Brunell Hurt ?

Just saw Channel 4 news (George Michael) and he said Brunell had to go to the hospital for a deep cut on his throwing elbow. Had to get 5 stitches. Anyway...they are worried about a staph infection - said the last time that happened to him he was out for the entire season so they are watching him closely.
I don't see it on thier site yet so I can't post a link.

I think they are just watching him closely so that it doesn't develop into something real bad.

I hope that Brunell will be ok. I myself had some concerns with him. I do though, still think he has what it takes to get the job done!
Go Skins.

Yeah, but all joking aside - they need to but Jason in...

I wonder how many passes he completed after sustaining the gash. Apparently its more of a gash than a cut. You don't get five stiches on a cut.

Oh wow.....Football players that have a cut just can't play for atleast 4 weeks.

He will not miss anytime because of it.

Coach Joe Gibbs said the cut was "not a big deal, ..."
Hognosticators beware ...

Its not just that. Deep cuts like this in football games often result in bacterial infections that can keep you out for long periods of time. The concern is not so much the gash, but it getting infected which can even end a career (Brandon Noble and a host of other players)
Now he has a wrap all the way down to his thumb on his throwing hand, and we have a huge game coming up that he may not be able to practice for. More than just a cut...although I hope it doesn't pose any problems.

Dont you guys get it the cut is from where the team doctors inserted the bionic implant... Hes fine and now his arm will last till the end of the season or at least until the next free tune up!!

As much as I don't think Brunell can get the job done, I don't want Campbell to face J'ville out of the gate. We wissed our window of opportunity, IMO.
Let's hope Brunell can get it together and play WELL.

I agree - we should have had JC start verse the Texans not Jax. I still think if all we do is dink passes and hand off the ball why not use JC for that instead of Brunell. I just don't get it.

Hey, If Mark sustained the injury during the Texans game then maybe Bubba Tyer should delibratly cut Marks elbow before each game. Something was working. And as far as all the Jason Campbell talk, I still say listen to the man who makes the descisions, Joe Gibbs. When it comes time for Jason to start, he will be ready.

according to the Post this morning, Brunell couldn't practice yesterday, so Todd Collins took all the reps... Gibbs said that was because they were practicing as if Brunell were going to play Saturday... that makes no sense to me... If he were really sticking to his plan for backup QB, Todd Collins would prepare the same way he does every week, and JC would step in and take the reps for Brunell... If the pain is still so bad Sunday that Brunall can't go, then JC would have had his week of practice and Collins would be prepared as the in-game back-up as always...
This really doesn't look good for JC... maybe it doesn't hurt his confidence, but it sure doesn't help it...
I just think they've shyed away from every opportunity they've had to throw this kid a bone... I can only summize that either he needs a lot more work, or he's not as good as they were saying when they used those draft picks to go out of their way and get him...

If JC is as ready for the pros as you deem him to be, he will be professional about it and understand the situation.
Joe has not "yanked" Mark in favor of Collins, and JC has not been slighted in favor of the journeyman. Mark will be ready to play on Sunday, so there's no need to go to plan B just yet.
I think it's great that Collins is getting the snaps with the first team. He's the primary backup right now, and he most definitely needs the snaps.
Relax, JC will see the field in due time. Unless you had the under on how many games it would take to see JC play this year, there's no reason to believe that his progress is being stunted or that his confidence is now shattered. JC is a stud, and whther he performs now, later in the season, or next season, he will still be a stud, and will play like one.

Frankly, if Brunell can't go against Jacksonville, Collins should be the guy to get the start. Campbell is going to have a tough enough time in his first start as it is, we might as well wait for a game where he can have a full week of practice.
This game is huge. The difference between being 1-3 with a win over a creampuff and 2-2 with a win over a legit AFC team is gigantic, especially since two of our next three games include the Giants and Colts, both on the road. You hate to say make or break this early in the season, but if we fall to 1-3, the Eagles move to 3-1 (they play Green Bay) and Dallas moves to 2-1 (they play Tennessee), we are going to be in a deep, deep hole.
There will be a time to start Campbell, and in my opinion, it could come as soon as Week 6. But right now, we need to give ourselves the best possible chance of winning in Week 4.

Every week is a huge game this year!

Hopefully by the bye we are 4-3 but 3-4 is also not too shabby.
I think that if things are not "OK" with Brunell after the Indy game, then we might see Campbell against the pukes.

nice try, but I'm not calling Gibbs a liar at all... I'm saying that it's a shame that Collins hasn't impressed the staff enough to take this opportunity to give him some reps in practice... IMO he needs the reps more so than Collins when opportunities like this arise... and it may have helped with his confidence...
