Dwayne Goodrich - two counts of manslaughter
Michael Irvin - arrested with a piece of crack the size of a golfball once, just how many times did he get caught with coke?
Nate Newton - arrested with 213lbs of weed after being caught with 175 lbs of weed... and within two months of each other... that's 388lbs of mellow cowboy
Barry Switzer - possession of a .38 in an airport
Leon Lett - numerous drug charges
Erik Williams - sexual assault of a 17 year old
Harvey Martin - sexual assault, coke... hell, he even made Landry look bad when Landry justified it by saying:"Somebody can use coke and it's like beer to some extent. We're talking about recreational coke. That's a big difference with chemical dependency."
Rafael Septien - sexual assault of a 10 year old girl
Lance Rentzen - sexual assault of a 10 year old girl
Bob Hayes - selling drugs to an undercover cop
Laary Bethea - assault, theft, and then he shot himself with the .38 that he held up 2 variety stores with that same day
Mark Tuinei - died from an overdose of a heroin/ecstasy mixture
Thomas henderson - arrested and charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment after exchanging crack for sex with two minors, one of whom was wheelchair-bound

Didn't they get rid of the "starting" QB two years ago before binging in Testaverde? Wasn't that on a coke charge?

Yeah something happened with Quincy Carter. I don't remember what it was though.

Those fans have a new hero in Bill Parcells.

He is their hero because he made a stand on drugs with Wednesday's release of Quincy Carter. He made a stand by cutting his starting quarterback, the man who unexpectedly led his team into the playoffs last season. He cut him a few days into training camp, severely disrupting his offensive plans and a good chunk of his playbook. But he did it because he had told his players what he expected from them and Carter did not meet those standards.

Without Carter, the Cowboys are left with Vinny Testaverde, raw rookie Drew Henson and unproven second-year man Tony Romo at quarterback. With this decision, Parcells might have eliminated this team from playoff contention. It is a move that probably no other franchise in the league would make, considering the damage it does to the team's short-term prospects.

But to Parcells, this was a test of his integrity. If he establishes expectations for behavior and reliability, and then passes on releasing Carter, he is not only betraying himself but also the loyalty of his players. This was all about credibility. Carter was the test case and Parcells proved to be a man of his word.

This reportedly is the second time Carter has failed a drug test. That brings into question his dependability and trustworthiness. How can you rely on a quarterback who might later have a third failure, which could lead to a league suspension? This was a shaky and dangerous path for the Cowboys to follow and Parcells declined the temptation.

In the 1970 and 1971 seasons the Dallas Cowboys fielded Duane Thomas as the fullback behind Walt Garrison. Thomas was fast, smart, could hit and if his rookie season was any indication, he was headed for a long and fruitful NFL career and the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately Thomas was a casual drug user and had an attitude bigger than Dallas. His attitude was so bad that Dallas tried to trade him after the 1970 season; but no one would take him. After the 71 season Thomas' drug use came to light and Landry announced that he would not field such a person in the 72 season. During the next two seasons Thomas was bounced to San Diego and then Washington. Unwilling to put up with his attitude and drugs any longer, Washington cut Thomas after two seasons. With no other team willing to pick him up, such ended the career of a back with the potential of a Tony Dorsett and maybe even a Walter Payton or Emmit Smith.

So drugs can make you moody - or in his case, REALLY MOODY - what a waste. I remember the game he went after people in the stands after that threw or yelled stuff at him.
