We need someone who can do kick offs, he'd be a waste of time.

He said that they had him kicking to the 5 all last season. I would love to have him back.

A young, better than average, and HEALTHY kicker, is not a waste of time.

Bringing him in for a look can only help. John Hall is all but washed up. Novak would be an excellent option.

id like to see groom or turk from the rams here, depending on who is released, they got to release one i hope, i like novak, but punting is more important at this point.

Exactly, Gibbs isnt going to bench Hall at this point. I dont see the point in bringing in a kicker.

Healthy J. Hall > Novak

Novak nailed a 50 yarder in AZ's last preseason game. This kid could end up being a good kicker for years to come. We know he's clutch, and as for kickoffs, I'd rather have someone kicking it to the 5 than missing a game winner or 3. All I'm saying is someone is gonna be happy they gave this kid a chance.

I want him and I don't have a problem with us carrying 2 kickers on our roster. It makes sense given Hall's history.

I was blasted last year for saying that John Hall was a bust. I still think he is, and I would love to have Novak on our team.

Its not unheard of though. Philly did it last year as well as Indy. If your kicker has kickoff issues, sometimes they have a guy who is accurate from long distances and kickoffs then you have your regular guy. I just heard about it over preseason. Will we do it? Probably not but probably not a bad idea.

I just don't see us doing it. Especially with us strarting the season with several injuries, we need those roster spots for players to fill in for them till they're 100%.

I was at that Denver game last year, and Novak hit a 40+ yarder in a driving sleet storm at the end of the half. (Unfortunately a phantom penalty negated the field goal and we ran out the clock w/out another attempt.....cost us the game ultimately!)

Anyway, from that point on I knew this kid was a big league kicker between the ears, and he hit everything when it mattered for us. John Hall is a worse kickoff guy than Novak and he is guaranteed to get hurt again. I totally agree that we should take a hard look at Novak replacing Hall. I'm not so sure that even healthy Hall is better than him.

BRING HIM BACK!!!

You do realize that Arizona has N. Rackers right? Did you watch Novak kick for us? He was money. And I swear to you, if you had been in that weather at the Denver game you'd be sold on his leg.

Good point on Rackers. Also, Hall has missed 14 games the past two seasons, and he's less than 50% beyond 50 anyway, so who cares if Novak hasn't kicked a 50 yarder. The stats show he hasn't been allowed to do so, either. Hall may be a better kicker, but if he's missing 40% of the games every season, how's he helping?

I can't say that I am a MD home. Matter of fact, I pull for NC State. If I had a choice we would wait a year and draft John Derany from State. He excells at kickoffs, kicked a 48 yarder last year and he also punts. Oh, and he's 6-4 225.

But I know that Hall's injuries is an annual event so I say why not sure up a roster spot with an area that we have injury experience at. And don't forget the guy is local and Gibbs loves that.

Matt Turk? Would he play for the 'Skins again? Is he going to hold for the place kicker?

The guy that used to hold for place kicks for us was Matt's brother who passed away after a struggle with cancer. Matt's brother botched a snap that cost us a key game way back that I prefer to forget.

That incident and the basketball injury were the beginning of the end for both brothers and the Skins together. He will not be back. Trust me.

Former Maryland and Redskins place kicker Nick Novak cleared waivers yesterday afternoon and flew to Green Bay for a tryout. The Redskins, he said, have not contacted him. He was waived Monday by Arizona.

I read this this morning.
