I liked the line about not being prominently featured in Madden '08.

I think Brunell is very similar to Rypien. Other than the Super Bowl year, Rypien never looked very good either - 1 good year is a fluke. I suspect Joe Gibbs sees a lot of Rypien in Brunell. Personally I would love to see an alternative but as the article mentioned we don't really have 1. It was interesting to sompare Brad Johnson to Brunell - Opie pretty much smoked Brunell in that game. Although Johnson was knocked around quite a bit he still made plays while Brunell threw the ball away every time they blitzed. It doesn't help that the offensive line play has not been good either but that's another story.

Ryp had one of the best deep balls in the game. I don't think we can say that about Grandma.

Uhh... No, that game was a result of poor coverage on the part of the Cowboys. They were just lucky throws. Brunnel makes Bledsoe look like Marino when it comes to quality of throws.

Oh come on. OK, Brunell is not a good deep passer, but if you're going to call every successful deep pass a "lucky throw", then all fairness has gone out the window.

i didnt say that at all
The veteren aspect of brunell is the similarity to ryp and as to his arm, its ok is my point
the real issue is his pocket presence... he walks into sacks and thinks hes getting pressured just tossing the ball up there. but when we are on a solid drive and he settles down mentally he can rocket the ball out there. having confidence in his abilities is different than thinking he is elite or has a great cannon.
bottom line, his deep ball isnt
that bad
