"Call My Number"

We want to CP but half the time it's on silent. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHEN WE WILL GET CLINTON PORTIS BACK?!? By back I mean the man who led us down the stretch last season and physically took the ball and the game out of boonell's hands. 39 YDS is not having CP back. I know he's fine with a td and not having to practice, i'll bet it makes him feel appreciated when he doesn't have to play in the pre-season, sweat out two-a-days or practice during the week and he can just stroll out and get a td, good game for him right? Wrong, we gave away one of our best all time redskins in Champ (wouldn't mind having champ sun night) in order to get the great redskin we had last year. Give me CP Back Bubba ASAP.

our best all time Redskins?

ROTFALMAO

Champ Bailey?

ROTFALMAO

Ok, ok, ok... let me try and stop laughing long enough to comment... one of the best Redskins all time...

Wait I need to laugh again.... ROTFALMAO

ok,ok,ok... sorry... I'll bite... what on earth makes Champ Bailey one of the best Redskins ever?

I'll guess that you're not very old and maybe don't have the backdrop of truly great Redskins to compare to. I'm not banging on Bailey either... he's a good cornerback... but that's about it. He doesn't even belong in the same sentence as guys like Joe Jacoby, Sammy Baugh, Sonny J, Joey T, Monte Coleman, Darrell Green, Russ Grimm, Art Monk, Gary Clark, John Riggins... actually, I'm going to stop before I list 80-100 players.

i think anyone over the age of 20 knows to put Champ in his relative placement in the organization's history... which is nowhere near the top.

As for CP... what are you trying to imply? That he dogs it? Just clarify something for me... did you take all of last year off or something? I'm just wondering if maybe you never saw the guy play... because otherwise... how you come away with any one word description other than WARRIOR, I don't know.

But now you're all over the guy because he has a shoulder injury and is being brought back carefully?

ROTFALMAO

Awesome.

Yeah... let's throw him in there full boar and live with the consequences. If he gets dinged again and has to sit for the whole season... at least Gibbs4Life will know that Clinton is really trying.

Got any other good advice for us? We're all waiting with bated breath.

For the record... Clinton attended EVERY two-a-day the Redskins had... they were done before he got hurt... and for the record... most of us are probably pretty happy to NOT see the coaching staff do something stupid like rush CP back. Surely there's some validity to what you're saying... but I just can't seem to find it myself.

My 2 cents

Champ played it cool when he was a Skin, got his education from the master, D. Green. But I thought it was a beneficial trade for both sides. CP is only going to do what the coaches say. It isn't always what you do with the ball that counts (i.e. Block, draw coverage, slip into a pattern) We will be fine with CP. And when S. Springs gets back, healthy, we will be fine there too.

They both have huge talent and there are a lot of ways to slice the deal, but I like it because Portis has been a far more loyal Skin then Champ.

How can you even think Clinton Portis "dogs it" when he got hurt in a preseason game running his butt downfield to try and make a tackle...an aggresive one at that. If he was "dogging it" he would have just let the dude score a TD.

Bailey "could" have been one of the best Skins ever, but he could never get it all together.

Maybe it was because he played on some bad defenses that never got a good pass rush or whatever, but last year Champ picked off 8 passes, forced a fumble, scored two defensive touchdowns, and made 66 tackles in 14 games.

He never did anything like that in Washington...

But yeah, what could have been (but wasn't) with Champ.

CP does not dog it, but answer me this...the way he played monday night what would have been the difference if he went the whole game? The difference would have been a win. Instead we get limited Portis, alot of Ladell "you can betts I won't break one" and lost out on the pass blocking side of CP's game. I'm not saying he's "doggin" it, he just is either ready to go or not ...screw this couple plays bullcrap. Thats like having a pitcher go in and just throw 2 innings, its stupid.

As for Champ Bailey, your laughing at the guy shows your low football I.Q. after Darrell Green and Deion he is probably the best corner we've ever had and maybe that the NFL has had. He's a multi pro bowler, how many pro bowls does Portis have? So laugh all you want it doesn't change the facts. I think we got a good deal because Clinton is special but Champ is too so they should cancel each other out...but wait didn't we give a couple picks along w/Bailey, thats right.

You see Portis on NFL Network doing his I'm a star thing, and I'm fine with that, what I care more about is his I'm a 2000 yd back thing. And if as you say we are bringing him along slowly then my question is how much longer, how much more of ladell place your Betts do we have to endure. I hope not much.

I'll bet this week we get a full-load out of Portis and Shawn Springs plays the whole game. Only because that's the only way we win.

CP has been according to Gibbs "downgraded accordingly" for not practicing, Joe said if a guy doesn't practice he won't play and he also said that Ladell TJ and Rock will be "our group there"

Ok now this is serious, I don't think everyone understands the magnitude of this game. THIS GAME COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PLAYOFFS AND NO PLAYOFFS. And its in the division and its dallas so...

His shoulder is quote "soar", give me a break players have played entire games with a broken arm, Jon Jansen with two broken thumbs, Darrel Green a broken rib...CP is I'm sorry to say. . . BEING A PREMADONNA at the worst time possible, he doesn't want to practice thats what this boils down to and we COULD LOSE THE EAST and playoffs because of it.

Maybe it's because he's a mercinary. He wants respect, not money. But measures respect in money.

Somehow I missed your witty retort, i didn't realize that you had so eloquently 'addressed' my post.

So it turns out that I was right and THAT IT WAS NOT EVEN PORTIS' DECISION TO SIT OUT PRACTICE... so all your bagging on him for being a prima donna was just premature ejaculation.

As for Champ Bailey... two things are clear... that maybe you are young and that you have a much different opinion of what a 'great Redskin' is.

Is Champ a good player? Sure. Did it do squat for the Washington Redskins in terms of success? Absolutely not. That isn't an indictment of Bailey... he was just part of a crap team in a crap era... hardly separates himself as a great Redskin though... good player who played for the Redskins? Definitely. Great Redskin? Not in my opinion. Not because of anything he did wrong... but because his time here was completely void of any worthwhile Redskin moments.

But hey, I have a 'low football IQ' (isn't that a personal attack, don't we have rules against that sort of thing?)... so bear with me here. My idea of a great Redskin is someone that either spent a career here, spent a giant amount of a career here, bled burgundy and gold here, and/or experienced some SUCCESS HERE.

Champ did none of those.

So while you're insulting me for my 'low IQ' maybe you could stop for two seconds and realize that we obviously just have two totally different ideas of what 'great Redskins' are.

You name a guy who had one dismal season here as a 'great Redskin'? To me that's a joke. Sure Deion was a great player who at one time played for the Redskins... so was Bruce Smith... doesn't make them great Redskins... not even close... well not by my definition.

Despite my limited intelligence, I think of guys like Pat Fischer long before I think of someone like Champ... because of what they brought to the franchise... not just the number of pro bowls they did or didn't win.

But I can't possibly match football intellect with someone that puts Deion and 'Redskins great' in the same sentence.

And Portis broke the all time rushing record for the skins, while leading us 1 game from the NFC Champ game.

Here is a question.

What does the Broncos 2005-2006 season have in common with the Redskins 2005-2006 season?

Neither won the Super Bowl.

I'll never understand why Broncos fans hate Portis (although I don't really think Redskins fans should hate Bailey either). The guy was making what, $500,000 a year or something? And everyone gets mad when he asks for a raise? I don't get it.
