Whats up fellas. My uncle is a huge cowboys fan and i was talking to him about the portis injury and hes convinced its a fake. Hes saying Gibbs is doin it keep more things hidden and get portis rested up. now im not sure if this makes any sense but could Gibbs be trying to pull the wool over the eyes of NFL. Lemme know what u think.

Gotta say that thought has crossed my mind. Perhaps they are setting Portis up to have a 200 yd rushing game on the 11th.

It crossed mine as well. Eventhough he was trying to express frustration, he seemed to be holding back laughter to me. I hope its a joke...or at least not as bad as everyone is making out to be.

This is so funny. I thought about this too but was to much of a wimp to post it. It think it may just be wishful thinking. I really don't think Gibbs would have asked people to pray for Portis if it wasn't real.

At least now we know who the conspiracy theorists on the board are.
It looked legit to me, but hey wax poetic about it all you like.
He'll be ready when he's ready... and clinton always seems to be ready on game day so unless Betts is blowing the doors off in the preseason, that'll likely be Sept 11th for CP.
I wouldn't actually even expect Betts to get that much work in the preseason as he's coming back from that hammy injury. I think Jesse's going to get a lion's share of the carries against the Jets and this will be a real opportunity for him to show that he belongs on this team.
I think with CP's shoulder injury, Ladell Betts hamstring injury, and Rock Cartwright's lack lustre outing against the Bengals... the door is wide open for Jesse to make a big point... but I'm going to do an article on it tomorrow, so I won't post all of my thoughts here and now.

I think that would have involved some of the team to pull that off. But who knows just hope he gets well!

Yeah I can't wait to see Jesse play I've been hearing alot about him. Looking forward to see if our backups can produce some results during the next couple preseason games.

I keep reminding myself that he has 4 weeks to get better. That is a very long time. I mean if it was the regular season we could be talking 4-5 games. In a way, I think it will put doubt in the media and the casual skins' fans mind of what this team can accomplish. And we all know what they do with their backs to the wall.

I don't think he faked the injury, but I do think they are making it out to be much worse than it is. I haven't heard any reports on his MRI showing any soft tissue damage. I think he'll be 100% by opening day.

Just for the fun of it, I'll feed this beast.
Portis legitimately injured his shoulder when he made that tackle. From the replays, you could clearly see that his momentum at the time he made the tackle was towards the sideline. Additionally, the db, on seeing Portis in front of him, made a move to the inside (CP's left). This put exactly the kind of forces on his left shoulder that would cause a subluxation, or worse. On the other hand, it could be much less, as well.
On returning to the field, Portis' arm was not immobilized. He was moving it spontaineously, with no guarding or wincing. Typically, an individual who has just suffered a shoulder injury assumes a posture with the arm resting across the abdomen, as if in a sling. It's almost automatic. However, Portis not only didn't do that, but was moving his arm, apparently without concern. He was smiling, and appeared to be joking around... Fast forward a few minutes.... Portis is on the sideline trainers table, having an arm immobilizer applied. His mood is now down.
If the injury was of concern, why was an immobilizer not applied immediately following the x-ray and initial MRI? What, exactly did he find amusing on returning to the field. Was the application of the immobilizer on national tv for theatrical purposes? Did the "great sandbagger" see an opportunity, and sieze it? Is this the final step in the return of Joe Gibbs?
Who shot JR?
Y'all have fun, now... ya hear?

Haha. I love it. I thought he came out of the locker room with a sling on though?

Good move. We don't have nearly enough controversy on this site

Fake or not (and I don't think it's fake; can't you conspiracy theorists go back to discussing the X-Files?!?

), it's just good sense to rest Portis for the rest of the preseason. It's not like the coaches need to see him out there to determine if he's a keeper or not!

It was funny how he was in a sling like 10 minutes later on the sideline... I too am wondering if the injury is being played up a bit. Nice post I know with portis that it could be a possibility.

Nope. They applied it on the sidelines, well after he came out of the locker room. I'm a nurse, and did a lot of orthopaedics in my younger years. I was watching closely... and was pleased when I watched him moving his arm. If you can get a replay, it's not hard to see

You know what, I remember now. They were adjusting the straps.

Ahhh c'mon. This may be our last time in the sun before the sky falls!
Didn't you see Dan Snyder on the grassy knoll? and following Princess Diana?

So let me get this straight:
Gibbs, being the mastermind he is, decides he wants an excuse to rest his star players (Portis, in particular). He knows the best actor on his team just happens to be Portis himself. He has experience playing various characters in front of the media and Gibbs realized Portis would get a kick out of this type of thing. Who wouldn't welcome a few games off in the Preseason.
Knowing he had to make it look as legit as possible, Gibbs tells Saunders he wants to see the play B Lloyd and Brunell have been struggling with all training camp. Gibbs warns Portis of the possible early interception. Portis almost misses out on the opportunity when he stumbles trying to get an angle for the collision. Portis hurries to his feet in time to find he still has a shot at the tackle and he unloads. Meanwhile Gibbs is thinking. Ahh Perfection.
The questions still remains.....who else is in on it? Santana Moss handled the questions from the sideline reporter (I forget her name) a little to easily. Almost as if he had been coached. Brunells pass was a little to perfect.

I think we may be confusing embarrasment for conspiracy. He was clearly upset in his comments regarding the length of the preseason. He knows he shouldnt have put his is body at risk and being the star on this team he should have been a little smarter. But ive been wrong before.

Dannys pockets run deep. Mini-camp was actually drama training.

Oh come on. This is crazy. A conspiracy? --> Nonsense!!!
While I have to laugh histarically at the idea of such a thing, I do have a concern. In the past, anyone who has been vocal in a manner that goes against the team plan has been gotten rid of. Portis has been very vocal about not being out there in pre-season, meaningless games. I hope he does not burn his bridge in Washington.

no way the injury is a fake. with that said i think it was just a separation and not a dislocation. he should be fine by week 1 without a doubt. however, it will hinder portis because he can't lift for awhile.
