So, most of you probably know that this Saturdays game against the Patriots is going to be blacked out for those outside the market area. (Call your cable or satalite companies) but I found that it will be re-aired on NFL network on Sunday:
12 p.m. -- NFL Preseason Game HD
NFL Preseason: Washington Redskins vs. New England Patriots
Unfortunatly, as of today, those of use on the westcoast will not be able to see it live. I will keep checking in with the various networks stations to update everyone.
I think that they are not playing most of the games b/c NFL Network is going to reair them and the NFL owns the TV station so that means more $$$$$ for them. Even though we as fans bite the bullet on that one.

I think it's because most people on the west coast aren't really interested in the 'skins - Pats game. I'm sure the Raiders - Niners game was broadcast live on the local channels out there, just as they are broadcasting the Redskins - Pats game live out here.

frankcal20 - Does this mean the local Redskins bars in your area wouldn't be able to catch it either?
Make sure to tune into the radio feed on Redskins Radio.

Unless a preseason game is nationally televised, you can rarely get it outside the local area.

Just stay off the internet, don't answer the phone and don't watch any television until the replay airs. Then tape a piece of paper to the bottom of the screen so you can't see the scroller with all the scores at the bottom. Then it won't matter that it isn't live.

I think that like regular tv, NFL netowrk makes decisions based on location. For example, the Arizona game was played here at 5:00pm last Saturday rather than the Redskins. Logical since Leinart has a bigger following on the west coast than the Redskins. That is Ok, the Redskins game was on Sunday.

But NFL Network shows the same thing nationwide. They played that game because it was Leinerts first game. Just like they played the Saints the week before.

I've been a DirecTV subscriber with the regional sports package for the last 10 years or so. I've been dealing with blackouts of Redskins games for several years now, and have called DirecTV many times about it. And the blackouts have existed well before NFL Network was even around. So, after many phone calls and letters, what I have learned is that the problem is NOT caused by DirecTV or the NFL Network, but by Comcast. It is Comcast who owns the rights, and they are not willing to allow DirecTV to telecast the game as part of DirecTV's regional package. I'm sure DirecTV would be more than glad to telecast the game, but have no right to do so. Just thought people should know that they need to blame Comcast, not DirecTV or the NFL Network.

So Bottom Line, I can see the game in its entirety on Sunday, one day after I see Gibbs fume at his press conference about how we have "a long way to go"

I have a lot of hard personal experience in this area. Don't bother asking over the phone. They'll tell you they have it, and they won't after you schlep all the way down there.
