WEAK FEDEX FANS

I was reading a reply to "The new Fedex" and It reminded me of the times ive been at fedex on my feet screaming at the top of my lungs on third down, and even first and second downs and these weak fans ask me to sit down and even have audacity to poke me pull on my jersey. This pisses me off, not only does everyone who go to Skins games pay more than enough for tickets but most of us are die hard fans that want to be as loud as possible to help our team. So my question is If we ignore these weak fans and constantly stand up what can fedex do to us....I know that if someone goes up to security and says "this young man constantly stands up and blocks our view" I cant see them throwing us out do you ?

I would hope not.
They need to throw the guy out who would get security because you were standing up.

Mind you I'm all for cheering and being loud but you have to be respectful as well. If you stand and there is a child behind you, they cannot see a thing, even if they stand. So perhaps that's the reason they're asking you to sit. Jackson loves the game but I cannot imagine he would if some guy blocked his view the entire game.

I think that as fans they should scream and shout as loud as possible. put the kids on your shoulders if they can't see.

They can also respect the passion that I have to feel the need to stand up.... and I really dont think NFL games are meant for kids, due to the nature of todays fan(hardcore, drunk, serious, live or die with wins and losses) this is the sport that we as america care about the most which drives the most passion out of us which can result in words or actions that are meant for children..I mean i dont wish it to be that way, and i would love for kids to sit and enjoy and not be corrupted, but i just think that is how it is now

People should sit when it's appropriate. If there's nothing going on in the game then sit if everyone else is.

It's just a matter of common sense to know when to sit and stand. I stand quickly to throw my fists up if our team makes a good play but then I sit down before the next play out of respect for everyone else around me.

Like I said, it's not hard to know when to stand or sit.

I respectfully disagree! NFL Football is renowned throughout the world for being able to have the "family atmosphere" that other sports around the world sorely lacks. Children of ALL ages should be able to attend the games and the "todays fan" that you mention should be the ones that need to be modified. First of all, you dont' have to be drunk to be passionate about the game. You don't have to be drunk to know when to jump up and/or stand up. As Jake said, common sense should prevail. But, the NFL is most DEFINITELY about children, of any ages, if for no other reason to breed them to become Redskins fans when they reach an age that they like sports.

You can raise your children as Redskins fans just as easily from your home as you can at the stadium....and the NFL is not such a family outing as you proclaim..if any sport is the family event it is baseball....Football is a violent sport and and im not sayin that i stand constantly throughout the game...but why should i respect the people who sit down..why cant they respect the people who stand up....and dont get me wrong if theres an old man behind me, more than likely i will move...this is more directed to the older yuppies that have invated fedex field

A number of fans are seniors (like myself) and we enjoy the games as much as anyone else but we don't have the energy to stand and screem throughout the game. I think if you followed the example given by Jake there would not be a problem. We want to respect your expressions of excitement and hope you can respect all the "Older Folks" that attend the games.

Because they probably can't see the game and it may not be necessary at that point in time to stand.

Just ask anybody who went to the Ravens scrimmage with me... I was probably the loudest of our THN crew (I'm sorry you lost hearing in your left ear, Niki  ) but I still tried to respect the people around me the whole time and I still enjoyed myself.

Having been to Redskins games at Giants stadium and in Philadelphia there is definitely a more lively, loud, energetic atmosphere compared to Fedex. Fedex is a bit more corporate of an atmosphere and this is reflected by the fact that fans do not get up on their feet. It really ups the energy and noise level in a contagious way. At Fedex I do find my mind saying sit down all the time when my heart says stand up. I try to be respectful but the reality is it takes away from the atmosphere, and ultimately home field advantage compared to nfc east rivals.

That was VERY true a few years ago and there are still too many corporate people there today but it's gradually changing to more of a "Fan" atmosphere as opposed to corporate.

Who knows how long that will last but as long as we keep winning and have Gibbs, it will still be loud and chaotic (the good kind) at FedEx.

You're hilarious. Are you the same guy who goes to movie theatres and claims "Why do I have to respect the quiet people who actually want to watch the movie and not be distracted by me? Why can't they respect that I want to talk during the movie and shout at the screen and receive phone calls?"

I know it's not exactly the same, but it's pretty close to the same way of thinking.

Jake did put it best. It should be obvious when to sit and when to stand.

You guys are not understanding what I am saying, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT STANDING EVERY SINGLE DOWN...BUT there are certain IMPORTANT 1st/2nd down plays for instance after in interception we need to get the crowd back into it on 1st down or a goaline stand....im not gonna stand when its 2nd and 3 after a punt or sumthin, ill yell....but the whole point of my post was talking about on an important defensive stand, WHEN I WILL STAND UP and people try to tell me to sit down..i understand theres a time to sit and a time to stand...but when its time to stand i dont want some yuppie saying hey my kid cant see ...or I cant see...when its 3rd down on the 3 yard line, and were trying to get a stop....thas when i say why should i respect the people who sit down...when they cant respect the people who stand up

Punctuation is highly overrated. It sometimes leads to unneccessary comprehension of sentences.

What pisses me off is when morons hold up banners during the play. They hold these banners up over their head so that even if you stand up you cannot see. It infuriates me, it makes me want to walk down there and rip the banner to peices. Its just so ignorant to worsen everyone elses experience and cause them to miss out so ur lame behind can get on TV.

If you come to a football game you should be ready to stand and cheer. Period.

As for the little kids, when I was a kid I used to stand on my chair so I could see over the crowds standing up. When my little brother was old enough to go to the games he did the same thing. We never complained. We thought it was fun. Football fans should stand and cheer and be loud and support their team.

i like to think if you are going to bring a child to a professional football game you know what you are getting into...

there are going to be a great deal of drunk clowns in addition to the violent face smashing action on the field..

its a given opportunity to teach your kid about sport, aggression, passion, drunks, the power of crowds, mob mentality, saftey and where to find it, maturity, but above all when to tell the clown in front of you to sit down when nothing is happening...

that being said never curtail your cheering because others think its excessive..

we can all teach our children that emotion is somthing never to be embarassed about and how much f-ing fun it is to help your team by cheering them on!!

absolutely agree. Unfortunately, we have too many of these lame fans showing up at the games. Listen, if you want to whine about actually exerting some musculature and getting off your lazy behind every once in a while you might as well be sitting at home or perhaps a nice sports bar. Fans like these only take away from the redskin experience. Signs have always been part of football past-time. Just because we have a comfortable, nice stadium, covered with advertisements, geared toward the corporate spenders doesn't mean we have to tolerate the sterile environment that is Fedex field! We have great fans! Might as well be at M&T bank stadium or 3com park though. As abused as I was by the stinkin philly fans at their stadium, I admit that I was jealous of their home team stadium experience and home team advantage. The Fedex experience continues to lack the passion that once characterized this historic football team.

I can relate to that! I've had to deal with people telling myself and/ or a friend, that I would bring, to sit down. With the defense on the field we were told to sit down on a third and short play! Can you believe that? I told her she needs to stand up! :D She and her boyfriend didn't like that! After the play I told her to get an usher and if he tells me to sit down on plays like that then I will. She didn't get the usher, We did make a compromise. We switched seats........Now, that was before Gibbs came back.

Now that Gibbs has come back and has publicly asked fans to cheer and be loud things have changed...ALOT! For instance, that Dallas game last year! I can't speak for other sections, but my section ONLY sat down when there was a time out called or for the two minute warnings. We were to excited to sit down! THAT WAS THE BEST GAME I'VE EVER ATTENDED!

That is how it is now because of people like you who accept the behavior and change yours to suit it.

Football is very much a family game. It always has been in my family. If you do not agree then that's your choice, HOWEVER it does not mean that you should condone behavior that is unacceptable in other social settings.

If someone is using the game as an excuse to get drunk and act like an idiot then they should be thrown out, plain and simple.

You DO NOT have the right to tell me it's not a place for my child. I grew up going to Redskins games and being a fan and it's something that I want to pass on to my child. No one has the right to make it an unfit environment for him Redskins fan or not!

Damn, you stole my thunder. I didn't type fast enough :(
Anyway, I was at the Dallas game last year too (thank you JPFair) and the stands were actually swaying. I can safely say that Fedex was rocking that night both figuratively and literally. Unless that was an aberation, I think Fedex is surely a home field advantage. But that said, Although I screamed my head off and had a 3 day sore throat, I also sat my butt back down when it was time.
