There's very little leadership, and there doesn't seem to be much accountability, either. And they aren't confident that when it really, reeeeeeeeeally matters that they can get it done, and that kind of attitude is contagious. You can see it in their eyes and their body language, and the other team sees that and smells blood and then it's all over.
Looking at the schedule, they'll be lucky to win a total of five games.
So...Good season, guys. But not really.

Don't tell me the offseason is here. That just means that Snyder is going to go buy all the "top" free agents and waste any draft picks we have left. I'm not ready for that.

Send in the clowns.
Wow.
What a lame effort.
Guess Greg Williams won't be this years hottest coaching candidate.
Or Saunders. Or Gibbs for that matter.
What do they do now? Waste more time on Brunell and keep trying to make horrid off season defensive moves seem worthwhile?
I'm glad I'm only watching on TV and not driving to the games and shelling out parking, concessions, and ticket money.
But on the upside, they could go 10-0 the rest of the way. Could happen.

I think Saunders is a good OC, but he is not a great fit.
Considering that:
-His offensive system takes a couple years on average to fully integrate.
-He is too ambitious to be on a coaching staff with Gregg Williams who's team this will eventually be.
-He is too proud to adapt his gameplan to the players he has been given, or adjust it in such a way that it can be learned more quickly.
IMO you dislike him as an OC for all the wrong reasons, these players are MUCH "sexier" than the ones he had in KC.
This team looks completely dead right now, Mark does not seem to be much of a leader, we don't have a cohesive unit, we're just struggling.
At least we'll get a nice pick in the draft.

According to popular rumour we owe our 1st round pick to Denver in the TJ 3-way trade. So.....

I think that deal works like this: If our 1st rounder is higher than Denver's (which is suddenly looking likely), we have to swap them for theirs.
Which we will then trade an assistant athletic trainer and two sets of shoulder pads.

This team is freaking hopeless... someone move this thread to smack so I can really get mad.
What a bunch of morons!
Is that even a legal trade stipulation? Why on God's green earth would anyone agree to this? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
We trade for Duckett, give up the farm for him and don't even play the (explitive deleted) guy?
Well, we're officially a joke again, thanks powers that be.

I asked in the other thread, but I'm asking again:
Doesn't Gibbs have the final say over all personnel moves? He is President of Football Operations, after all. Doesn't that mean he's behind all these crazy personnel moves, or at least involved in the process?

And don't forget Campbell - we gave up three picks for him, and we don't play him either!

I am ready. I am ready for Jason Campbell. I have been the last to say throw him in there, but now, we have to. Not this week, that would be an unfair. In three weeks we play Dallas at home off a bye. If we lose to Indianapolis that should be Jason Campbell's first career start and hopefully his first of many wins over Dallas.

How would that be unfair? It's not like the Colts have a Raven-like D...
Throw him in there and see what he can do. I honestly think we're going to lose it with Brunella anyway. Granted, I thought the same about J'ville, so I could be wrong again.
I would still put him in there, get some game experience, then maybe we'd know what he would need to work on during the bye week.
Also, you are not the last one to want to pull Brunella....we're still waiting for Redeemed to show up. After all, he is "Brunell's #1 fan."

Brunell could be playing with a broken leg and Redeemed would still argue that he gives us the best chance to win.

Redeemed isn't the only one. I've been calling for Campbell since training camp, and he had plenty of defenders back then. Slowly, they see the light.

Brunella does NOT have a broken leg? What are we waiting for? Someone call Tonya Harding....I hear she has connections...
You are right though 'Canes....he would say Brunell does give us the best chance to win, no matter the circumstances.

I've actually been calling for his head since he was signed. When we had Ramsey, I wanted him in there. Now our only real option is Campbell, so he's my choice now.

Me too. I never understood why we picked him up anyway when we had Ramsey and now Cambell.

It's like how Gibbs likes to collect running backs - how many carries has Duckett had? No depth at D-line or in the secondary, but we've a bunch of decent QBs and RBs!

that would be typical brunell to go out and light it up agains the colts next week after 2 straight horrific performances, and give gibbs an excuse to leave him in another month. but at this point we all ought to know better than to buy into any success he has... he has 1 good game for every 2 or 3 horrible games- just enough to hold onto the job and waste everyone's time.
i don't care if he throws for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns next week, it won't last. he needs to go.

redeemed and gibbs are the last 2 people left on earth that actually think brunell can be a winner. it's because they both think Jesus is magic and if they have faith, he will swoop down from heaven to guide brunell's passes safely into santana moss's hands.

You forgot Brunell's wife and kids. Although, one can never assume.....
'Honey, you were awful out there today. They should bench you.'
