I liked him a lot. In fact I liked the whole team. I thought they worked lots better together than in the first few preseason games.

I'm by no means a Kornheiser mark, but I thought he was pretty good. Maybe the reason he was downing everything is because 98% of what comes out of Theismann's mouth is garbage.
And you have to give him credit for (kind of) calling out Tirico for saying that Sellars has never had a career carry. Sellers has two career carries including a rushing touchdown that I'm sure some of us remember.

Thank God I watched with the sound off ,and listened to Sonny, Sam, and whatshisname. I knew better than to listen to Joe T. and Tony the K. It also meant I could draw my own conclusions about Hollywood and Mrs. sitting in Mr. Snyders' Suite

Yeah, Kornheisers football knowledge is pretty lame. They must view him as more of entertainment, like Dennis Miller, because even in PTI his opinions are usually based on obvious "barely scratching the surface" knowledge. Like if you asked a 3rd grader how they feel about T.O., that's the kind of perspective Kornheiser brings. Boring to listen to if you ask me. At least John Madden brought some real knowledge to go along with his goofy anecdotes.

I'm glad some one else feels this way too. He did not have one positive thing to say about the Skins last night. Even after the game on ESPN, he was totally bashing the Skins, Snyder, Gibbs and Saunders. It was nails on a chalk board for me too. I used to like him on PTI, but after last night, and some of the preseason games, he can go to hell. He is a true KORNHOLER!!!

I think Tony is doing a good job given the fact that he is not a football guy. They didn't put him in there to be a "football guy". They want his opinions and that's it. Yes, he has to have some football knowledge of course, but his opinion is what they want.
Rock on, T.K. Stack-Money......

John Madden's biggest weakness as an analyst is that he never conveys his opinion IMO. I want to hear "that was a horrible play call" from some one, any one. Surely there are horrible play calls during a typical game. While I don't think that Madden is asked to do have opinions, I am looking for a team of commentators that bring football knowledge AND opinion to the game. That creates the best dialog and is part of the reason why Monday night was so successful during the Cosell years. Although I think that Theismann is extremely stupid at times, he fulfills the football knowledge requirement. Tirico is a superb play-by-play man in my opinion. Lastly, they needed Kornheiser for opinion to spur dialog and make it a more exciting game to watch. I think that was the thought from ESPN.

I didn't say that he was funny. My post simply stated that he is there to spur dialog and make the game's commentary better.
