Lincoln Kennedy to try out for Redskins?

I wasn't at camp yetserday and I dont' think it was posted on THN, so I can't vouch for the veracity of the rumor. It looks like Lincoln Kennedy has been brought in to try out and compete for depth on the O-line. Could he be the 2006 version of Ray Brown? He's been out of the NFL for a few years so I don't know what kind of shape he's in, but if he's in good shape he could be a solid, experienced addition to the O-line that might be crucial for a late season run towards the playoffs.
Thoughts?

Apologies if I've been scooped.

That would be a fantastic pick up. He was a dominate player. I was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they had John Clayton as a guest and one of the things that he said was teams are out looking for O-line depth. Lets be proactive rather then reactive.

Kennedy’s agent claims that the player is in good condition, carrying 385 pounds on his 6-7 frame.

Wow... very interesting.
I hope he doesn't expect to start but it would be an interesting pick-up to say the least.

6'7'' 385??? What was his playing weight with the Raiders?
I bet he could play two O-line positions... at the same time.

We want him to at least 'want' to start. More motivation to have a guy out there pushing himself then just thinking "yeah I'll sit on my butt and collect this money!"

He played right tackle and his weight was listed at 335. He would have to use training camp to get into football shape. When he played for the Raiders he was considered one of leaders on the team, he was very smart, a hard worker and he was a good guy on and off the field.

The only motivation he needs is getting into playing shape. Starting is a pipe dream and not even worth discussing for someone who is years removed from the game and 50 lbs over his playing weight.

Redskins? Parcells is on NFL Network and I believe its the Cowboys who are seeking him not the Skins. Unless fatgirl contacted the Skins on his own.
This is actually terriffic news! Pukes are still having oline troubles!

Looks like he's trying out for both. He must be suffering a negative cash flow and is in need of money, but he'll probably say something like "Football is my life and I want to contribute".

I remember him saying "I thought of going into politics, but I was afraid I'd get shot".

If he does -NOT-get the job, he might want to say at least a few good things on NFL Network! We never get a good word there.

Wow Jerry Jones is a LIAR! He said in that article that they did not work Kennedy out but according to the NFL network, whom Kennedy works for, they worked him out today.

Kennedy in town
Retired offensive lineman Lincoln Kennedy met with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, and a team source said he will be at Redskin Park today to meet with coaches.
Kennedy hasn't played since 2003 in Oakland and appeared in 169 games. His lone connection to the Redskins is line coach Joe Bugel, who coached Kennedy with the Raiders in the late 1990s.
Kennedy, 35, worked for NFL Network last year.

Okay... so Kennedy apparently did NOT work out for the Skins yesterday and will work out for us TODAY.
Redskins Park has some bad sources.

We know they're all ugly! An ugly snob is a bad combination - we have some of those and they all have those short stockings, and really bad taste in outfits!!!

is anybody else a little put off by these retired guys who say they'd like to come back, but only if they get to play for a "contender"... they always talk about how much they love and miss the game, but rarely do they love it enough to come back to a team that's trying to build something new, and help mentor the young guys, and maybe be a part of turning an organization around... just seems lazy, like he's looking for a shortcut instead of putting in some hard work with the supposed couple good years he has left...

I don't have a problem with it. I would like to have a guy come in here and work with the younger guys along with Buges. If he's better than anyone we have, then I say go for it. I know he will be.

Come on guys. Don't you think that Buges and Joe will see through ALL that you have highlighted above? Don't you think that they will have the eye to determine if this guy can help or not?
I will go along happily with any decision they make.
