Can They Beat The Cowgirls?

I'm worried about Sunday night's game against the Cowgirls. The skins defense doesn't seem ready to contend with the 'girls. They're going to need to get a good rush going. Rattle Bledsoe. Get him to throw to the Burgandy and Gold instead of to Glenn, Owens, and Witten. I'm not sure they're up to the task. And on the other side of the ball, can the offensive line make holes for Portis and crew against the really good front seven that the 'girls have? On top of that, at best it's going to be a close game, and John Hall doesn't give me confidence in his ability to hit an important kick to win the game. Man, someone out there give me some reasons to not dread the game on Sunday!

I am in no way comfortable going into Dallas this week. If we play similar to the way we did against the Vikings, we're going to get our behinds handed to us. Dallas is seriously a stronger team. Its tough as it is going into Dallas and beating them and to add to that....the way our D is playing, SSprings out, JHall as good as out, its going to be very tough.
But you never know, maybe two miracle passes to 89 will come up again. I guess one can be hopeful.

Time to re-introduce a heavy helping of Portis, and Coooooley. Open up those Mid-Long routes to Moss and LLoyd.

I am by no stretch of the imagination overly optimistic about Sunday. But the Cowboys lack the strength at the O-line the Vikings have. That will open up our pass rush, and force Bledsoe into mistakes that Brad Johnson was not forced into making. The offense sorely lacked Portis in there, and hopefully another week of rest will have him close to 100%. If he can penetrate the Dallas D for some big runs I think it will also open up the passing lanes for Brunell. If we can keep the Offense on the field and do a better job putting pressure on the QB we can win this game.

Are we going to rent a cannon to pass those mid-long routes? Maybe we'll employ the services of Randel-El for passes.

After last year's BOMBS that buried dallas, I expect they will respect the deep routes a little more and this should open up space for Portis,

ey, and ARE from the slot. I'm hoping ARE is the difference on punt returns....I have a feeling he is going to take at least one return for a TD.

A cannon couldn't hurt. But I think Brunell will be fine. And C.P. can throw too.

The team didn't appear at all ready for Dallas last year either, but pulled it together late in the game.

Last year the defense was playing well going into the Dallas game, but the offense was anemic. Right now both have problems.
Wouldn't it be sweet, though, to beat Dallas with a bomb at the buzzer again?

Here's who I am expecting to have a good game.
Carter- why Cowboys have no line
Griffin- see above
Lyod and Randel el- they r going to be focused soley on Moss

ey- Gibb and Saunders r going to say we need to get

ey more involved.
Jansan- I like him that is why I am picking him.

I have to be honest I don't see us winning this game. I just don't. It breaks my heart.
Our best chance would be to just run Santana deep at Roy a few times and see what happens.

I don't see us winning the game either. Wouldn't be surpised at all if we lost by 2 td's.

Joe Gibbs said it best, "this week we're going to be tested"
Does anyone question this teams heart? It's will to win? I think sometimes we do and sometimes it's warranted. There is no excuse for losing that opener but MNF is a wild kind of game and anything can happen, that was true for us monday night and it's going to be true this sunday night in the same type of atmosphere only this time we are the underdogs.
Can we make holes for Portis, maybe, if not I'm thinking a fresh T.J. Duckett can make some holes of his own. LOSE BETTS, when was the last time this guy broke a big one? We need to come prepared to play smash mouth, streetfight, war football and all of our guys need to have each others back. Historically when I've seen us get creamed in Dallas its when we don't play together and let the pressure get to us, like last year for all but about 4 min at the end, oh but what a sweet 4 mins that was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will win this game.

i think we actually have a better shot against dallas this week than we would against a lot of the other teams on our schedule, for one reason-- their o-line. we got TONS of pressure on them in our last game against them in '05. if we can get anything close to that, bledsoe will implode and we'll get some turnovers and win.
if we don't get any pressure, however, it seems likely that we'll be absolutely slaughtered. i think i will vomit my soul right out of my body if TO rips our "pass defense" apart for multiple TDs.

We'll be stomped. Brunell will continue to be QB who can't make use of
one of the league's best set of receivers. He'll dump the ball off or throw it out of bounds rather than downfield.

ey and Lloyd will coninue to be ignored. The OL will be porous but Portis might get some yards on his own. The Cowgirls will hurt us on the ground and kill us through the air. Cowboy's 35, Skins 13.

No! I can't take that again. I would like us to come out and dominate the entire game. I am tired of close games and that seems to be all the 'skins play.

I have to agree that this is the most likely scenario. And if we play the same way we did against the Vikes, I'd even doubt we'll get 13 points.
Brunell and Saunders absolutely have to open it up. We need more intermediate passes over the middle to

ey. And we need more attempts at the deep ball, regardless of whether it is successful, it beats the same old two yards up the middle. If we keep seeing linebackers and safeties in our backfield, it's gonig to be a long night.
If our offense doesn't mount some kind of consistency, our defense will be worn down again and we'll be watching 7 minute Cowbory drives throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters.
It's going to take a serious offensive resurgence to win this game.

Same drivel, different day. Quelle surprise! I know... I know... bring back Ramsey right? The guy playing 3rd string in New York...
This is soooo different from last year... when Brunell took us to the playoffs... if I remember correctly you had pathetic reasons like 'mystic forces' when you couldn't answer for good play from MB.

Wow, 2 TDs I don't know about that. Could this mean that there might be some disention in Hognostications? Someone NOT picking the Skins.

Yes they can absolutely beat the Cowboys. Would I bet the house on it? No friggin' way. But one game does not define a team or season. Those of you that doubt Brunells long ball have very short memories. He can and will launch them. Portis is one week stronger and the offense is one week smarter with Saunders offense. Yes, they have every chance to win the game.
That said, I would say the odds are against them and I admit I'm worried and will have the "Miracle Shot" locked and loaded. But I certainly haven't written them off. Just like I didn't last year in the middle of the night and was generously rewarded for my loyalty.
I'll guarantee you this, I'll watch to the the end.

I think we can, here's why:
1. Carter won't be going up against a left side that is worth almost $100 million dollars plus outweighs him by almost 100lbs. So, this week will be the litmus test to find out if Carter is as good as management thinks he is.
2. Dallas won't be able to effectively scheme for our offense because Sanders will have us doing something else this week or a different variation of what we did last week.
3. Lloyd and

ey will have big day's. I see us using

ey more this week to bail Brunell out and I also see us taking more shots down field with Lloyd. I don't think that Al Sanders is going to be cautious like Gibbs was last year and have this offense sputter.
4. Bledsoe will make mistakes because right now, his confidence is shaking because Parcells has said publicly that he is getting Romo ready to play.
5. This team is going to take it personal, what formers Skins like Doc Walker, B-Mitch, and Charles Mann have said this week about them and this team and have a chip on their shoulder's.....

The Skins don't need to worry about the Boys, they need to just worry about playing better and they'll be fine. It wasn't all bad last week, but certainly overall they beat themselves. Just punching those deep drives in the end zone would have put the game out of reach.

I should say that the reason why our OL looks bad is because other teams are playing us so tight. If we gave our OL a little room by opening up the passing game, they'll show their stuff. I'm really hoping to see this on Sunday.
I'm also hoping that GW blitzes Rumph and Wriight constantly. Even if they don't get there, it's better than watching them chasing TO, Witten, and Glenn into the endzone.

Here's how we win or at least start building for the future. Start JC and have him throwing up the middle and long from the get go. Spread the line. Run Portis and Sellers when the pass is established , not just Portis when both are in the backfield. Risk the interception, risk rushing the QB on D. We need extreme aggression on both O and D. Bench Holdman for
Rocky. Acquire a FG kicker who can hit from over forty yards; put Betts and Thrash in as kick returners and put Rock on the bench. We're going to need about 30 points to win, as well as sacks and turnovers. We're going to get about 10 to 17 from Brunell, so let's get JC in there and hope for a breakout game.
Don't forget about

ey and Lloyd. Try not to be outcoached in regard to game plan and utilization of available talent. Pray for Springs return and kick Roger's butt. We can't have a CB in there who let's himself get burned long at least twice in the same game, if not more. Figure out why we can't stop passes on third down, fast.
