They're currently ranked 4th in total offense after 5 games, having finished 29th last year! They may not finish that high by the end of the season, but still, what a leap from last year. Even more impressive, from what I can tell reviewing their starting line-up, is that it's with the same personnel; the only 'change' is that Rex Grossman is finally healthy, and has started all 5 games. Playing that well, and in that division, they're practically a lock for the playoffs this year.

Let's face it folks, the Bears are THEE TEAM to beat this year. Offense is clicking. Defense is clicking. Their schedule is weak as hell. Don't look now, but those undefeated Miami Dolphins better be sweatin' bullets right about now. I, for one, wouldn't be surprised one bit to see this Bears team go undefeated.

Quite possible. I see only the Giants and the Pats as possible winners against them. Minn. played them tough, so they may get lucky next time. Otherwise, they could run the table. Of course, given Grossman's bad luck, if he survives the season, Lovie may sit him for the last few games, once the playoffs and home field are locked.

Same players, new (not really 'new', but then again, barely used) QB, huge leap in production . . . makes one wonder . . .

I've followed the Bears closely the past few years and this year they are healthy, which is the biggest difference along with a couple of additions like both Mannings, Hester, and Mark Anderson.

They're offense is finally clicking and they can now pass the ball. I'm glad we don't play them.

biggest thing to piss me off is that my brother snatched up Grossman after Week 2 in our fantasy league. Mere minutes before I logged in to do the exact same thing.

Bears are definitely the team to beat but Grossman is going to lose them a couple of games eventually, just remains to be seen whether his timing is fortunate ... their D is nnnnnnnnnnnnnasty

They would have to stay healhty all season, unfort i dont see that happening. Its chicago, no matter the team its inevitable something will occur.

The D has been banged up a lot already this season with little drop-off in quality. Personally, I don't see us going undefeated but after last night....jeebus!!

Perhaps a more telling pick-up was Ricky Manning, Jr. I am sure the Bears picked him up around the same time as Kenny Wright went to the Skins. Who would you rather have? The Skins also picked up Rumph who I remember being burned by the Bears when he was a 49er last year - no idea what the Skins saw in him. It's been a bit of a downer to see some of the personnel decisons being made by the Skins lately. Does Gibbs have final say in that?

Truth is I am originally from Scotland so never had anything "local" to follow - but I liked the smashmouth style of the Bears and Skins back in the mid-80s though and "adopted" them as my teams. Quite coincidentally, 20 years later I find myself married to an American gal and now the Bears really ARE my local team - I will always have love for the Skins though.
