Just received word that safety Sean Taylor has been fined four game checks for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. That means Taylor will not be suspended for any regular season games next season. Taylor will be able to recoup some of the money should he follow specified NFL requirements. 6:45 p.m. ET

Do you mean to say that he has been fined 25% of his regular season salary? It would be A LOT of money, far more that the darn ATV!
If this is true, and I understood correctly, it is an excessively expensive fine.

His game checks are close to 300K, so we're talking $1.2M expensive, if he can recoup half then it's a little more than a half million.

Few, as long as he's not suspended!
But hopefully this won't have an effect on how he views about playing and preparing for the games where he doesn't get paid, but knowing Sean Taylor... well it won't.

Goodness, thats a heavy fine for someone who wasn't even found guilty. It'll be interesting to see how other players around the league are being fined also.
THe next time Pittman decides to beat on his wife, I hope the NFL takes notice.
* supposedly if Sean doesn't do anything dumb (like spitting) then he'll get two of the checks back at the end of the season. Thats not too bad of a deal I guess. It almost seems as if they're trying to punish him for both the ATV and spitting incident in one swoop.

I expect the players' union to appeal that fine. It seems excessive to me, especially since they only fined Ray Lewis $250,000 after his murder trial.

Got my wires crossed somewhere:
Taylors base is the only money effected which is $425,000 so his fine is around $106,250 and can be reduced to $53,125

No, I heard or read somewhere that it would only be like $71K. I bet his attorneys were more than that.

How much did that Tampa Bay Buc get fined for beating his wife? This is ridiculously harsh!

either way, that's a lot of money... he needs to keep his nose clean now... I hope this doesn't turn into one of those deals where he's under a microscope and the NFL looks to flag him or fine him every time he unloads on someone...

I think he is already under their microscope. The spitting incident put him over the top.

I am paranoid that an opposing player is going to take advantage of the spitting incident and fake that Sean Taylor spit on him to get him kicked out of the game and suspended.

Well the last incident was different. The Ref was directly infront of Sean and saw it happen. Im pretty sure a ref can't eject a player based of heresay (spelling). Plus they had video evidence of the spit also.

I know that the fine for ST's actions after he was the victim of a burglery, and that what he did was not right ...
but a side of me is saying where are the ATV? who has been charged for that crime? Charge and fine the victim? It doesn't seem right.
I know that ST wanted to fight this in court, but took the plea deal to end circus. I wonder if tehy took that into account.

I agree. Sean's mistake was going after the punks who stole his ATV's (who also went around stealing other ATV's afterwards). But he was the victim of a burglary. The punks CLAIMED he pulled a gun on them. That is what started this whole public mess. Why should we believe those punks who are running around stealing everything in sight? Plus these punks were the ones who tracked Sean down and shot up his or his friend's SUV. They are the ones who should be on trial and sent to jail.
We all know Sean is no choir boy but this case and media attention directed to it was a bunch of crap in this instance.

Sean Taylor: punished for a crime he did not commit. Hope the media pundits are happy. . .

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Now that it's done and over... The fact that Sean was hanging with some "friends" and decided to go after the people he believed had stolen his ATVs. Not one "friend" pointed out that he's Sean Taylor and didn't need to take matters in his own hands.

I don't think they would have shot up anything if Taylor hadn't went after them, again if he took a gun why didn't a "friend" speak up

I agree with this 100% we don't know what happened to Sean's ATVs but they had a couple that didn't belong to them and nothing was done about it.

Look at all the facts...
One of the best Redskins on a team headed back to glory.
It's the off-season and he is a Redskin.
You had gunfire, grand theft and the police were looking for a Redskin.
Had Taylor been shot at trying to stop someone from stealing a little old ladys purse, we would have never hear about it. I bet his "friends" feel the same way. Seem like all of this could have been avoided if a lot of things hadn't happen, but if Sean had been around people that had his best interest in mind none of this would have happened.
